Here's a gadget you should build, one what would stop my bullets!
The Sniper on piercing rounds

The Machina is a promotional primary weapon for the Sniper. It is a futuristic Sniper Rifle with a split barrel and soft grip.

While the Machina deals identical damage to default Sniper Rifle, it cannot be fired unless the player is utilizing the scope. A fully charged shot fired by the Machina can deliver an extra 15% damage and pierce through multiple enemies. Achieving a penetration kill with the Machina produces a unique fanfare. On the other hand, this weapon fires tracer rounds, which notifies nearby enemies of the Sniper's position.

It is awarded to players in Genuine quality to those that pre-ordered Deus Ex: Human Revolution before August 22, 2011.

Update history

August 18, 2011 Patch (Manno-Technology Bundle)

  • The Machina was added to the game.

Bugs

  • There is currently a glitch allowing players to get a piercing kill on two ÜberCharged enemies.
  • The Machina may randomly fire two bullets, with one bullet firing towards the intended target, and the other firing a few degrees higher at a diagonal angle out of the barrel.
  • When more than two enemies are killed with a single shot, the resulting fanfare for doing so plays overtop of itself for each additional kill. This can result in the fanfare playing at exceedingly loud levels.
  • Enemies that are struck by the same Full Charge shot may take different amounts of damage if random damage spread is enabled.

Trivia

  • The weapon gets its name from the Latin phrase "deus ex machina" (literally meaning "god out of the machine"), which is a term used to describe a convenient plot device that abruptly appears out of nowhere and solves all of the problems the protagonist may be facing.
  • Upon a successful double headshot where the bullet has penetrated and killed multiple players, a sound will play throughout the server to signal the occurance.
