Here's a gadget you should build, one what would stop my bullets!
The Sniper on piercing rounds

The Machina is a promotional primary weapon for the Sniper. It appears as a futuristic Sniper Rifle with the telescopic scope's cap lifted up. It is awarded to players in Genuine quality to those that pre-ordered Deus Ex: Human Revolution before August 22, 2011.

Unlike the default Sniper Rifle, this weapon cannot be fired unless you have zoomed in. Once zoomed in a fully-charged shot can deal an extra 15% damage and pierce through multiple enemies. This weapon also fires tracer rounds, which can easily give away your position to enemies.

Update history

August 18, 2011 Patch (Manno-Technology Bundle)

  • The item was added to the game.

Bugs

  • There is currently a glitch allowing players to get a piercing kill on two invulnerable enemies.
  • The Machina may randomly fire two bullets, with one bullet firing towards the intended target, and the other firing a few degrees higher at a diagonal angle out of the barrel.
  • When more than two enemies are killed with a single shot, the resulting fanfare for doing so plays overtop of itself for each additional kill. This can result in the fanfare playing at exceedingly loud levels.

Trivia

  • The weapon gets its name from the Latin phrase "deus ex machina" (literally meaning "god out of the machine"), which is a term used to describe a convenient plot device that abruptly appears out of nowhere and solves all of the problems the protagonist may be facing.
  • The Machina is the only sniper rifle with two distinct firing sounds. One when fully charged and one when not fully charged.
