Uploading sounds to the wiki

Hey, you can upload sounds via Special:Upload. Please use the least-compressed format available, e.g. if they are .wav files please upload them as .wav files. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 06:29, 19 April 2016 (PDT)

Your Signature is broken

Hey Archrelico. Your signature is not properly closed with it's font color settings. Because of that, it makes the rest of the talk page green colored. >w<

Luckily it's an easy fix. At the end of the signature before you close the internal link, add "". --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 14:17, 5 September 2016 (PDT)

Strategy

Hey, you shouldn't have to work on this alone. Why don't you and I split the workload? --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 14:29, 8 September 2016 (PDT)

Yes please, this is a really huge job just for myself. Talking strategy about how to work on strategy pages? What fun! -- Archrelico "Mexi" 07:49, 9 September 2016 (PDT)

So what pages are you currently working on? I was planning on getting started with Engineer Strat. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 09:45, 9 September 2016 (PDT)
Honestly, it'd just be nice if you help me check whether any of the Community Strategy pages have a "Class Combat Strategy" section, because from what I've seen only the Soldier page has it, and that should be ported into his "Anti-Class Strategy" page. Also would be good if you could just help me check for any hopelessly outdated info from the Pyro page onwards, there's bound to be a lot of them (eg. weapon stats). I'll be doing the main updates and rearranging to make the pages look better. -- Archrelico "Mexi" 18:58, 9 September 2016 (PDT)
Oh yeah, I'm still working on the Pyro page. It's almost done, I'll probably move on to Demoman this week. -- Archrelico "Mexi" 19:00, 9 September 2016 (PDT)
In that case I'll start doing the support classes starting with Engi and Medic, and you can do Demo and Heavy. --User Dr. Scaphandre Golden Ghastly Gibus.png Dr. Scaphandre 19:07, 9 September 2016 (PDT)
Tell me once you're done, and I'll go over and do improvements on the format and all that as well.\

I've actually been spending the past few months checking and rewriting the entire Community Strategy pages. Scout/Soldier/Pyro are all done, so Demoman's next on the line. There's probably going to be a lot of reminders once I start on it, so just a warning before I actually start a huge update. Archrelico "Mexi" 05:26, 21 November 2016 (PST)
Thanks for the update. Hope things go well. I am currently doing a template sweep on all the weapon templates. I have officially done all of scout and soldier. Backpack Ze Goggles.png || twolfe's page || twolfe's talk page 05:35, 21 November 2016 (PST)

Further work for the MYM Strange availability rollout

Hello Archrelico,

I wouldn't say User:TravisMCEDIT forgot something on his edits, I already told him that there is more work to do, but his edits on the item pages are consistent within themselves. I also told him that, as you correctly saw, there is more work to do :)You're right, he forgot the avail parameter :c

I'd also like to ask you, what you use as source for what items are now available in strange. If you don't have one I'd suggest to wait for the other guy to answer my question or to finish his edits so you don't need to do the quad additions more times. Anyway, your edit to the quad template was correct, please continue (You can see the list of parameters here, I'll correct it soon (tm)). Sorry that I wasn't in the IRC at the time you asked, feel free to post on my talk page the next time you don't get an answer :)

After that is done we may want to update the strange item lists and probably a few texts on Strange-related pages, too. I can support you if you want to do that today, keep it up! :) — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 23:45, 10 December 2016 (PST)

I'm usually a fan of consistency, but since there already are 24 other entries in the quad template which meet the current scheme, yours was wrong then, please replace keyless-crate with unlocked cosmetic crate in the quad template. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 23:50, 10 December 2016 (PST)
Thanks for the help, I did see that the user was doing consistent updates to the stranges, but seeing he hasn't touched the templates themselves, I might as well do it. For the source, I use Toxin's Steam Guide, which correctly lists every possible strange you can find from the keyless crates. This means I don't have to wait for this user to finish his edits either, I'll just do my part and update the things he missed.
For now I'm just trying to get the "Available Qualities" section in the infoboxes corrected, so I've been going through the template pages for the first time. I think I managed to fix the Argyle Ace page (now it shows Unique, Strange and Collectors), but for some reason the "Strange" link is written as "Strange]]", and I have no idea why. Does editing the quad template eventually update the "Available Qualities" section automatically, or did I do something wrong along the way? Also, I'm currently recovering from carpal tunnel (strained wrist) and I'll only be free after tonight, so I'll just focus on this and my strategy pages for now. Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 00:05, 11 December 2016 (PST)
See above, replace keyless-crate with unlocked cosmetic crate to fix th error.— shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 00:26, 11 December 2016 (PST)
Alright. Thanks for the continued support, I'll come ask again if I run into issues. :D Gives recognition Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 00:29, 11 December 2016 (PST)

Okay, so I updated all the available Scout items on the quad list, but now when I add "unlocked cosmetic crate" in the Argyle Ace's availability section, it comes up with a red script error. If I type "keyless-crate", it shows "Unlocked Cosmetic Crate (Unique and Strange)" (which is correct), but the strange quality link is still bugged and shown as "Strange]]". Here's how the itembox looks like currently, and the resulting issue. Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 01:01, 11 December 2016 (PST)

In the avail parameter "keyless-crate" is correct. That's what I meant with "I'm usually a fan of consistency, but". So you'll want to continue to add the avail parameter just as you already successfully did. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 01:06, 11 December 2016 (PST)
Hm... so it seems that the weird issue of "Strange]]" isn't under my control? Everything else is fine expect for that. Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 01:13, 11 December 2016 (PST)

No problem, I also don't like those 2 having different key strings, but I don't know much about naming conventions and so better don't do anything about it. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 01:19, 11 December 2016 (PST)
Yea. Well, now that that's sorted, I'll get to all the stranges. Thanks for the time c: Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 01:21, 11 December 2016 (PST)

Trickstab section

Heyho,

since you're the currently most active strategy guy I wanted to ask if you could deal with the problem of trickstabs not really belonging to the backstabs section? Maybe we want to integrate them in the community strategy page, or do you have a better idea? Would you keep it on the backstabs page? (See link above for removed section). — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 04:45, 17 December 2016 (PST)

Heyho Nickie, thanks for bringing it up. I'll get to it once I actually get to the Community Spy page, I've still only just started the Demoman one and I'm almost done with adding the keyless strange cosmetics. Since the backstab page is about the mechanic itself, what I'd suggest is to shorten and simplify the "Fundamental Backstab Techniques" part, then leave a link to the Community Spy Strategy page itself so further explanation can be given there (eg. For advanced backstab techniques, see [link]). Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 04:57, 17 December 2016 (PST)

The Naked and the Dead synopsis

Hai Mexi, just noticed your great work on the new comic article. One thing I have to gripe about is the synopsis part, because I think it's way too detailed. I think a synopsis should give a comprehensive overview of the comic and not try to retell every single panel. What about adding a real synopsis in addition to the existing transcript-like text? { TidB | t | c | wt } 01:17, 12 January 2017 (PST)

Yes, I'm trying to find a balance between too little and too much info, and I realized the length is too long for a synopsis. For now I'm trying to see what to change and then finish my first draft first. I might write a transcript section too, since it's much simpler to do. Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 01:48, 12 January 2017 (PST)
Actually, do you think a transcript would be more appropriate for this comic? This is the longest comic thus far, and I might just rewrite all I have into a transcript. Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 01:55, 12 January 2017 (PST)
I think a transcript would indeed be more appropriate. If you're a reader who wants quick info about the comic, you can read a short synopsis. If you can't read the comic for some reason (sight impairment, at work), you have the transcript. The current synopsis is just weirdly inbetween those options. { TidB | t | c | wt } 02:05, 12 January 2017 (PST)
Very nice, I was trying to do something along the lines of Old Wounds, but this comic is so long that it got very weird in the middle. I'll rewrite my current draft into two versions then. Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 02:09, 12 January 2017 (PST)

"egregious" bug policy

Hi there,

In your recent edit you stated that it is egregious to require proof for bugs and that it isn't consistently enforced. Note that the bugs you are referring to have been added years ago, in the past 2-3 years the overwhelming majority of bugs that had no proof have been removed (save for a couple of instances that slipped by) with the requirement of proof. This is also noted in the Bugs guidelines. If you have an issue with the policy, please bring it up on the guidelines talk page there.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 11:16, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I see. I just had such an adverse reaction because I was previously only active before 2021, and there wasn't such a focus on proving bug reports directly (to the point I have to manually find people with Unusual weapons I need just to record the bug, and now I have to do it for every single weapon I listed, including reskins I don't own...?). I understand the reasoning behind it but it's quite a hassle for editors who don't have much time on their hands, especially if I'm trying to relay information that was reported from other users as a show of good faith. Regardless, if this is the stance right now, then I'll provide the video proof once I find a way to. Item icon Loose Cannon.png Archrelico "Mexi" 22:32, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
If it's not you providing the confirmation that the bug is real, anyone could add anything to the Wiki. As for having to "manually find people with Unusual weapons", it would simply be the responsibility of Wiki editors instead, which ends up with the same problem just 1 person down. Besides that, any editor is free to undo edits with their own proof.
