It's so clean
Anyway, I was thinking maybe we should have some kind of crafting info on hat pages. Like, we have tradable, nameable, paintable, but maybe we should indicate if 1) people can craft it from stuff and 2) it can be crafted into stuff. What do you think, my dear Whole Pilk? -- En Ex (talk) 18:40, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

- Heh, well I guess it should be updated. I know someone was going through a bunch and fixing them earlier today. -- Pilk (talk) 18:44, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

Pyro
Cheers, Pilk. I thought I did press the previous version in the article history. I would've gone and corrected it when I reread the section. Silly me. :P --Leftism 13:05, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed. It does look a bit stupid now. :-\ Is there any way to remove my edit from the history since it didn't actually change anything? Basically I clicked "Diff" on the Recent Changes page and saw the edit, wanted to remove it. I thought it was looking at the previous "good version" in the "Edit this Page" part and so saved the page (if that makes sense!). Once again, sorry for that. I'll try not being fancy again! :D
- Looking at the changes now, it would appear I clicked on the wrong version I wished to revert back to. :-\ --Leftism 13:11, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

File:Unusual_sunbeam.png
Hi. Your image, File:Unusual_sunbeam.png, needs maintenance–specifically, a recreation of the image without the earbuds would be great. I'm aware you've tagged it with "Thanks to User:Shugo", but I'm not sure where else to direct this request :) ~ lhavelund (t ▪ c) 04:06, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's a great picture. Nothing wrong with the earbuds. -- En Ex (talk) 04:20, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, disregard that—trawling through the images requiring improvement, I just I'd go through them one by one and see what could be done. This one already had the {{Improveimage}} template on it, so I followed up. ~

Modelling Wiki page
I've developed some interest into making a wiki page dedicated to teaching newbies how to start modelling. I figured that since tutorials on modelling in TF2 are so fractured and obscured, its easy to get lost or confused along the way. This page will hopefully go through a step by step process of getting the right programs, how to use the programs, how to decompile models, and so on. I just wanted your approval before I start. Yay or nay? (nanosheep_inc) 01:04, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think the VDC would be more relevant for that. -- Pilk (talk) 01:06, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Would it? Searching for "modeling" gives a list of utilities and programs, but not exactly where (or how) to start. Its exacerbated by the fact that modeling in TF2 is a bit different from standard source games. Having it all written here in a step by step process DEDICATED to TF2 makes searching for it much less of a hassle (speaking from experience). (nanosheep_inc) 01:33, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Wasn't your point that you are going to provide that guide to tell people where and how to start? We don't tend to host tutorials because they aren't encyclopedic in nature (i.e. the process can differ depending on person, would use an incorrect grammatical person etc.) -- Pilk (talk) 01:35, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- We have some tutorial-ish articles. ~
lhavelund(talk ▪ contrib) 01:37, 22 October 2010 (UTC)- Once again, that specific page would be better hosted elsewhere. -- Pilk (talk) 01:38, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Kill it with fire. ~
lhavelund(talk ▪ contrib) 01:38, 22 October 2010 (UTC)- That makes me a little sad inside. There's no way I can convince you to allow the tutorial? (nanosheep_inc) 01:49, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think Pilk has a point; this really isn't a tutorial forum. I'm thinking the SPUF or the VDC are much better ressources for that. I re-wrote the entire Linux dedicated server page, but I have no qualms about letting it go, either. ~

"Epic Polish language update"
I'm just curious - how do you know that our translation is epic? :) --Parseus lm(pl) 09:30, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- Remember that time we were waiting for a HUUUGE update to TF2, and one came out and it was just some Polish localization strings? Yeah. A little bit of sarcasm. :P -- Pilk (talk) 09:31, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Translation help
Hello. I need some help. I have read the instruction of language translation, but i can't understand this offer: "Now go to your new article title and paste...". Where is new article title? VeKoB 14:19, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- New language articles are in a subpage of the English version. Take the page name in the URL bar and add /ru to the end. -- Pilk (talk) 14:33, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- So, for example if you want to translate the Scout page, you can go to http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scout, and put a '/ru' at the end of that like this: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scout/ru and then edit that one. --Underyx 14:35, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Know how to translate, don't know how to format.
What the headline says. I know people/can translate various pages that are required, but I have no clue in the world how to format. Is there any way I can provide you with the translated text and someone can later format the page as required? I wish to help the wiki however I cannot for the life of me format a page. Alternately, we can contact each other telling me what to do. On an unrelated note, pleasure to meet you, looking forward to talking again soon. Sincerely, Flf4sgam3r 11:57, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- You will only ever translate from the English version of a page, so formatting won't be an issue. If you've read the translation guide all you will need to do is translate the text part only. Have a look at different language versions of an example page to understand what you should and should not translate. You can always join the IRC channel if you need help, too. -- Pilk (talk) 12:00, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick response. Sorry I didn't read that through earlier, i'm new here :P I'll get on it soon! --Flf4sgam3r 12:05, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Hidden stuff?
Hi, thanks about the comment on my talk page. Didn't new that. But i'm having a problem. I'm trying to translate the things in the "Latest Updates" at the main page, specifically the pt-br one: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Main_Page/pt-br As you can see, Atualizações mais recentes is in english and i can't find that specific page. Do you know it? Swordz 14:53, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Background sources?
Hello, Mr. Pilkington! Do you still have the background sources for the class Backgrounds? I have a little project I need them for, and while I could, I'd rather not have to re-create them all from scratch. ~ lhavelund (talk ▪ contrib) 01:49, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Help deciding what stays, what goes on Exploits page
I've taken up the task of fixing up the Exploits page. Some of the stuff I've decided doesn't belong such as the Voting Exploits section, since voting isn't in the game naturally. However, other sections I'm not so sure, such as the Terrain Exploits section. I wish to delete this particular section due to these being map geometry exploits and not game coding exploits. I could also use help determining what is a real exploit, what is patched (and in what versions), and what was never real in the first place.
Basically, help? Uncle Richardson 03:45, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- The page needs a bunch of help, I recommend coordinating something on Talk:Exploits first. -- Pilk (talk) 08:34, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm back in town Pilk!
So I am still in Hawaii, but with 6 days to go I invested in paying for the internet in my room for while I am here. Thus I will be able to Wiki :).

- We have at least 2 big projects coming up, you'd need to join IRC to get the details and they aren't really completely worked out yet Nnyway. So basically just the same old but multiplied because of the traffic. -- Pilk (talk) 10:41, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I should be on the IRC at least once per day again now, so I should be around whenever for info. Will start keeping an eye on the recent change log tomorrow. -- Benjamuffin

HLMV always assumes blendtintbybasealpha has value 0 regardless of the associated .vmt
Heya, I'm having this problem and was told to ask you if you know a solution. I've already uninstalled the SDK, deleted the folders so nothing was left behind, reinstalled it and rereplaced the .dlls, yet the problem persists. I'm trying to test how the team spirit paint will look with the fixed Rimmed Raincatcher textures but right now it's not working properly. I'll be on the IRC channel or I will occasionally refresh this page to see if you replied. Thanks in advance if you know how to fix this. Knuckle 23:21, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- I'd have to explore that, I don't profess to be an expert though. If I can't work something out I can ask around as I know a few people. -- Pilk (talk) 06:58, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- I added you on Steam to get the exact details of your issue, but modifying that value has the expected results. -- Pilk (talk) 10:13, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
Item Timeline Page?
Had another idea for a timeline - Item Timeline. I put together a rough high level example, hadn't stumbled accross anything like it on the wiki yet? hopefully its not duplicate work? Any chance something like my example should become a page? Nooch 22:36, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- That looks nice and I think people would find this information useful and interesting. You would need to look at proper capitalization of class names. You should also consider putting in icons of the items just to make the page visually interesting. "Halo-caust Update" is probably not a good term though. -- Pilk (talk) 22:41, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. Didn't want to spend too much effort on the project if it was only for me. Based on your encouragement, i will continue improving and execute the changes you requested. Thanks Nooch 22:53, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
- Created a New Page with the suggested modifications. Not sure about the protocol for creating pages? i'm guessing an admin should decide if it is worthy to move to its own page? thanks. Nooch 05:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Approve Very well done page. Natemckn 05:28, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- That works really well. Could I be a pain and get you to modify the dates so they are more "international friendly"? (e.g. 10/29/2009 -> October 29, 2010) The other though I had was, are the unlocks listed in the order they were revealed? I guess it makes sense to be complete about it as possible. Once you have a look at those two points feel free to move it to the main namespace. -- Pilk (talk) 05:31, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- First part was easy enough. Dates are fixed. Second part will require more investigation and modification. Latter will have to wait till another day. i appreciate your feedback. Nooch 05:52, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- Had a couple minutes this morning to wrap up the 2nd request. New page includes my interpretation of order items were released. Not certain how to use move? Nor am I confident about either what To new title: to use, or the expected syntax? just Item_Timeline i'd guess? but, maybe http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Item_Timeline? or, maybe it should be called something else? Translating to a non-supported language
Hello there, Pilk. I was thinking of translating the wiki page to my mother-tongue language, but it seems that it is not on the supported language list. I was wondering if I still translate the wiki, will my work be considered? Oh yeah, my language would be Malay. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Psycke.oh (talk) • (contribs) 09:27, 1 December 2010
- Speaking on behalf of Pilk here as I'm sure he shares my opinion. At the moment, we are only allowing languages on the list and do not have plans to include any others, sorry. seb26 [talk] 09:32, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
