Halloween in Team Fortress 2 has been celebrated twice in the form of special event updates. Traditionally, these updates have introduced achievements and new items to be obtained through play on a specific event map. The two Halloween events have also incorporated additional elements to the backstory of the game through the update's hidden pages, most notably featuring the Mann Family.

The event lasted from October 29, 2009, to November 9, 2009.

The October 27, 2010 Patch, dubbed Scream Fortress, is the second annual Halloween celebration in Team Fortress 2. The update introduced the Mann Manor event map, featuring the Haunted Halloween Gift and the non-playable character the Horseless Headless Horsemann. The event also reused the Pumpkin bombs and Halloween pumpkins of the previous event and reimplemented the Thriller Taunt. The Ghostchievements set of achievements were also added to the game.

The Scream Fortress event saw the introduction of several Halloween-themed items. Among them were the Unusual Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker, new Halloween Masks, the Saxton Hale Mask, the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Head, the Voodoo Juju, the Spine-Chilling Skull, and two new community-contributed hats, the Cadaver's Cranium and the Horrific Headsplitter. The crafting item Haunted Metal Scrap in addition to corresponding blueprints enabled players to obtain the various new event items.
