"we dont use drop as an "attribute""
Do you have some sort of thread or otherwise documented rule for this? Several other articles all have "Drop" listed as an attribute for weapons, and you'd have to go through literally dozens of articles to remove that attribute from each of them (as it exists in several other articles). ButteredToast 10:59, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
- I based that statement off of the Weapons page and the Template:Allweapons_Nav. On those pages we only use the categories: stock, unlock, craft, and promotion. You say several other articles have drop listed has an attribute, I assume you mean the literal item pages themselves. By that logic, for the Bonk! Atomic Punch we should have listed: Unlock, Craft, Drop, Purchase, and Uncrate(#8) as its attributes.
13:13, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
- The item pages themselves do list that attribute, but pages for a few of the classes had it prior to my changes to make it uniform (of which you didn't undo all of the changes). It might be a little misleading to novice players for them to visit a class page and only see that a certain weapon might only be craftable when in fact it can be a random drop too. ButteredToast 13:45, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
- Here are two quotes taken directly from the weapon availability section of the Weapons page:
- "Unlockable weapons are obtainable via achievements, crafting, trading, supply crate, buying, or the drop system".
- "Craftable weapons are obtainable via crafting, trading, or the drop system."
- I hope that answers any more questions that you have on the matter :)
14:21, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
- There were no questions on the matter; I'm aware of the Weapon Availability section (having added the "Distributed" weapons line myself), and think that it could probably stand to be revised. Looking at the section as it is now and following your logic, "Unlockable" and "Craftable" have some overlap or redundancy. ButteredToast 15:04, 3 August 2011 (PDT)

Im pretty sure using a question mark as the punctuation, now i could be wrong so don't hold me to this, makes a sentence a question. Back to the topic at hand. IMO I don't think that it needs to be changed, rather just be left alone and we move on. If you really think it should be changed, start a new topic on the Team_Fortress_Wiki:Discussion page. There every user will have a say in the matter rather than the two of us.
15:13, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
- There is no need to be condescending or rude; my question was only concerning the source of your logic, and I simply recommended that the Weapons Availability section could use some refinement to remedy the situation. Please choose your words a little more carefully. ButteredToast 15:43, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
- About me being rude. I'm sorry, I meant nothing by it and it (to me) was a joke, but nonetheless I was being an ass. No hard feelings? :)
As for your recommendation. As I previously stated, If you really think it should be changed, start a new topic on the Team Fortress Wiki:Discussion page or the weapons talk page itself so that everyone may get involved in a nice organized discussion.
16:16, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
- No hard feelings, mate; I'll consider taking the discussion to the TFW:D page since I doubt it will get due attention on the Weapons talk page. :-) ButteredToast 16:55, 3 August 2011 (PDT)

Crate Template
Hi, I can add the spanish translation of your template? Dio ★ (talk) 09:37, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
Hi, I should also ask you can I add polish translation, before I did it, but forgot about it, so sorry about that and you can delete it if you want. However, if it's ok I can add more polish translations in future if this will be necessary. -- Szumin (talk • contrib) 09:45, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
- Don't worry about it, in fact I am grateful to everyone who helps. I want this to have full translations before we have the template "go official". Seeing how I mainly know english, theres no way I can do this all myself.

Do you know how we can, well, basically "fix" the image so it cant be changed? Woodledoodledoodle 15:20, 27 August 2011 (PDT)

Guard Dog
Why do you keep putting Day One's update name as the name of the whole update? Rolandius 19:24, 12 September 2011 (PDT)
- Because thats the name of the update itself. Day 2, the "classless update", was just a bonus page due to the communities demand of hats for the project. It doesn't say Guard Dog Update but rather Unique Team Update. Thats my reasoning, but instead of this just being between you and me, in the future open a discussion on the Guard Dog's talk page so that everyone has the chance to speak their mind :)
19:37, 12 September 2011 (PDT)
- It does say the Guard Dog Update though when you look at the title of the webpage. Day One is the Unique Team Update. Day Two is the Guard Dog Classless Update. Since you changed it, I thought I would ask you on your talk page. That is where I usually am asked about things I edit. :) Rolandius 20:12, 12 September 2011 (PDT)

Firestorm noticed that the aspect ratios for the 2010 and 2011 Halloween menu images were off. I see you pulled them from the gcf file and uploaded. I fixed the images that were supposed to be 4:3 aspect ratio by changing the resolution to 1024x768. However, the same technique can't be applied to the widescreen shots as it would result in a glaring distortion in object size between the standard and widescreen pictures. For example, the pumpkins in the 2010 menu images would not be the same size in both images as they should be with proper aspect ratios. Any ideas on how to proceed? Hal9k 17:58, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
- I thought something was off about the ratios as there was no resolution difference between the widescreen and standard. I extracted these directly from the team fortress materials file, the exact location being: root -> tf -> materials -> console. Not sure what I could have done wrong.
18:15, 21 October 2011 (PDT)
- My previous post was towards to your question before you changed your post, and now it just looks redundant. Anyways, how did we upload the other background images because those are also 1:1.

Purging pages
Hey. If you didn't know, you can purge the page cache adding the action ?action=purge to the end of the page URL. It has the aditional benefit of not adding a entry to the page's revision history. If you already knew about this but it wasn't working please ignore this message. -- Pilk (talk) 18:11, 2 November 2011 (PDT)
- Sankyu Pilk! :) I actually didn't know that, but I think I used the wrong terminology. Allow me to explain what was happening. The NAV's on category pages created further categories within the categories, kinda an infinite loop. This problem was corrected by editing the template itself, but it the wiki doesn't recognize this fix until you edit the page itself again. That's why if you were look at the wanted categories page and see things such as "Fr", it still thinks it has over 70 pages referring to it, when nothing actually is and needs to be manually updated. So those minor manual updates I was making cleaned out a large chuck of wanted categories that shouldn't exist. Now if anything I just rambled on about made any sense to you, is there a more efficient method of performing this task?
18:27, 2 November 2011 (PDT)
- Just looking at what I wrote is confusing me, SO I'm summarizing what i meant to say! I believe there is some sort of internal error or cache error with the wiki when a category is altered indirectly; such as a template update or a page deletion. This causes some sort of "hiccup" in the system until the page that was referring to that category is updated. This would explain why we have pages that considered uncategorized when they are indeed categorized, or why the system thinks we have wanted categories that don't necessarily exist. The only way to fix this problem to my knowledge is to manually edit each individual page that is involved in the "hiccup". Hope that cleared up any confusion I created while shedding some light on my situation. :)

My edit on Moustachium Bar
I think it wasn't fixed, I think it still occurs. I only got them under a month ago, and look at the talk page! MULTIPLE people have. I'll search around, verify whether it is still happening... Davo 13:40, 4 December 2011 (PST)
- I looked at the talk page, 2 people confirmed that they got them without the game, but that was 7 months ago. The item only came out a few days before the month of May, and a few people found the item during the month of may. This is nothing to document. We have Vintage Bill's hats and 2 paint weapons floating around in the game, but its not notable seeing how only a few exists and they too are impossible to get as their glitches were fixed. If you can find that the item still drops that way then go ahead and put it back up.
13:51, 4 December 2011 (PST)
- It may have been fixed in an item schema update, I dunno, I know that I got them not 1, 2 months back, and not much other than that. Until I can well and truly confirm it, I'll leave it off. Davo 14:01, 4 December 2011 (PST)

Christmas gift pic
Hi, I'm new here and you erased my first edit. I understand that it doesn't exactly fall into line with the other acheivement pages, but I couldn't find a better place to put the image (other than creating a stub). I felt the image of the gift is nessessary for this wiki as many people have asked about it and said they couldn't find it here. Can you direct me to a better way to present this info? --CanadianWpg 15:19, 23 December 2011 (PST)
- Well as a first note we already have an image of the Gift box on the wiki of much better quality. Currently it is listed on the Pickups page. I don't know who these many people are, but if they cannot find it then some redirect or disambiguation pages need to be updated.
16:07, 23 December 2011 (PST)
- Ok, I'm thinking the solution then would be to simply delete my poor pic and add a link in the text to send them to Pickups#Event Pickups. "What does the gift looks like?" not being on the achievment page was the root of the issue. Thanks for the info --CanadianWpg 16:41, 23 December 2011 (PST)

Unused Demoman texture
This is very strange. I've been following this paper trail that's several months old.
In September 2011 you restored an edit that Dweet removed.
However, I've been combing through the diffs in the patch notes before and after the note was first introduced by Doktorpsyko in early September 2011 and I have yet to find mention of demoman_head_blue.vtf being removed or changed. So far, there only seems to be evidence of demoman_head.vtf which is modified by demoman_head_red.vmt and demoman_head_blue.vmt
A cursory scour of the internet reveals this post which suggests that the file, demoman_head_blue.vtf, may have never existed back in 2008.
So far, the only modification to the topic is an edit by Breakin' Benny stating that he cannot find it either.
All this is assuming that I'm looking in the correct folder (team fortress 2 materials.gcf/tf/materials/models/player/demo)
Anyway, I'd thought that I'd bring this up because the Demoman page has been marked as a candidate for a Featured Article. Upgrade 19:03, 19 March 2012 (PDT)
- Hmm, I contacted the original poster and he says that he may have a copy of the file. Upgrade 20:31, 19 March 2012 (PDT)
Categorizing sets
Hi, you are creating new categories, but some of them are duplicating existing ones. For example, compare Category:The_Airborne_Armaments and Category:Airborne_Armaments, Category:The_Medieval_Medic/ru and Category:Medieval_Medic/ru. Some of them are already created by using templates (like {{Set}}). I think there is something to be done about those duplicates. If you or anyone else fix the english pages, I can then fix the russian ones in similar way. Thanks. —
Stormbird T│C 11:58, 15 April 2012 (PDT)
- Sorry about that, I'm usually just on "auto-pilot" when it comes to categorizing. I thought those were already created, but I for some reason didn't double check. To fix the problem, "the" just needs to be removed from the category tag. The duplicates will be deleted.
14:21, 15 April 2012 (PDT)
- After a little investigating, every single item set page was categorized unnecessarily. All fixed now.
15:57, 15 April 2012 (PDT)
strange tag
It's data from the schema, Manmelter does not have the can_extinguish tag so at this time cannot be used with the Extinguish strange part despite technically being able to extinguish. - Devozade 16:38, 27 April 2012 (PDT)
- I know that now, I just assumed because of its ability. We were talking about it on the IRC and I looked it up just before you fixed it. The manmelter only has 3 tags:
can_deal_damage; can_deal_posthumous_damage; can_deal_critical_damage. Silly Valve.
16:41, 27 April 2012 (PDT)
- It know, I spent 3 hours going through the schema to check list it all, rather than guessing. Not the first time had my edits undone on the assumption my work was incorrect. I would have thought that I would have been noted as a reliable source by now. - Devozade 16:50, 27 April 2012 (PDT)
