Loch-n-Load publicity blurb

The Loch-n-Load (pronounced "lock" as a pun, or with Scottish accent /lɒx/) is a community-created primary weapon for the Demoman. It is a double-barreled break-action grenade launcher.

This weapon fires grenades that travel at approximately 1513 Hammer units per second (roughly 105 km/h or 65 mph) and do not tumble mid flight, meaning they travel 25% faster than stock grenades and experience less drag in flight, greatly increasing their overall range. These grenades inflict 20% more damage than the Grenade Launcher to buildings upon a direct hit. Grenades explode as normal if they strike an enemy, strike a building, or if the fuse expires; however, if they hit anything else before then, they shatter, dealing no damage or push force. Additionally, the Loch-n-Load only holds 3 grenades (instead of 4) and each grenade has a 25% reduced splash radius, making it less effective on clustered enemies.

The kill icon for the Loch-n-Load was contributed by Psyke .

Trivia

  • As with the Grenade Launcher, the Loch-n-Load seems to be based on the M79 Grenade Launcher, except it has been modified with the addition of a second barrel. The two barrels are similar to the China Lake Grenade Launcher.
  • The Loch-n-Load's name is a pun on the phrase "Lock and Load", a cliché originating from the process of preparing a weapon for firing. "Loch" is a Scots and Scottish English word for lake.
    • The Loch-n-Load name's also could be a reference to its similarities to the China Lake Grenade Launcher or the Demoman's obsession to blow up the Loch Ness Monster.
  • Unlike the Grenade Launcher, the Demoman holds the end of the Loch-n-Load slightly above the crosshair, giving the appearance of firing at an arc. This does not affect the grenade's trajectory.
