Where's the taunting and hit the Soldier at the fence to show hit yellow word? User Hinaomi Hinaomi-sig.png Hinaomi (talk) - (contributions) 11:57, 5 August 2012 (PDT)
I didn't think I needed to show that for this weapon and I did the taunt in my first take but forgot it in my second(While recording I probably was going to do it during the airblast but forgot). Thanks for the feedback and I will redo that tonight. OrangeJuicePanda 13:36, 5 August 2012 (PDT)
Finally finished, sorry it took so long I was having problems rendering. http://youtu.be/EcJIs6WhGho OrangeJuicePanda 19:58, 6 August 2012 (PDT)
Notice on somethings
  • Another bleeding weapon didn't show mini-crit, don't show that.
  • Reflect part, it can deal damage when reflect. Reflect to yourself in that part to show it can deal damage when reflect.
The rest is good... User Hinaomi Hinaomi-sig.png Hinaomi (talk) - (contributions) 13:28, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
Alright redoing it now. OrangeJuicePanda 13:57, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
If you're going to show that it mini-crits with the Soda Popper, shouldn't you show it would/wouldn't also do that with the Fan o' War? Combatjellyfish 15:32, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
The weapon minicrits on it's own. The soda popper isn't being demonstrated.
Check the most recent version. He demonstrates that it mini-crits in close distance with the Soda Popper. Combatjellyfish 15:55, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
Hmm. So you're right, I must;ve missed that. Yeah, there's no reason to show the soda popper in this demo. — Armisael (T | C) 15:33, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
The main reason I included that was because I didn't think that actually applied to bleed out so I felt it was noteworthy enough to be in the demonstration. OrangeJuicePanda 20:40, 7 August 2012 (PDT)
Here goes~
  • Since you have the non-stock Sandman equipped in the first clip, you should show it. It's invisible right now because it is covered up by the Flying Guillotine tooltip
  • Wait just a little more after stunning the soldier, to give players more time to realize that he is stunned
  • Very confusing animations when killing the medic. It doesn't look like you throw the knife, and then it looks like you swing the bat for no apparent reason
  • Don't crouch at 0:58 (??)
  • Fades are too long; half a second of fading is usually enough
  • Wait a little more before throwing the weapon at the medic at 1:15 (the fade is not even done at that point)
  • Make sure to always run wepaonref.cfg. It appears that you didn't do it in the clip at 1:35; you can tell by looking at Medic's coat, with the LOD changing as you get closer
  • Weapon thrown way too soon at 1:51 (give it some time)
  • Wait a little more before getting minicrits in that clip (try so that about 60% of the hits are non-mini-crits)
  • No need to kill the Medic in that clip, it can be ended after the minicrit-bleeding is done
  • YouTube cut out the ending clip (end the sound a little before the video does to prevent this)

Wind 17:00, 8 August 2012 (PDT)

Thank you for the response I will get to work on that I just got back on from a mini vacation so I will get right to work on this weapon demonstration. Also I can't wait a little when stunning the soldier otherwise I can't get the critical due to the stun not lasting long enough. OrangeJuicePanda 19:46, 11 August 2012 (PDT)
That's ok then. I just mean that you should wait as long as possible — Wind 05:14, 13 August 2012 (PDT)

http://www.youtu.be/qID2-t3H8AM Alternatively, one with the long-range throw folded into the first clip. — Armisael (T | C) 10:36, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
Could you do that one again, but before throwing it at the sniper, run to see the Sniper from up close , and then go back? As it stands, the Sniper is not really visible at the default youtube player size. It's clearer in the version with a dedicated clip because camera placement and the fact that it's a clip at all means that there must be something at the other end of the throw. Here, it's not as clear, so make it explicitly clear by close to the sniper before throwing it — Wind 11:26, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
I'm going to drop the project and hand it to Armisael. I have been having way to many problems rendering. That is why I haven't been doing much on it because whenever I finally have a good render that has the sound synced with the video I realize another way I could improve then I would have to redo it. Anyways, Armisael feel free to take it at this point and I will change the reservation to you. OrangeJuicePanda 14:58, 19 August 2012 (PDT)

That's all i know it need to demonstration User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 12:03 , 8/7/2012 (PDT)
A few problems to my eye (since wind is largely not present):
  • Engineer is visible for a few seconds in the sentry comparison clip.
  • Always have the stock sapper on the left for comparison clips
  • When you're sapping a building, the building's targetid is covering parts of the building, so it's hard to get a good look at them.
  • You don't show the 'placing a sapper' animations for disguises.
Anyways, just my two cents. Feel free to ignore. — Armisael (T | C) 09:56, 6 August 2012 (PDT)
Here goes~
  • What Armisael said, especially the HUD box hiding the building. Try to position the mouse so that the building is clearly visible and not covered by the HUD. If you can do that and show the HUD box at the same time, then that's great; otherwise, then look slightly away so that the box doesn't show, since the health is still shown in the corner of the screen anyway.
  • In the first clip, hide the Engineer, then sap sentry (like you did), then sap Dispenser (without the engineering wrenching it), then sap the teleporters (like you did, with the revolver shots as well). Don't show the spam-sappers-on-dispenser in that clip.
  • Show a split-screen speed comparison of sapping a level 1 sentry and a level 2 sentry (insert them before the level 3 sentry split-screen clip)
  • Be consistent in left/right split-screens; always put the red tape on the right (you did that for the level 3 sentry but not for the dispenser and teleporter)
  • Add a clip at the end of the demonstrations, with a dispenser and an engineer that shows how long it takes to destroy a dispenser by spamming sappers

Wind 17:00, 8 August 2012 (PDT)

I also forgot: Show what the toolbox does. Pick it up as both a spy and an engineer to show ammo refill, metal refill, cloak gain, etc. — Wind 00:49, 9 August 2012 (PDT)
Would it be possible to show a Mini-Sentry being sapped? As I recall, the sapped animation is much slower than the normal (re)building animation, and the Mini-Sentry regains health despite the fact it cannot be repaired.
Also, I was wondering as to the general consensus about this versus the normal Sapper demonstration. Since these demonstrations were made with the intention that there was no other Sapper, a lot of things have been added, such as: the disguised sapper placement animations, Sapper placement during numerous building demonstrations etc. What should be done about those things?
User Upgrade Signature.png 13:15, 9 August 2012 (PDT)
These things don't really affect gameplay. so no need to demonstrate them much — Wind 05:14, 13 August 2012 (PDT)

http://youtu.be/ZiVQqVKC9mw User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 11:31 , 8/13/2012 (PDT)

  • Missing destruction sound when the teleporter entrance is destroyed in the first clip (?)
  • Progressively-increasing audio/video desynchronization in first clip. Look at 1:00, the time between the moment the spy takes the toolbox and the moment the "ammo pickup" sound is played. This is a longstanding source recorder bug when rendering demos with large framerate. You need to do a second render with a low framerate, and use the audio from that render with the video from the first render with the high framerate.
  • No sapping sound from either sapper during the teleporter split-screen clip
  • I just realized that the video doesn't currently show the advantage of using this sapper: that the building's level decrease stays after the sapper is gone. This is kind of shown during the sapper-spamming in the last clip but it's not very clear because there's a lot going on in the clip and the dispenser's levels are not very easy to distinguish. I think it may be worth adding a new clip (that goes before the sapper-spamming clip) with a RED engineer bot with a level 3 sentry in front of him and a level 3 dispenser full of metal behind him. As a spy, sap the building a little and have the engineer destroy the sapper very quickly. Wait for 2 or 3 seconds, then have him repair it back to full health and fully upgraded. Then sap a little longer but not enough to make it go back to level 1 (to show the extent of time that the engineer has to remove the sapper before the sentry goes to level 1), wait a few seconds, and have the engineer upgrade+repair the sentry. Then sap longer so that the sentry goes back to level 1, have him destroy the sapper, wait a few seconds, and then repair+upgrade it again. During all of the clip, stare at the sentry like you do in the dispenser sapper-spamming clip so that the current health, level, and upgrade progress are always visible

http://youtu.be/dHm0kvVgh8A , at 3:05 i know the ubercharge HUD meter is not same as the current medigun video at 3:23. i tired each hud on the Weapon Demonstration Splitscreen HUDs_0 3 way splitscreen none of them is same as the current medigun video at 3:23. User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 1:45 , 8/5/2012 (PDT)
Things~
  • There is a frame of full black between the backpack view and the first game clip. It makes the screen blink
  • Are you using an srcdemo shutter angle of 360 or something? It looks very blurry. Please don't use more than 180 degrees. This applies to the other demonstrations too, except the Alien Swarm Parasite because it would take too long to re-render all of that
  • Please use 10-seconds intervals in the 3-way split-screen comparison, like the other medigun demos. This is important, as the heal numbers are very different as you can see by the numbers shown in this video (the same values, at the beginning)
  • In the ubercharge clip at 3:30, when the uber is at 50% or so, move in front of the heavy to show that you too are invincible
  • In the spy ubercharge clip, before ubering, have the spy change disguise to show if healing continues, then remove the disguise to show that healing stops, then re-disguise, re-heal, uber, then again change the disguise (in the middle of the uber) and break the disguise (still in the middle of the uber)
  • The can't-uber-someone-with-the-intel could be demonstrated better:
    • Have two BLU bots (heavy and a sniper or something), and one RED soldier aiming at the desk, with the intel intact on there, uber ready
    • Uber the heavy
    • Make the heavy pick up the intel (while being ubered) to show the uber drop
    • While the uber is still going on, switch between the heavy and the sniper to show that the uber still works on regular bots
    • While the uber is still going on, have the Soldier fire at the heavy to show that the uber does not work on him (do this at the same time as the previous step)
Not easy (you probably need a human to help you insted of bots) but I think it would be clearer that way. Maybe it won't be clear if the uber is too short and not all of this can be demonstrated properly because there is not enough time. If that is the case, then go for something simpler (uber heavy, heavy walks to pick up flag, uber dies).
  • If you're going to show ubercharge-intelligence interaction, you should also show cannot-cap-point-with-ubercharge-but-can-defend-it, and cannot-move-cart-with-ubercharge-but-can-block-it

That should do it~ — Wind 16:20, 8 August 2012 (PDT)

Sapper Sapper

It needs to show that you can sap robots on MvM. Xeoxer 10:33, 19 August 2012 (PDT)

Are we demonstrating MvM abilities in this project? That's a lot of redoes. — Armisael (T | C) 10:36, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
Definitely not upgrades, but capabilities such as the Sapper being usable on robots is something that may be worth demonstrating. The problem is that it's not very easy to demonstrate without making a full MvM game, but then with all the robots moving around and shooting it won't be clear what's happening. Thus it should be demonstrated only if there's a way to demonstrate it clearly, with an isolated, non-aggressive, preferably immobile robot, as done in current weapon demonstrations — Wind 11:26, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
If we redo this one, we'll also need to redo every video with special abilities - jars for slow, bullet weapons for penetration, huntsman for a variety of things, sandman for marking, and so on. There's a lot of weapons there. — Armisael (T | C) 11:30, 19 August 2012 (PDT)

Why not have it as a separate demonstration series? "Mann vs. Machine Weapon Demonstrations", showing all the possible upgrades and abilities and such? Would that be easier than just redoing every weapon?--Uknownada 21:39, 21 August 2012 (PDT)

Pictogram nope.png Nope.avi It needs to redo on many weapon and some of them can't show without robots. I don't think it's really need to redo enough, just only gameplay specific. User Hinaomi Hinaomi-sig.png Hinaomi (talk) - (contributions) 12:31, 22 August 2012 (PDT)
I think a separate series for mvm demonstrations would be a good idea. Some of the weapons are so wildly different that they don't really belong in the same video. — Armisael (T | C) 12:33, 22 August 2012 (PDT)

Unarmed Combat Unarmed Combat

Fraps still won't allow the jigglebone prefect :( , is there any other recorder with "No Lags?" User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 8:50 , 4 July 2012 (PDT)

There's the Source Recorder (records .TGAs that later have to be put togheter transformed into an .AVI file). You can check this post from '09 on SPUF. kill 20:32, 4 July 2012 (PDT)
That's what SrcDemo2 requires, so if he tried SrcDemo2 then he tried that too, by proxy. Also we have help pages on the wiki itself about thatWind 20:41, 4 July 2012 (PDT)
It's not fraps doing that, fraps doesn't communicate with the game in any way. The fact that jigglebones don't work is because at some point in the game, the frame rate dropped under a threshold that the source engine considers "too low", at which point it disables jigglebones because it thinks that it will increase framerate. No, I don't know of any good recorder, but you did manage to get them working when you did the Holy Mackerel demo recently. Do what you did in that video and that's it~ — Wind 20:41, 4 July 2012 (PDT)

You paid for it? ...Uh...well, if you did pay for it (and didn't "bypass a barrier"), I sure hope you know your computer is fast enough to handle 30+ fps on Fraps, because otherwise all that money will have been spent for nothing, and you'll have to use Source Recorder and SrcDemo2. If you just "bypassed a barrier," then have fun testing. Remember to read the requirements and guidelines for uploading a video. I'd rather not get into it too much, as it isn't really your business, but I have the full version of Fraps. Also, I am making sure, it just doesn't work. EDIT: Turns out the commands "+critsplease" and "-critsplease" aren't recognized. Anybody know the reason why? Spam90675 08:01, 12 July 2012 (PDT)
If you look at the bottom of the page, you'll see all of us are completely fine with cracked. I'm just concerned if you paid for it, because there's a large possibility it won't even work for the weapon demonstration. Stating that you didn't pay for it is okay. Anyway, regarding the crits not working, is everything else from weaponref.cfg working (i.e. is sv_cheats on 1, tf_weapon_criticals on 0, etc.)? EDIT: The problem has been fixed via Steam chat. Also, Spam is going to be using Source Recorder and SrcDemo2, as jigglebones didn't work with Fraps for him either.

Jigglebones won't work in srcdemo2; I can guarantee you that. You need to use FRAPS (or some other screen capture program) and cl_jiggle_bone_framerate_cutoff 1. — Armisael (T | C) 09:21, 12 July 2012 (PDT)
Really? Jigglebones doesn't? That is unfortunate. Okay, I'll keep that in mind. Mr. Vinderack, not as sober as you...thin..yah... 10:05, 12 July 2012 (PDT)

Few things:
  • Quality seems a bit on the low side for high definition.
  • Very fast-paced video. Slow it down a bit next time.
  • During the Soldier segment, try to attack at a consistent rate. Waiting before the second hit is generally used for the Pyro segment.
  • This might just be me, but if I am correct, as of the Pyromania Update, the Unarmed Combat should now have a taunt. If not, then disregard this.

Good for a first try! Mr. Vinderack, not as sober as you...thin..yah... 21:30, 12 July 2012 (PDT)

Actually, my first try was worse. However, since I uploaded that video, I made a new version, that includes jigglebones as well as the taunt. When the weapon turns inside out at the forced crits in this video, that's part of the actual weapon bug. Try it out yourself, if you'd like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hJadUrsWk4 Spam90675 22:36, 12 July 2012 (PDT)
I will check it out soon. A bit busy right now. Mr. Vinderack, not as sober as you...thin..yah... 23:03, 12 July 2012 (PDT)
This looks like upscaled-to-720p video. Are you sure you recorded at the right resolution and didn't set Fraps to record at half-size? Sound also sounds distorted. Perhaps you have some sort of audio driver program that modifies your sound to increase the bass or the treble or something, but this certainly doesn't sound like most demonstrations do. Also, jigglebones are .required, and this definitely won't do :( It's very hard to get them to work, but it is possible, or at least has been despite being hit-and-miss. Framerate looks a little pokey too — Wind 22:24, 13 July 2012 (PDT)
You watched the second version, right? The second version has jigglebones and (I think) fixed audio. Also, I have Fraps set to 60 FPS, full size, and loop uffer every 30 seconds. Anything I should change there? Spam90675 00:17, 14 July 2012 (PDT)
Yes, the second version has jigglebones but they're clearly not behaving correctly. Fraps isn't at fault for low framerate, Fraps just takes what it can get, and if it can't get enough frames, then... it can't get enough frames. So the framerate won't be 60 even if it's set to 60. 60 is just the maximum number of frames that fraps tries to take every second. — Wind 11:52, 14 July 2012 (PDT)
The bugs that are seen in the video are documented on the Wiki's page. Also, my laptop is top of the line, so if you're trying to imply that it'd my computer's fault, then you're wrong. Spam90675 05:32, 16 July 2012 (PDT)
I am saying that this video has insufficient video quality, low framerate, and distorted audio. Whether that's because of bad hardware or bad drivers or faulty game engine or wrong recording settings or wrong encoding settings or a combination of these things doesn't matter; what matters is the result of that on the video. As for the jigglebones, whether it's a documented bug or not, it's a bug, and the behavior that they show on that second version makes the demonstration not very presentable, as you can see — Wind 00:46, 17 July 2012 (PDT)

I have this problem where I activate crits and some weird text shows up in the chat box. I need some help

Here's the video if you need to take a look Ben10508 08:12, 20 August 2012 (PDT)

The text is entirely normal - that's the server notifying you that the tags have changed. Your issue is that your chat box is showing up at all. Start a server, exec weaponref, and then type hud_saytext_time in console. It should be 0. If not, set it to 0 (and then check your copy of the config to make sure that line's there). — Armisael (T | C) 08:22, 20 August 2012 (PDT)

Me neither, I'd put it under the same category as "cosmetic things that don't affect gameplay" like the Wrangler hand-shaking animation. I think the page is pretty clear on this: no random crits + no special condition to trigger crits (without another weapon) = no redo. However, it is true that the Chargin' Targe is pretty much made to override this behavior and to give crits to melee weapons for the Demoman. The question is up for opinions then I guess. Pictogram cross.png No When a weapon is demonstrated, it is the *only* weapon being demonstrated. There are rare examples of this (such as the ali baba's wee booties, and the Flying Guillotine), but the number of possible interactions between weapons is too great to show them all, and the current logic for showing multiple weapons in one demo is if that weapon has a special effect (Axtinguisher crit on fire) that it is impossible to demonstrate with only that weapon. For non-crit-boostable weapons, there is no custom animation or glow (afaik), which were the two key goals for this makeover (aside from just general quality.) For demonstrations for the following items: Alien Swarm Parasite, Triboniophorus Tyrannus, Teddy Roosebelt, Pocket Medic, Cremator's Conscience, Bird-Man of Aberdeen, and Balloonicorn, I recommend this format (NOTE: Pyrovisions goggles are needed for the demonstration):

  • Go into thirdperson, showing the item, then back to firstperson.
  • Kill the Pyro with the Melee Weapon
  • Kill the Soldier with the Secondary Weapon
  • Kill the Medic with the Primary weapon
  • (ENGINEER Only): Perhaps killing an enemy with sentries of all levels, including the mini-sentry.
  • Next clip, go to thridperson, still have the item, but no Pyrovision goggles. Kill an enemy, showing that it only works in Pyrovision.

Hopefully this format will be helpful to all demonstrators. --Akuago220, The Jungle Expeditioner 21:39, 7 July 2012 (PDT)

Very nice! It's not really my job, but since I'm here, I'll point out a few things:
  • Quality could probably be upped a bit.
  • On the second phrase of the video, in which you show the Pocket Medic being used without the Pyrovision Goggles, I would recommend moving the mouse off the Pocket Medic briefly. The description covers up the slot where the Pyrovision Goggles would go, so although it can be inferred, it isn't exactly clear that you're not wearing Pyrovision Goggles from the loadout screen.

Much better than my first try. Good job! Mr. Vinderack, not as sober as you...thin..yah... 21:27, 9 July 2012 (PDT)

Haha, no problem. :> I'd advise you to also wait for Wind to reply before finalizing, though. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mr. Vinderack (talk) • (contribs)
The demonstration is kind of backwards, showing with goggles first and then without. It should show the common/default state first, and then show what happens with the goggles on. This does mean a longer demonstration since now both the nogoggles the goggles parts need to each have the usual 3 kills, but that's okay. Also do consider using Source Recorder to get a higher quality video and a more consistent framerate. More importantly, don't forget to reload according to the guidelines (ctrl+f reloading on project page). Fades to backpack view are a bit long, and the time you stay in the backpack view is a bit short. Is all, thanks~ — Wind 18:34, 10 July 2012 (PDT)

Hmm, well that's quite a lot of stuff to fix but I'll do it. I'm using Fraps to record my screen, usually it's smooth but I think it was just that time it lagged a bit and as you can see Wind, no more black bars :D Ben10508 09:42, 11 July 2012 (PDT)

That's normal to have to redo a lot of stuff. I had to make four demonstrations before I got accepted. Regarding Fraps, I actually doubt it was lag. I used Fraps for my very first demonstration, and it produced a similar video. Then, I switched to Source Recorder and eventually used SrcDemo2. That's how I got my quality to be pretty great, so I really do recommend using Source Recorder and SrcDemo2. If you need any help, I'll definitely be willing if you're going to do it. A quality demonstration is a good demonstration. Mr. Vinderack, not as sober as you...thin..yah... 10:19, 11 July 2012 (PDT)

Much better than the first one. However:
  • Though not a huge problem, the looping of the music is quite botched. I recommend using Karmacharger's version of the long demonstration video music (see near-bottom).

That's actually the only thing I see wrong. The quality could be a bit better, but I would say it's acceptable. Mr. Vinderack, not as sober as you...thin..yah... 08:20, 12 July 2012 (PDT)

Alrighty then Ben10508 08:54, 12 July 2012 (PDT)

Also, when I put the Pyrovision goggles on, it doesn't look like in what the demonstration for the Rainblower looks like. Someone help? Ben10508 12:41, 13 July 2012 (PDT)

Okay, clearly I didn't think this through when I said to show the default state first, because the viewer won't really know what to look for in that clip until afterwards in the second part. So, sorry about that but err... My bad. However, now that I think about it more, maybe it would best be demonstrated as a split-screen, with the default on the left and the pyrovision on the right. That way the killfeed difference is easier to notice, rather than having those elements spaced by a large time gap of a few dozen seconds where it's easy to forget what's different. So I'd say try doing that; put an enemy in front of you and kill him in both modes (with same starting positions, getpos/setpos/bot_teleport with the prmary weapon, and do that again (in other clips) for secondary and melee. Then do the same for the Heavy. I think that should make it much clearer~ (Make sure to use the split-screen HUD with the kill feed showing properly on a left/right split-screen).
Also yes, it should show pyrovision elements other than the balloons and the modified voice line choices. — Wind 22:24, 13 July 2012 (PDT)

I figured out to get the split screen to work but does both the screens have to have the same actions at the SAME EXACT time? I think that'll be a little hard to do that. Plus, how come when I put the Pyrovision Goggles on, it's not like what's it's supposed to be like? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ben10508 (talk) • (contribs)

It's not as hard as you think. Just make the clips' content start at the same time and trim them to be the same length. The entire process only takes about 45 seconds for each clip, so it will take approximately two and a half minutes to synchronize all the clips. If you really need help or still do not understand, though, I will make a tutorial video on the concept (and maybe even the entire weapon demonstration process). Ask me if you need any more help or if you need the video. Mr. Vinderack, not as sober as you...thin..yah... 01:48, 14 July 2012 (PDT)

Well, I can make the lengths of both the videos the same, but say that I have two videos and they demonstration a weapon. I fire the weapon err gun whatever, I fire the gun at different times. Do you get what I'm trying to say? Ben10508 01:59, 14 July 2012 (PDT)

If I do split screen for this, how will I show the backpack view? Ben10508 08:53, 15 July 2012 (PDT)

Do a full-screen backpack view with the item equipped, and then put labels on each side of the screen as done on the Mantreads demo (make sure to use the same font, same color, same size, but possible different location since the pyrovision frame thingy around the edge of the screen may make the label unreadable) — Wind 10:27, 15 July 2012 (PDT)

So how about this, I show a backpack view without the goggles, the go into third person with no bots. Then I do the same but with the goggles, then do a split screen thing? Oh and, whenever I put on the goggles, I never see the Pyrovision frame and everything else, just the balloons and the altered voice clips. Also, how do I get the Team Fortress 2 styled font? Ben10508 13:32, 15 July 2012 (PDT)

Yes, that beginning sequence would work. The fonts are already in the game files, in tf/resource as described on the Fonts article, which also has download links to those fonts. — Wind 13:52, 15 July 2012 (PDT)

Bad music mixing at 0:28 - 0:31 and 0:53 - 0:58 etc. The kill notices (which are the most important thing to show in this particular demonstration) are not fully visible >: Split-screen is also not exactly 50%-50%, and look a bit stretched horizontally (?). Font is a bit big (again use Mantreads as reference). There also needs longer clip intro/outro times. Also, as it is clearly hard to synchronize all 3 kills in a single take across both split-screen clips (although this is a very nice attempt), you may want to do 3 separate clips for each weapon, or just one clip with only one kill. Is probably enough to show what needs to be shown, and simpler to do — Wind 14:21, 26 July 2012 (PDT)

Hmm, it seems a little complicated to do 3 separate clips for each weapon. Can I just stick with one clip with just one kill (similar to the Triboniophorus Tyrannus video)? I can still use split screen though Ben10508 17:40, 26 July 2012 (PDT)

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, what size should the font be for the text? Ben10508 18:28, 26 July 2012 (PDT)

This is my first demonstration :D 23:40, 17 July 2012 (PDT) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uetOmsWszTc&feature=youtu.be BulletproofKevin

It's not bad at all, but sadly we are discussing another format for these demonstrations in the "Pocket Medic" section of this page. You should probably wait until one such video is finished, and then use that as a template. Other than that the video is alright, except that the Spy is visible (he shouldn't unless it's tauntkill time), the volume is very very low (open this demonstration and an existing demonstration side by side with the same volume and compare), and the audio is low-fidelity (it sounds like a 64kbps MP3 or something. Use uncompressed PCM audio, it's not that large) — Wind 12:12, 19 July 2012 (PDT)
Okay, I'll wait until the Pocket Medic video is out. BulletproofKevin 15:03, 19 July 2012 (PDT)

There is a crit sound at 0:55 (last hit). That's the only bad thing about it~ — Wind 14:34, 14 August 2012 (PDT)
Now should be no more crit User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 4:48 , 8/15/2012 (PDT)

tr_target_weaponref_hdr_v2

Guys a little edit of tr_target_weaponref_hdr map.

Tr target weaponref hdr v2.png
  • Added Lights in the dark room , right side where the soldier standing at.
  • Added Resupply Locker
  • Resupply Locker is for Red/Blu

Test the map here. after changed item you don't need to die or rejoin anymore just use the Resupply Locker. let me know if it's useful. User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 10:54 , 31 July 2012 (PDT)

it should replace the old map link because some glitch like Rocket not show when taunt with Buff Banner can fixed with resupply. And Ullapool Caber can use resupply locker to before explode. User Hinaomi Hinaomi-sig.png Hinaomi (talk) - (contributions) 08:15, 31 July 2012 (PDT)
I will see it when I have a computer that has TF2 on it and which can load maps, which isn't going to happen for a while. How exactly did you go about decompiling/recompiling the map? The lighting in tr_target_weaponref_hdr can only be achieved using some pretty arcane command-line switches which I don't know right now because it's on my desktop at home but make sure the lighting looks exactly the same (getpos/setpos at the same position in both versions the map, take two screenshots, and compare them to check if it looks the same) — Wind 17:10, 1 August 2012 (PDT)
Before --- After User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 1:14 , 8/15/2012 (PDT)
As you can see, the lighting is missing some details; you can't see the shape of the windows on the crates on the left, for example, and the diffuse lighting is different, making things such as the side of the metal airduct at the top of the screenshot here. I'll try recompiling the map from source to see if I can get the compile options used. As for the modified map, I think it would be better if I gave you the source file of the map and you do the modifications there, as to prevent any potential loss of detail when decompiling the map — Wind 14:34, 14 August 2012 (PDT)
The compile options are -StaticPropPolys -textureshadows -StaticPropLighting -full -final with both HDR and LDR enabled; don't forget to rebuild the cubemaps as well. You can use VBCT to make things a bit easier — Wind 14:46, 14 August 2012 (PDT)

is anyone looking for longer version of each demonstration music?

5 minutes version of each songs , it is for these people who needed this. ending sound is another file so don't worry. User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 09:12 , 5 July 2012 (PDT)

http://www.mediafire.com/?3o4xsap1s51k253. Here is a 10 minute version of it if anyone needs this Ben10508 09:22, 24 August 2012 (PDT)

Are there any other video recorders besides Wegame or Fraps?

Wegames isn't working for me, as it won't record properly, and I can't spend money on Fraps. Any other alternatives? --Enthers. (I find this work intriguing. How about yourself, sir?) 21:33, 17 June 2012 (PDT)

dxtory maybe, but it's not free and haven't tried it. I used to use Taksi years ago (very very long ago), it probably doesn't work with recent games though. Otherwise, this is the Internet, so I'm sure you can find ways around barriers — Wind 22:09, 17 June 2012 (PDT)
But if I use any other video recorder, is that allowed? Do I need to use the full version of fraps? --Enthers. (I find this work intriguing. How about yourself, sir?) 22:35, 17 June 2012 (PDT)
you can find the cracked version of fraps , search on youtube make sure many peoples commented it's work. i'm also using the cracked version. User Karmacharger Charger 2.png Karmacharger 06:48 , 17 June 2012 (PDT)
The only reason the full version of fraps is required is that it includes a watermark at the top of the video, which is unacceptable. Any screen recorder can be used, as long as no traits are left. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pigophone (talk) • (contribs) 07:23, 18 June 2012
I use Bandicam myself, works well. --Org 22:40, 12 July 2012 (PDT)

Kill-Assist Video Demonstration Request

I have no idea what should be shown, but at the moment there is only this:
Assist demo.png
, and that is not really a "fluent" Demonstration. So let's talk about that, shall we? TheDoctor 19:09, 26 July 2012 (PDT)

Pictogram plus.png Support This image is not from official map. We should do at least image or video. 08:40, 27 July 2012 (PDT)

Strange Weapons

Just an idea I had, but would it be a good idea to demonstrate how strange weapons accumulate ranks? --Dattix 16:38, 1 August 2012 (PDT)

Again not as part of the weapon demonstration project (although it is closely related). Feel free to use this talk page for that though because I'm not sure where else it'd be put — Wind 17:10, 1 August 2012 (PDT)
