Scout Nav

We have decided not to extend lang switching to the class nav templates. It's easy to add it to the smaller templates but for the larger ones it becomes much more difficult to maintain. It also seems that some translation editors prefer to have their own class nav templates to work with. Just letting you know. seb26 [talk] 22:29, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I already reverted it, but it will save me time in the future to know this.Subtlefuge 22:40, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Trivia sections

I noticed that you were asking Firestorm about cleaning up the trivia sections. I had the same idea recently and started a discussion on it in the Wiki Discussion page. I'm glad to know there's someone else willing to take proactive action toward cleaning them up, so if you like we could both figure out a way to clean them up that makes sense. If anything it'll cut the workload in half. -- Alex2539 05:08, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

is nice? --Firestorm 05:38, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Before we divvy up the work, we should hammer out exactly what the work is. We can let it simmer the discussion found here is also going to contribute to how the style guide defines the Trivia sections, so we can work it out there with anyone else that has something to say on the matter. Sometime during this week (hopefully tomorrow, but by the day after at the latest) I want to do a quick catalogue of the pages that include trivia sections, then create a table similar to the hat and weapon checklist people use on their userpages. That way, we can just pick and choose which pages we want to work on, then check them off when they're done so that we know what has and has not been done at a glance. If I can't work out a table like that then I'll just resort to a simple text list. Just a quick note: I did a quick count and it looks like there are a total of 286 Trivia sections on the Wiki, not counting other languages. We've got quite a bit of work ahead! -- Alex2539 07:07, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Well done so far, you two. I enjoy not having to monitor your edits because I know you've got things under control. Reminder to you, Subtlefuge, to fill out the table here every now and then, to smooth things out --Firestorm 04:59, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

The Severed Head trivia

Heya Subtlefuge,

About the trivia you removed about Max's Severed Head, the trivia was a very wordy and needed major condensing, but I feel that it is relevant trivia. It explains why the hat is a severed head in the first place. I say reconsider the trivia but slim it down to a sentence or two.

Something like : "The severed head theme of Max's Severed Head Hat is a running gag from the Sam and Max series where the in-game president appeared headless. When the Max character became president in-game, he too received a severed head." Alsoodani 21:43, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

But it wasn't relevant trivia. It wasn't even true. There's no running gag about severed heads. There's literally one severed head, which is stuffed in the closet as a trophy. One. The cap isn't a reference to anything but Max himself. Only the description refers to something more, and that trivia is already written. Zoolooman 22:00, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
The severed head is a direct reference to season 3, any other connection is pure speculation. The trivia edit stands. --Subtlefuge 22:15, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
In that case, let the trivia stay destroyed. It seemed believable that this happened in-game the way that guy wrote the trivia. *shrugs* Alsoodani 22:16, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
It's definitely believable, and if you can get a quote from Telltale, I will personally add it back in. Unfortunately it doesn't inform anybody of anything. It's really just that we are deleting all trivia that doesn't have a strong purpose. If you are interested in more details, I encourage you to check out the trvia guidelines section. Thanks for your understanding. --Subtlefuge 22:21, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the style guide link. It makes checking for "trivial" trivia more concise. I will keep the rules in mind. Alsoodani 01:18, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

Familiar Fez Trivia

Noticed that you removed my trivia. Would like to know why. H.Gaspar 22:52, 20 October 2010 (UTC)

I see grammar, spelling, and relevancy issues. --Subtlefuge 01:00, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
The trivia was irrelevant? It was just a minor information, I know. But still a trivia. Couldn't it just have the grammar corrected? --H.Gaspar 14:10, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

The TFC pages

Why would a TF2 wiki need pages on TFC things? If this wiki were about the Team Fortress series in general then obviously they'd be included, but as it stands it makes no sense to include them. Toomai Glittershine 01:32, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

This is the Team Fortress Wiki, not limited to TF2. The move was intended since the beginning (see this) — Wind 01:35, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
In that case, perhaps things like the logo and the about page should be changed to reflect that this is not a TF2-only wiki, because without seeing that page you linked one would have no idea. Toomai Glittershine 01:41, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Not yet. Subtlefuge's work is the only TFC content we have right now. -The Neotank ( | Talk) User The Neotank Signeotank.jpg 01:43, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Hey boyee

A while ago I was working on a main page for the Classic pages. However, the front page design has changed since last time, and I don't want to work on it and get shot down after I'm done. So, my question is, is it a good idea having a "main page" for the Classic games? All you need to do is link to it from the sidebar. Darkman 4 08:22, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Smashman's already hooking us up, so don't worry about it. --Subtlefuge 08:25, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Kewl. I have some class icons made if you're interested. They're cropped versions of the TFC model images. Darkman 4 08:28, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Just to let you know

I've fixed all of the pages that linked to the Crowbar, DB Shotty and Hand Grenade. Darkman 4 08:45, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

All now includes the Scout, Soldier, Spy and Sniper Classic pages. --Mechlord 11:15, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Good, keep up the good work guys. --Subtlefuge 17:50, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Single/Double-Barrel Shotguns

It's been a long time since I've played, does TFC actually refer to these weapons by those names? I'm more familiar with the Quake names, Shotgun and Super Shotgun, and was under the impression that TFC used the same. Dragonsbrethren 11:08, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

TFC has entirely different names for many items. If you're unfamiliar with TFC, I'm sure there's some other things that need to be done around the wiki. --Subtlefuge 17:48, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Undone Edit...

Why has my edit been undone? I do believe, voiding the midget part, it was useful information.

Ah, t'was nothin'.

No worries, love! Just trying to help and keep the wiki up and about. --Vaught 20:56, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Then...=

How do I make redirects on my language wiki? And I don't think those romanian words will add up in the EN wiki. Vulturas 10:43, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

TF2 Backpack Examiner Page

Why did you delete half the stuff on TF2 Backpack Examiner? I didn't write all of it, but most of it was informative and as far as I could tell followed the quality standards. Drunken F00l 05:54, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

I understand your concern. The information isn't really gone, it's just been moved around and trimmed a bit. I can honestly say that it's a lot better now, but I can see why you would possibly disagree. Lots of the information was repetitive or not encyclopedic in nature (i.e. site tutorials and easter eggs). If you could come up with a way to display the easter eggs outside of the Trivia section and in a less cumbersome manner, I'd be glad to put it back in for you. Thanks. --Subtlefuge 08:04, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
