Hello, HyperDan2000!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User HyperDan2000 to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:HyperDan2000/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Categorizing images.

A reason why your images are being deleted is they aren't properly categorized and copyrighted. When you submit an image or any kind of media on the wiki it needs to go into a category for organization reasons, and copyrighted.

For example take this image from Snowplow: Snowplow BLU Spawn.jpg

On the bottom you can see it's listed as a Snowplow image. That way anyone who clicks on this image can easily access the article of more images from Snowplow. Then is the copyright. It's listed as a screenshot taken in game.

You can find out the ins and outs of submissions here: Help:Images

If you have any questions on categorizing & copyrighting media, please feel free to contact me. Also, the guys on the IRC would be more then happy to help you. c: --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 09:36, 3 October 2015 (PDT)

okay thanks C: HyperDan2000 (talk) 09:38, 3 October 2015 (PDT)

Also, this isn't important, but if you include a colon before your comments, it indents them. The more colons there are at the beginning, the more it indents. Not important, but just a helpful tip so people can read your comments easier. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 09:42, 3 October 2015 (PDT)

Pictogram info.png Please make use of the Show preview button. It gives you a preview of the edit you are making, allowing you to perfect your changes before you save the page. You can edit the whole article by clicking the edit button at the top of the page, which is preferable to editing multiple sections consecutively.

Just a notice for all your other edits. Ashes (talk) 18:30, 3 October 2015 (PDT)

Wiki Lesson: Linking (Or as I call it, Piping)

Linking is a very important part of every wiki page for it easily guides readers to more information about a subject.

Here's an example. Pretend this is a page about the Soldier: "Soldier's roommate is Merasmus." With the link, people who don't know who the character is will click it and be guided to a page that describes Merasmus.

There are two ways you can create a link. The first is manually with brackets. For my example I'm only using one, but links require two brackets. [Soldier]

The link will take a user to the Soldier page. But what if you want it to take it to the same page, but the link says something else? Well, what you will do is first type the page title, then a vertical dash with what you want the text to say. [Soldier|Sgt. Doe] Sgt. Doe.

The easier way to do this is by clicking the link button next to the signature button.

For more on this, check out the editing etiquette video that goes into detail on linking in the Third Act. --Dr. Scaphandre (talk) 14:53, 4 October 2015 (PDT)

Modifying others' comments

It's considered impolite to change others comments, signature dates included. It can be misleading when trying to get the order of events down, or it can be confusing as to when discussions happened (and how soon they should be revived). Besides, your registration date is saved on the server. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 08:00, 5 October 2015 (PDT)

Okay, sorry. HyperDan2000 (talk) 08:51, 5 October 2015 (PDT)

A suggestion for your userpage header

If you place the table into a separate page (such as User:HyperDan2000/Header), then call that page like so: {{User:HyperDan2000/Header}}, then it'll be copied on to your page. This helps as it allows you to make edits directly to the header, and they'll then be shared across all the pages with your header, automatically.

Also, if you'd like the boxes to be the same size, change the width %. 15%*8 > 100% so you're running out of space by the end. If you set the widths to 12%, it should look fine. Darkid (Talk | Contribs) 08:06, 5 October 2015 (PDT)

Thanks for the suggestion. HyperDan2000 (talk) 08:52, 5 October 2015 (PDT)
