Loch-n-Load publicity blurb

The Loch-n-Load is a community-made primary weapon for the Demoman. It is a double-barreled break-action grenade launcher, with its two grenades loaded in each barrel.

The weapon fires grenades that travel at approximately 1331 Hammer units per second, or around 56 miles per hour. These grenades inflict moderately more damage than the Grenade Launcher upon a direct hit; however, the grenades will shatter harmlessly upon hitting anything other than an enemy player or building, causing no damage whatsoever. The grenades additionally deal increased self-damage to the Demoman who fired them, making close combat riskier.

The kill icon for the Loch-n-Load was contributed by Psyke.

  • Grenades fired bounce off certain dynamic surfaces such as the moving walkways of Nucleus, as well as teammates.
  • While reloading, the Loch-n-Load will occasionally appear to load a third grenade.

  • As with the Grenade Launcher, the Loch-n-Load seems to be based on the M79 Grenade Launcher, except it has been modified with the addition of a second barrel, which makes it bear resemblance to the China Lake Grenade Launcher.
  • The Loch-n-Load's name is a pun on the phrase "Lock and Load", a cliché originating from the process of preparing a weapon for firing. "Loch" is a Scots and Scottish English word for lake, and could be a reference to its similarities to the China Lake Grenade Launcher.
  • Unlike the Grenade Launcher, the Demoman holds the end of the Loch-n-Load slightly above the crosshair, giving the appearance of firing at an arc. This does not affect the grenade's trajectory.
