::::::::I think the example on {{w|Appendix:French_pronunciation|Wikipedia's french IPA page}} is the best: the "g" in the "-ger" part of the word should sound sound like the "s" in "measure". Either way, unless we directly insert the IPA pronunciation guide (which is /e.tʁɑ̃.ʒe/, in case you were wondering) or a clip of someone actually saying the word, this will never be obvious to people who don't speak French.-- [[Image:User Alex2539 Sig.png|link=User:Alex2539]] -- 17:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

::::::::: I've been speaking french for 14 years now and your measure example couldn't be more correct. Indeed the "g" sounds like that when it's followed by "e". Also, the word accent (emphasis) is on the first part, on "ét".

I think the name should be L'Etranger and not L'Étranger because that's how it's in-game. Same thing with one of the paint names that has been mistakenly spelled incorrectly. You shouldn't change it's name either... --[[User:SandeProElite|SandeProElite]] 13:20, 13 November 2010 (UTC)

Revision as of 13:44, 26 March 2011

The L'etranger also adds 15% cloak to your cloak meter every time you shoot someone with it, at the cost of it doing 20% less damage compared to the vanilla Revolver.

It isn't in the description yet.

To Test

  • 15 = 15%? Pictogram tick.png Done
  • Works on enemy buildings? Pictogram tick.png Done
  • Works on cloaked spies? Pictogram tick.png Done
  • accuracy is same as revolver? Pictogram tick.png Done
  • Better Damage stats Pictogram cross.png Not Done
  • Fills all watches the same? Pictogram cross.png Not Done

I just did some testing, and found out that it in fact does work on cloaked spies, does not work on buildings, accuracy I belive (May be wrong) as the revolver, and it does fill all the watches by 15%. I am not sure whether or not if it fills the watches the same though. Jeff AndonutsJEFF used Bottle Rocket! 21:08, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Pronunciation?

Could be a helpful tip for those curious about the name. Would it be "Le-tron-je?" Magma Spire 00:59, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Lay-tron-jay, there's supposed to be an accent on the e, as in L'Étranger --Firestorm 01:03, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
even that makes me cringe, but i think its the best english equivalent without using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IPA_for_English which most people don't understand anyway. i could do a sound recording of how it's pronounced, but i just have high school french under my belt, so it still wouldn't be 100% accurate, is there any way we could grab someone who speaks it fluently to to a 1 second sound snippet with how it should be spoken? What's wrong with lay-tron-jay? I too have high school French and that's how I thought it was --Firestorm 15:46, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm being informed by the more Frenchily inclined that there is a slightly different way of pronouncing it, I'll see what I can do. --Firestorm 15:58, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
It would be more like Lay-tron-zyay --Tinker 16:03, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Found a lovely French girl singing it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3kgVSBzxrw , indeed more like zyay than jay. --Tinker 16:06, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
-zyay? Why the Z? -- Vi3trice (talk) 16:09, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Because there's a noticable Z in front of the yay. In French, -ger almost always becomes -zyay. If you want to be 100% sure I could probably check a dictionary later. --Tinker 17:20, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
I think the example on Template:W is the best: the "g" in the "-ger" part of the word should sound sound like the "s" in "measure". Either way, unless we directly insert the IPA pronunciation guide (which is /e.tʁɑ̃.ʒe/, in case you were wondering) or a clip of someone actually saying the word, this will never be obvious to people who don't speak French.-- User Alex2539 Sig.png -- 17:29, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
