Management structure

Issues with current system Proposed ways of addressing these issues Discussed
  • Not always clear who exactly can be turned to for advice or help on the Wiki.
  • Clarify the list of green names in the IRC's RC feed.
  • Emphasise the IRC a little more, so much discussion happens there these days.
  • New colour for trusted users both in recent changes and IRC.
  • Work with the main page a bit. Looks nice, not so user friendly. Perhaps a "START HERE" page for new editors?
  • Emphasise the IRC though nothing replaces talk pages for long communication.
  • Some users are promoted for the sake of it, promotion has been given as a reward.
  • Demote these specific users. Nothing personal.
  • Language users do not have a central point of communication/relay/"authority".
  • Work with translators to identify good candidates for at least one "supervisor" translator, given mod rights.
  • The current user groups rights structure is messy.
  • There is no clear management structure. In the past one has been resisted, but it is evident that one now needs to be implemented to suit our unique needs. It's important to note that in many ways modelling our structure off of Wikipedia has failed.
  • Implement a management structure involving clear and defined heirarchy. This means "veto" powers for admins, etc. but nothing verging on a tyranny.
  • Many inactive accounts with rights/active accounts with unused rights
  • Demote users who do not use the rights they are given. Exceptions would exist, such as regularly active editors who need mod rights in the case of needing to ban a troublesome editor.
