Merasmus the Magician, referred to as MERASMUS! in-game, is the wizard roommate of the Soldier, who vowed to kill him and his friends in Doom-Mates.

Behavior

Like MONOCULUS, Merasmus will spawn during certain intervals of time, in which the player has a certain amount of time to defeat him before he disappears. Whenever Merasmus spawns, he will push any nearby players away and destroy any nearby sticky bombs. While Merasmus is alive, the point resets to neutral ownership and is unable to be captured, rendering the round temporarily unwinnable for either team. Merasmus' remaining health is displayed as a bar in a purple box near the top center of the screen.

Merasmus has several different attacks. When there are not many players nearby, Merasmus will attempt to melee nearby players, also tossing bombs with little range. Merasmus can also use a magic attack in which he launches all targeted players high into the air, lighting them on fire. He tends to use this attack when surrounded. Merasmus will teleport at random intervals to a different location on the map. More rarely, Merasmus will teleport directly over the control point and begin to hover over it, then use the Bombinomicon to spray bombs over the area around the point, usually killing any nearby players. At this time, all attacks directed towards him will become critical hits.

Throughout the battle, the Bombinomicon will help the player, randomly selecting them and placing a bomb over their head. The selected player must then run to Merasmus, at which point the bomb will detonate, stunning Merasmus and giving the player who stunned him limited ÜberCharge and all crits. Whenever Merasmus is stunned, all attacks directed towards him will be critical hits.

Whenever around half of Merasmus' health is depleted, and once more when Merasmus is almost dead, Merasmus will hide, disguising himself as a random prop, such as a chair, a piano, a palm tree, a pumpkin, a respawn locker, and more. While in this state, Merasmus' health bar will glow green. The player must find Merasmus by attacking the props surrounding them, several props will be scattered about the map. If the player destroys the incorrect prop, the prop will drop a Halloween pumpkin. If the player destroys the correct prop, Merasmus will be stunned for a short period of time and the player who found him will be given limited ÜberCharge and crits.
