This article lists currently unreleased content that is assumed to be released before the end of Team Fortress 2's life.

New Game Mode

According to Robin Walker in an interview with PC Gamer, a new game mode will be added in the Polcount Pack this September (Valve Time). Robin's description of the mode was, according to PC Gamer, was "Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn". It's a fictional occult phrase from H. P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu, said to mean "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming". Note that Cthulhu is capitalized- the game mode may involve Cthulhus (mythical beings) in some way.

ETF2L Highlander Community Challenge & ESL Medals

Eight medals are to be added to the game and given to participants and winners of the ETF2L Highlander Community Challenge and the ESL 6on6 League.

Artpass Contest

On the 16th of July TF2maps.net and Valve announced a contest, in which the participant detailed a map that Valve has made. [1]

The Polycount Update

The Polycount Update is a contest by Valve and the modelling community, Polycount, to develop new community item packs to be introduced into Team Fortress 2. These items would be brand-new models with unique stats once added to the game. Entrants would also be given a Polycount "Greentooth" pin misc. item. The results were to be announced on July 12th, but were then delayed. The contest winners were announced on July 15, 2010. PC Gamer has confirmed that a pack not announced as a winner would be added as a surprise, and that the pack would be released in September (Valve Time).

This pack is currently unreleased.

Unreleased Meet the Team videos

There are two unreleased Meet the Team videos expected for release. They are Meet the Pyro and Meet the Medic. As revealed in an interview with Robin Walker by the podcast Kritzkast, Meet the Pyro will be a look at the world through the Pyro's eyes. In another interview with Robin Walker, he mentioned that there will be three more videos, one of which is unknown.

Trading system

On numerous occasions, such as in the September 2, 2009 blog post, a trading system had been promised.

Robin Walker has stated in an email that the reason for the delay is that the Steam team, rather than the TF2 team, is responsible for the technical side of implementing a trading system - and they have been busy with the Steam 2010 user interface updates, as well as other tasks such as TF2's Mac integration.

It was confirmed through a PC Gamer article that trading, along with a new game mode, will come in the next significant update (the Polycount Pack) this September (Valve Time).

Collectible statues

The IP Factory will be releasing a line of limited edition 12 inch Team Fortress 2 collector's statues. Currently all classes bar the Heavy are pending release. Pre-orders of these statues went live on the 3rd of May 2010. They will be available in Q4 of 2010.

Class/Other Major Updates for the Xbox 360 Version

The last official mention of any class/other major updates (containing new items, maps, etc.) for the Xbox 360 version of Team Fortress 2 was on April 2, 2009. There are two main reasons as to why the content has not been released. Firstly, due to reaching or coming close to reaching the memory limit that the Xbox 360 possesses. Secondly, due to the fees Microsoft have put in place for adding content to games, using Microsoft's very own Live on-line market store. These fees have been calculated and estimated to cost Valve over one hundred thousand dollars to update the Xbox 360 version of Team Fortress 2, in the same manner and fashion that the PC version has received the class and patch updates. Therefore, some expect the updates and patches to be released for the Xbox 360 once Valve has finished and finalized all of the class updates, therefore allowing them to group all of the updates and patches in one large group and content update, though it seems highly unlikely.

New demo format

Robin Walker has discussed a new system for recording demos, where a player can request a recording from the server at the end of a life or round. The plan is for the format to be "More robust" so the demos will not become unplayable as easily as the current system when the game is updated.[2] Another goal is to allow people to easily share their videos on video sharing sites.[3]

Hat Describing Contest

It can be assumed that after the completion of the Hat Describing Contest all the ingame hats will carry descriptions.
