Whoo, that was close.
The Engineer finding his mostly unaffected treasure

The Barely-Melted Capacitor is a cosmetic item for all classes. The text on it reads '6.22V1800'. Like the Glitched Circuit Board, this item doesn't change the appearance of any of the classes when equipped. Along with the Fireproof Secret Diary, this item was not visibly affected by the Pyromania Update, and was not removed in the July 11, 2012 Patch.

It was originally added in the June 19, 2012 Patch, as the Damaged Capacitor, a crafting ingredient. After the August 11, 2012 Patch, the Barely-Melted Capacitor became a cosmetic item.

Up until an unknown date, performing a high five with another player, whether they are wearing another Capacitor or not, led to a message in the form of a "...walks in to a bar" joke being shown in the chatbox.[citation needed]
