Nightfall (Control Point) was an early prototype of Double Cross that was being developed after the release of Team Fortress 2 in 2007.
In 2010, one of the Valve employees Iikka Keranen was interviewed by Nodraw.net about the development of Double Cross. From this interview it became known that initially the map was developed in a Control Point mode and under a different name - Nightfall.[1] According to him, the first prototypes of the map with a night setting and the concept of a large bridge appeared back in August 2007, and full-fledged development was sometime in October-November after the release of the game.
The layout of the map is similar to the Badlands, with the same desert environment the released maps had.
