The <span class="plainlinks">Third Annual Scream Fortress Very Scary Halloween Special</span> was the event launched with the October 27, 2011 Patch, which included the release of a new version of Viaduct for the event known as Eyeaduct, new items, costumes, and two new Achievements. Players that logged on during the event also received a Halloween Goodie Cauldron.

The event began on October 27, 2011, and concluded at November 6, 2011 at 12am (UTC).

The <span class="plainlinks">Scream Fortress Update</span>, officially known as the Second Annu-Hell Scream Fortress Hauntdead Halloween Special, was the event launched with the October 27, 2010 Patch, which included the release of the two new Art Pass Contest-winning maps, new hats, new items, and new Ghostchievements as well as the reactivation of the 2009 Haunted Halloween Special's Scarechievements.

 +
It was the 2010 equivalent of the 2009 Haunted Halloween Special, becoming the second Halloween event to be held within Team Fortress 2.
 +

 +
Although the Scream Fortress page on the TF2 Official Website stated that the event would only last until November 8, 2010, the Haunted Halloween Gift stopped spawning at Mann Manor, and Halloween-only hats ceased to be wearable at around November 8 at 8am GMT. However, Halloween-restricted items like the Spine-Chilling Skull, Voodoo Juju, and Noise Maker continued to be available at the Mann Co. Store throughout the day.

The Horseless Headless Horsemann is a non-playable character boss, who attacks both RED and BLU teams until he is slain. The Horsemann, who is depicted as the undead apparition of Silas Mann, has a health range from 3000 to 9400, depending on the number of players in the server. The Horsemann does not spawn until ten or more players are present (not including spectators).

On October 20, 2011, a new Halloween-themed background was added to the game and made the default main menu background. In the same update, Halloween event-only hats from previous Halloween events were made wearable again. The Horseless Headless Horsemann was re-added to Mann Manor, as well as Halloween pumpkin drops and the Thriller taunt for all classes.
+
* Scream Fortress reintroduced the "Thriller" dance from Michael Jackson's Thriller as a taunt for all classes, originally introduced in the 2009 Haunted Hallowe'en Special. Taunting during the 2010 event would randomly chose between the standard weapon taunt and the Thriller taunt, even if no standard taunt existed for a weapon (for example, the Jarate or Wrangler). The taunt was turned off again at the conclusion of the event.

On October 21, 2011, a blog post on the TF2 Official Website confirmed the 'Third Annual Scream Fortress Halloween' update to be released sometime during the following week. The e-mail confirmed the introduction of gift drops, which were a feature of previous Halloween events that dropped special items for players on the specific event map Mann Manor. Lippincott stated that gift drops will only occur on servers that have registered with Steam, and that abusing or attempting to cheat the drop system will result in the removal of the server's registration.

This article is for content released in the update. For the patch itself, see October 27, 2010 Patch.
Also included in this update: You being scared! [sound of bat wings] That's right, it's the Second Annual Team Fortress Halloween Special. Will there be ghosts? Quite possibly. Will there be exploding pumpkins? You never know. Will you wet your pants in terror? If you're anything like us, emphatically yes.
TF2 Official Blog

The Scream Fortress Update, officially known as the Second Annu-Hell Scream Fortress Hauntdead Halloween Special, was the event launched with the October 27, 2010 Patch, which included the release of the two new Art Pass Contest-winning maps, new hats, new items, and new Ghostchievements as well as the reactivation of the 2009 Haunted Halloween Special's Scarechievements.

It was the 2010 equivalent of the 2009 Haunted Halloween Special, becoming the second Halloween event to be held within Team Fortress 2.

Additions

Horseless Headless Horsemann

Main article: Horseless Headless Horsemann

The Horseless Headless Horsemann is a non-playable character boss, who attacks both RED and BLU teams until he is slain. The Horsemann, who is depicted as the undead apparition of Silas Mann, has a health range from 3000 to 9400, depending on the number of players in the server. The Horsemann does not spawn until ten or more players are present (not including spectators).

Trivia

 • Scream Fortress reintroduced the "Thriller" dance from Template:W as a taunt for all classes, originally introduced in the 2009 Haunted Hallowe'en Special. Taunting during the 2010 event would randomly chose between the standard weapon taunt and the Thriller taunt, even if no standard taunt existed for a weapon (for example, the Jarate or Wrangler). The taunt was turned off again at the conclusion of the event.
