Find more than one?

Is there a way to find more than one of these? -Fooble 04:53, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't look like it. You can either craft the weapon or a haloween hat it seems. Moussekateer 05:08, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
You can only get one haunted metal, and only one of the three items (the axe and the two hats), unless you are given a gift wrapped haunted metal. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Andrewlrabbit (talk) • (contribs) 11:13, 3 September 2011

craftability

probably too soon to tell, but you think this will be craftable after the event is over? --Zootch 08:45, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

It should be able to since its got no other restrictions on it for halloween besides non tradeable (unless its gifted...) Gamecrazy009 22:04, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

availability

I have to ask the question : can we drop many of this item or just one ?--Baptiste 'BapNesS' Carlier 11:29, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Seemingly just one GeneShark 11:31, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
You can only get the Haunted Metal Scrap once. It is an item earned from doing achievements and you can only complete an achievement once. Tkj 02:28, 29 August 2011 (PDT)

Page Title

Haunted Metal Scrap needs to be deleted and this page needs to be moved to it. Unusual is the quality, not the item name. -- Lagg Backpack Stickybomb Launcher.png 10:53, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

I'd say it's part of the item name considering there seems to be no way to get regular Haunted Metal Scrap, but so long as this redirects to that page it doesn't make a difference GeneShark
Except it isn't part of the item name. There is no problem with creating a redirect page with the prefix in the title that redirects to the properly named page, we do that with most of the other items. The problem is that the redirect title should be the page title, not the other way around. We do not use the name prefix in any other non-redirect page title in the wiki. -- Lagg Backpack Stickybomb Launcher.png

Unusual Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker + 2 Refined Metal

How do we know this makes something? --Jordan 15:32, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Only Two Hats can be Crafted

It's been found by a number of test subjects that you will never get the Frankenstein hat or cleaver from crafting the unusual metal. You only get the two Valve made hats (Skull and Voodoo). The two community hats are nothing more than normal hats. They drop like normal hats and crafting two hats together can produce them. There's no difference between the Cleaver and the Brain Slug as far as item drops and crafting are concerned -- Balladofwindfishes 21:04, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

I haven't done it myself, but have read some sources that this can be done. Does anyone have definitive proof whether the Cadaver's Cranium and Horrific Headsplitter can indeed be crafted this way? WarZombie 18:11, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

I haven't found anything about crafting those two hats. I'd be kind of stupid to have a 50/50 chance of wasting your metal on a hat no different than any other hat. I know the Steam Forums would whine like no tommorow if one of them crafted a Headsplitter instead of the Voodoo hat, and I've personally seen a Headsplitter drop randomly, so they do drop like normal hats. Balladofwindfishes 13:52, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, you have a point, but I've seen more than one source that says this craft is possible, but again, I haven't tested this myself so I wouldn't know. As soon as I have the proper materials, I'll chime in with my results, but until then, all I can say is I don't know 100%. WarZombie 20:39, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

I've personally seen lots of the 4 refined + unusual metal crafts and they've always been jujus or skulls. In the game it seems there is a huge abundance of just those two hats so I would say they're either far more likely to be crafted or they're the only two that can be crafted. I'm leaning towards the latter, but obviously this is just my observation and I have no proof. Moussekateer 20:48, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Horsemann's Headtaker blueprint availability after Halloween event

Is there an official source that says that the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker can be crafted after the Halloween event? I know the page says so, but I want to know where that info came from/if it's truly reliable, so as not to accidentally miss the chance to get the Headtaker, and so that no one else will potentially miss their shot. Will-T 00:36, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

There's a couple emails from Robin floating around saying they will be active. ----Balladofwindfishes 12:11, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
I get the feeling they will be. Not everybody has 2+ Reclaimed Metals spare all the time. Part of the game's design is that casual and long term players will both benefit, and the casual player will need more time to get the metal needed. I'm GUESSING. It'd be be great to hear it from an official source though. Noizeblaze 22:10, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
I was told that they would be available after the event, but I'd have to dig up the post on the SomethingAwful forums. Suffice to say, they will be. Zoolooman 22:13, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
The metal doesn't have a Holiday Restriction on it.... TheGrayFox 15:58, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I personally crafted mine after the Halloween Event was over, so I know you can. --Freq. 02:21, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Everything crafted seems tradeable now

Apparently, according to Steam forums, the 2 hats and the axe are now tradeable. My axe is tradeable according to my backpack, but I haven't actually tested if it's tradeable. I'm holding off editing it in to the other articles, because I don't want test subjects believing it's tradeable if it's not, and the steam thread is a rumor. Here's the thread. Balladofwindfishes 00:16, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

I've run into the same scenario. Roughly two days after I crafted my Headtaker, it changed status to "clean" in both my in-game backpack and on tf2items.com. I'd say we make sure that this is confirmed with other test subjects, but it's safe to say that we can probably edit this information into the various pages. StarYoshi 22:55, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Since the November 10, 2010 Patch or thereabouts, Non-Tradable hats are no longer converting to Tradable (not after over a week, and not after the November 19, 2010 Patch). With the two most significant player theories busted, I'm really looking for some official confirmation from Valve as to the intended behavior, especially before I start crafting any more hats with this metal. Cadaver's Cranium and Horrific Headsplitter

Are they craftable with the haunted metal scrap? I need to clarify since some wiki pages say they are and other wiki pages say there're not. BLUH 04:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Popular thinking is no, they are not. Moussekateer 04:05, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
Has it been confirmed? BLUH 04:07, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
It's a difficult thing to confirm. I've seen 30 or so crafts and they've all been Jujus and Skulls. I don't know anyone who crafted the other two. I'm 99% sure it's only those two hats in my opinion but I can't prove it. Moussekateer 04:10, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
I think we might have to ask Robin. Then again, both of those hats can be bought from Mann-conomy store after Halloween. BLUH 04:27, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
What I do know for sure is the CC and HH can be randomly crafted, they're no different from the Hound Dog or Fedora. So despite their Halloween appearance I don't think they have anything to do with the unusual metal. Moussekateer 04:29, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
I am sure you can only craft Voodoo Juju or Spine-Chilling Skull with the Unusual Haunted Metal Scrap. Tkj 02:28, 29 August 2011 (PDT)

Tradability clarity

The main description states "The metal is not tradable, unless Gift Wrapped and then sent to another player." This seems to contradict the additional 'bugs' section which declares "Some Haunted Metal Scraps have become tradable due to a glitch involving the Gift Wrap."

Is this referring to the fact it is only possible to trade when in gift wrap, hence the 'glitch'? If so the 'some...' is unclear. Either way I think one of these statements needs changing. Mrshoe 10:08, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

After asking around I found 2 players that know of the tradable metal. And I was told that it was not from a glitch or a bugged gift-wrap. The first few test subjects to actually get the metal had them free and clear to trade. However most test subjects used it in craft. I will find out about this a clear up. Not Receiving the metal after killing HHH

Is it worth noting that some players that killed the HHH and received his head but did not receive the metal?--Sgt Black Raven 22:47, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

No, as you must land a killing blow with a melee weapon right before he dies and survive in order to get the metal. Whereas getting the head, you only have to land one attack from any weapon and stay alive until hes killed, which is much easier. Both articles on the achievements and the haunted metal mention this - Freq. 02:28, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Obtained on ctf_2fort_engi_power

Recently, I obtained the metal along with the achievement on an edit of 2fort, along with 3 other players. What could this mean? Jdcoolha 00:40, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Could you show us proof of this? Wintergreen 00:41, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
You can spawn the HHH on other maps with Sourcemod. Some even have a nav generated so he runs around the map. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 00:43, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
But still, Halloween Achievements won't work after the Halloween season, so how did he got it off season? Wintergreen 00:45, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
I got the achievement and the metal today, so evidently the achievements (or at least the Gored! and Sleepy HallOWNED ones) do work, at least under certain circumstances. I didn't start playing TF2 until mid-November, after the halloween event ended.Untelligent 18:26, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
the Halloween Achievements do work outside Halloween you just have to spawn in the bosses to get them (im not sure about the getting critzs from players deaths or exploding but i presume you can)--Iaindude 03:17, 18 September 2012 (PDT)

How to get?

Can anyone post a method on how to get this after halloween. I want it in TF2 Beta. I spawned him and melee'd but didn't receive it. --SandeProElite 17:55, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

if you used sv_cheats 1 to spawn him in it disables Achievements but if you find a tf2 beta Achievements server then you might be able to get it there (they would have source mod)--Iaindude 03:19, 18 September 2012 (PDT)

availability?

"The metal can still be obtained through spawning the Horsemann and getting the achievement, and the crafting blueprints in which it is used remains active."

How would one do this? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jabberwock xeno (talk) • (contribs) 03:35, 27 June 2011

Please remember to sign your posts with four tildes: ~~~~ .

I'm not sure how to spawn him (you'd need your own server for a start) but a few servers still have him spawning now and then as a gimmick. The only one I can think of off-hand is the RAWR Trade Server (it runs a map called trade_rawr where he spawns every 20 minutes). You could try going there. --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 04:08, 27 June 2011 (PDT)

So I should just pop in the server, kill the horseless headless horsman, than pop out? It's not a private server? Jabberwock xeno 16:00, 27 June 2011 (PDT)
Hello? Jabberwock xeno 15:15, 30 June 2011 (PDT)
For the record, you'd get a much quicker (and probably more accurate) response if you posted queries such as this on the forum - remember this page is really for discussing information for the article. In answer to your question, yes, most servers are public. --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 16:21, 3 July 2011 (PDT)

What happens if you use a Strange Skullcutter in the recipe?

What happens if you use a strange Skullcutter in the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker recipe? Do you get a Strange Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker with kill-tracking?
