Home-frickin'-run!
The Scout

The Grand Slam, also known as Home Run, is a kill taunt for the Scout that can be performed with the Sandman or Atomizer as the active weapon.

Upon taunting, the Scout points to the sky, winds up, and swings the bat, dealing 500 damage (425 with the Atomizer) to any enemies too slow, unaware, or simply unfortunate enough to be in the way.

The Grand Slam is capable of casting a victim's ragdoll a considerable distance away. Although the entirety of the wind-up is silent, a sound effect of a crowd cheering plays upon a successful hit. The kill area of the taunt is relatively small, allowing enemies time to jump away from the taunt and avoid death.

The range at which the taunt kills is 48 Hammer units (roughly 3 foot / 0.915 meters), past which it has no effect. If multiple enemies are within this range, they all take damage.

As with most kill taunts, this taunt can be used to kill enemy players during Humiliation and Stalemates.

Trivia

  • The point at which the Scout points to the sky during the taunt is a reference to Babe Ruth's called shot, in which US baseball player Babe Ruth made a pointing gesture before hitting a home run in the 1932 World Series.
