The Dueling Mini-Game item costs $0.99 USD for 5 uses. It is a level 5 item.

  • When the Mann Co. store first came out, they were sold for 1 for $0.99. Should this be mentioned as trivia?

Let me get this straight. You level up one level for every 10 wins, and one duelling 'pack of 5' costs $0.99. And to get the final duelling badge, you need to be level 75, which is 750 duelling wins. That means, to get the final badge, you would have spent almost $150 on duels! Wow. --Giraff3 20:29, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Not necesarily, you can still win duels that you where challanged to and the item can be found by drops. --Tribestone 15:43, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Plus the badge starts at level 1 so that's 740 wins. I've noticed the page says that the item will be refunded twice, don't know if that should be changed. Jayzak 09:38, 3 October 2010 (UTC) if you want to use the dueling mini game without the "action" feature, normally you just go into your inventory ( easy way is just by pressing 'N' by default in game) click the item, then press the "use" button, and then lastly choose your opponent

i got one of these...'don't know how to use it while in the game though. However, i DO know how to equipped it in a loadout... --Awesome Weegee 03:39, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Not sure where the information on here came from, but some of it is incorrect/incomplete. It says you earn medals by winning, but you get the first medal for your first duel, win or lose. It also says the badge "must" be equipped, but that is not true either, you can go into your backpack and simply select it and select "Use" ("Use with" changes to "Use" when you select the duel item) and it functions the same way, so you don't have to go through and have it equipped on every class. --Crap 02:41, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Generalities

Now that the Duel minigame can be dropped from crates, we have something to test: an uncrated duel minigame has one (random drop) or five (purchased) uses?

And the page says "Every time you level, you get a random item along with a single use 'Dueling Mini-Game'": This is everytime you level your badge (10 wins) or level its quality (250 wins)?

Since I lack one (or 48) duel minigames I can't test it myself.

It's an item drop per badge level. That's one per 10 wins. Vercci 12:16, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Seems you can even get a hat from duel rewards. I was rather surprised when I saw this last night. imgur.com/fQngJ.png -- Tarun 16:45, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
I suspected so, thats why I said drop instead of a weapon. It would just be very rare. Vercci 07:01, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Kicked from server?

What happens when a dueller is kicked from the server? Does it count as an involuntary disconnect or as the player leaving?

  • If disconnect: admins can avoid losses by kicking the player before the duel ends.
  • If leaving: admins can easily win duels by kicking adversaries. Dzjudz 06:09, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to say disconnect, but it's an interesting one. Perhaps an experiment is in order?  – Smashman (talk) 06:33, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I have some duels I don't mind losing, if someone here is an admin of any servers Scatmanjohn 15:12, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I already tested it with a friend. The kicked player loses, the remaining player wins. Can be abused by evil admins! Then again a cheating admin is a good excuse to blacklist a server. ;) --Ailure 18:59, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I got kicked from a server whilst in a duel, for some reason I didn't lose. It just ended up saying that the duel was not consumed due to me being kicked. Corkscrew 15:37, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
On this topic, it probably shouldn't be listed as a bug if a duel is canceled and refunded after a duelist is kicked. That was probably intended to prevent abuse by home-fielders. Certainly kicking them to prevent a loss is an abuse, but at least it doesn't come at the cost of that player's duel use and record. Chronomaster 06:45, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
I agree. Can't say it any better than Chronomaster did. SilverHammer 06:54, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Changing it then. Certainly looks intentional. Clank 21:23, 22 July 2011 (PDT)

Found a bug! DUELING MINI-GAME DOESN'T WORK AFTER 1 IS USED.

I'm talking about the the USE button that's assigned. After you use up all five games for 1 item, the USE key doesn't work anymore, even when using another mini-game. It only works after you reconnect to a server. It makes having consecutive matches a pain. DennoCoil 00:43, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

this worth noting?

I noticed when I use Ctrl alt del during a duel, and exit the game that way, the duel is not used. That worth noting? Thespy 04:05, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Do we now receive prizes for duels?

Two weeks ago I completed a duel and at the same time I got a message saying that I had found items (a dueling mini-game and a weapon) I thought nothing of it as I was well within my weeks cap and it was probably just a conicedence. However, last weeks I won another duel and a message again came up saying I had found items which were a dueling mini-game and another weapon (I should point out that I had dueled inbetween these occurences). Over the last 2 days I have used the five duels and had receieved nothing, until I used the final one and won a couple of minutes ago. I again receieved a dueling mini-game and a tribalman's shiv. Does anyone know anything about this? Ordinarily I wouldn't find random drops so surprising and would say it was a conicdence but three dueling mini-games and a weapon three times in a row, and all being recieved after I won the very last duel in the five? Has this happened to anyone else?MEDUNN 13:45, 23 July 2011 (PDT)

Try reading the page a bit first: "The badge will level up with every tenth win. When this happens, the player gets a random item along with another "Dueling Mini-Game" with 5 uses." » Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 17:22, 23 July 2011 (PDT)
Okay, I'm sure this can't be right now. I've played 8 duels today and won 7 of them, but have received 2 dueling mini-games with weapons.MEDUNN 13:22, 28 July 2011 (PDT)
Maybe you were incredibly lucky and happened to find another Dueling Mini-Game as a random drop? Either way, we just put here what Valve said the rules were - unfortunately there's no way for us to confirm whether they're working as they should. » Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 17:47, 28 July 2011 (PDT)
Is there really no way to test whether there is some kind of variation to this? Maybe you get more for dueling frequently or maybe it's new bug that causes them to drop all the time. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'd amassed five duel games (25 duels) and a week and a half ago deicded to use them all up. Since then I've been inudated with dueling game plus weapon drops. My badge has gone from about 53 wins to around 168 wins (I'd say I've won about 75-80% of the last week or so duels) and I currently have 4 mini-games with 17 duels, so despite playing over 150 duels, I'm only down 8 duels from my starting point.MEDUNN 03:11, 29 July 2011 (PDT)

Drop?

I got a lot of those months ago through drops, however for maybe 2 months I haven't found a single one. Can anyone confirm they keep being dropped? LeGenD`RaGe 10:19, 30 December 2011 (PST)

I believe they do. Sven 10:53, 30 December 2011 (PST)
I used to find them a lot more often than I do now as well. Maybe they've altered the drop chance slightly. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 03:00, 31 December 2011 (PST)

Possible Bug

I've not been able to confirm this yet, but it seems that if you are a spy, and disguise as someone with a dueling minigame equipped, it's possible to enter a duel even if you don't have a minigame (by pressing 'h' when disguised). As I said, I've yet to test this, both to see if you can enter the duel and to see if it wasn't a one-off bug. As a side note I had a taunt equiped, and I do not have, nor have ever had a dueling minigame. Ran Dash 06:58, 7 March 2012 (PST)

Class-locked duel

Information I'm missing on this page is what happens when you try to change class while in a class-locked duel. I'll test this next time I'm in a game (never tried it), but I think it's worth adding to the page. --Itsacon 01:23, 11 April 2012 (PDT)
