Dota

As the DOTA 2 items are promotional should they also be listed on this page? Casperr 17:27, 17 January 2012 (PST)

Will add this later in the main section following irc discussion. Promotional items (and event items) are not explicitly marked as uncraftable, however, unlike regular hats they do not yeild headgear when combined. '''''UltimateTerabyte''''' 11:34, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Should the whole Vintage Lugermorph business be added in the notes of the Sam & Max Lugermorph? If so, here's a sentence that could be added: "These Lugermorphs became Vintage when the Poker Night at the Inventory items were added to the game in the November 19, 2010 Patch" Nizar 07:57, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

It's already mentioned on the lugermorph article. Moussekateer 08:01, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Limited Items

Should they also end up here? Or is this strictly for the promotional items. Examples being the Cheater's Lament and golden wrench. For that matter, is the golden wrench technically limited or promotional, or both? -= M-NINJA Burger Gib.png =- 03:15, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Promotional means just that. Not limited. That's something to keep in mind, though. -- En Ex (talk) 03:18, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Limited in the sense you mean, I mean. -- En Ex (talk) 03:21, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

New Column?

Now that there are so many promotional items with varying states of obtainability, should we consider adding another column to each table row which indicates whether or not a particular item is still obtainable? Example values would be "No", "Craft (Non-Genuine only)", "Purchase (Non-Genuine only)", "Achievement", etc. Noibn 14:53, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Japan Charity Items

I've already tried to discuss this on the talk:Magnanimous Monarch page, but no-one's really given me any feedback. I think it takes some of the meaning out of the Japan Charity Bundle items being charitable if they are listed as being "promotional" - this associates them with marketing and advertising, which isn't the point of them at all. I suggest making a new section for Charity items, seeing as there are enough of them to merit a new section. Does anyone else support this? If not, then at the very least the description on the Promotional items page should be altered to accommodate charity items as well. Cooper Kid 18:37, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

maybe if there was ever another "charity item" it'd warrant it HyenaDip 22:23, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
There are 5 of them - I think that's enough to warrant a new page. Cooper Kid 11:31, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I support a second page as well, even if we never get any additional charity items. It just seems like bad form to mix and mingle "charity" with "promotion". Noibn 14:56, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Steam Game Gifts

I found something very interesting a short while ago. I had purchased a 4 Pack of Monday Night Combat back during the promotional period. One of the guys in on the split bailed so I was stuck with an extra copy. I found that when I gifted it to another player through Steam, the user still got the promotional items, even though the promotion had long since ended! Nam-Ereh-Won 20:22, 3 July 2011 (PDT)

Order

This may be a mistake on my part, but is there any kind of chronological or otherwise order on this page? I say this because to me, the weapons, hats, and misc. items listed here were just dropped here. --Protroid 13:16, 23 August 2011 (PDT)

The promoted games are listed alphabetically, with the exception of Other and Cut promotional items. -- Killicon train.png Hefaistus - talk 13:25, 23 August 2011 (PDT)
Oh, thank you. --Protroid 16:13, 23 August 2011 (PDT)
Is there any way to set this page up so you can choose alphabetical or release date instead of just one or the other? Mattwo 14:04, 16 November 2011 (PST)

See also

Do we really need the "See also" links to Wikipedia when there are pages to those games right on the wiki with links to Wikipedia already? Rolandius 06:46, 11 October 2011 (PDT)

Are you simply suggesting the links are changed so they go to the TF2 Wiki pages instead of Wikipedia? If so then I Pictogram plus.png Support. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:09, 11 October 2011 (PDT)
Pretty much. Making the section names the "links" would be the easiest way. Rolandius 19:21, 11 October 2011 (PDT)
I've always thought that section headings shouldn't be linked, but replacing the current See Also bit with Wiki links would be fine. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 15:15, 12 October 2011 (PDT)

Template

I saw that some tables of other languages are outdated, maybe, with a template, can we solve this problem. I made this, I have only edited the alien swarm for a preview. Dio ★ | talk 12:55, 11 November 2011 (PST)

The "Other" Section.

The items showed in the other section are pretty wrong, neither of the Seal mask or the Manniversarry Hat was given. It was the cauldron/gift, in-fact the Manniversarry hat is drop able unlike the gift which is not.

I thought I'll better get an +support from some people before doing something, also I added the Dota 2 Items, valve will probably will use them again for a promotion item for Dota 2 itself but for now it's only for the Dota 2 International players. Atlas 12:56, 20 November 2011 (PST)

The International Players didn't got the Dota 2 hats. The rumour that they did is unfounded and false. -- Killicon train.png Hefaistus - talk 13:21, 20 November 2011 (PST)

Not to mention Earbuds haven't been active for around 2 years. And if the Pyrovision Goggles are promotional items, then so is the Ghastly Gibus. Frying Pan and Ellis' Cap need to be moved to active as well. Kinne 23:15, 13 November 2012 (PST)

We may want to rethink what goes on the list of promo items. Obviously everyone here is getting rather confused. If promo items are exclusive items (other than crafting, talking genuine and one time only items in specific quality) then why do we have things that honestly don't belong. Cauldron: Still obtainable if you play a tf2 Halloween event for the first time. Birthday Noisemaker: Still obtainable when it becomes tf2's Birthday. Mann co hat: Why is this even on the list? World Travel: Why... Secret Saxton: Same as above.

Notice how there are some items that don't belong on the this. If we are going to list "Limited" Items why not make a separate list for it? This way It's less confusing. Ashes 00:58, 14 November 2012 (PST)

Dota

As the DOTA 2 items are promotional should they also be listed on this page? Casperr 17:27, 17 January 2012 (PST)

As they are not officially released it's pointless to do so, also we don't want to post false information.Atlas 18:32, 24 April 2012 (PST)

Renaming Others to In-Game Promotions.

Well others are really things that are built in to the game by doing so and so. should we rename it? Atlas 10:31, 24 April 2012 (PDT)

Super MNC

The Triclops and The Flamingo Kid are the wrong way round. Taser9001 04:00, 25 May 2012 (PDT)

new promo

i heard talk about a new promo...i dont know the name. Anybody know what im talking about or have any info on these promo's? TubbyMonster 16:38, 21 July 2012 (PDT)

Help me please

I have no idea how to add a game to the list or anything like that, so I'm just gonna tell you.

We need to add the Company of Heroes 2 items. Such as the German and Soviet peaked caps and the medals. The preceding unsigned comment was added by ErnieTheGreatest (talk) • (contribs)

Mysterious Promo Nav?

Would prove to be so helpful! Would show name and date released. Scoot-teh-Destroyer 08:44, 2 November 2012 (PDT)

Missing Promotional Items; Promos that HAVEN'T ended

I've noticed that the Dr. Grordbort's Crest is now being considered a promotional item, but it only lists the one for the Soldier pack. If we're considering that a promo item, shouldn't we be considering the two crests from the Pyro/Engie packs too?

Another issue I see is that the Red Orchestra 2 items are being marked as 'expired'. This is incorrect, because if you buy the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, you are STILL awarded those two hats in Genuine forms. My brother did this just a few months ago when the game was on sale.

Categories & Differences between promotional and distributed Items

I would like to make some recommendations about the "Promotional Items" page.

First and foremost, I think that if this page included a categorization of promotional items, not only it would be easier for the editors to include items based on better criteria, but it would also be a more specific and reliable source of information about them.

The categories created should be the following:

  • Promotional items obtainable via pre-purchasing: Items that are awarded to those who pre-purchase a Steam game and most of which have the Genuine Quality.
  • Promotional items obtainable via purchasing a game
  • Promotional items obtainable via purchasing items: Items that are awarded to those who purchase items either in the in-game store, the Valve Store or the Team Fortress 2 site.
  • Promotional items obtainable via obtaining achievements: Items that are awarded by unlocking an achievement in other games in Steam, which are either free-to-play or purchasable.
  • Promotional items obtainable via redeeming codes

After that, my second idea arises: items that are characterized as "Distributed" (Professor Speks, Party Hat, Noise Maker - TF Birthday, Halloween Goodie Cauldron, Halloween Goodie Cauldron, Spirit Of Giving, Secret Saxton, Mann Co. Store Package, Steam Translation Package and Pyrovision Goggles) will be removed as they should belong to a new "Distributed Items" page, where a full catalog of distributed items would be included.

JohnnyTK 06:07, 9 January 2013 (PST)

Pictogram plus.png Support distinguishing items that are distributed and items that are truly for promotional purposes. This would also apply to the Japanese charity hats - I was never happy with them being labelled as promotional in the first place. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 10:58, 9 January 2013 (PST)

Red Orchestra 2 Promos

It says that the Red Orchestra 2 Steam Digital Deluxe Edition promos ended in 2011 now. I know that that's definitely not the case, since I bought it within the last couple of months because of this page saying they were available still, and I got them.Ullallulloo 14:00, 30 April 2013 (PDT)

Heart of Gold

The Heart of Gold should go on the list, under "Other". I really need to learn how to edit those lists.

Total War Rome II Promos no longer active

I just bought the game two days ago and did not receive the promos. So, unless there is another way to obtain them, they should be put to inactive/expired. Many thanks - Chris The preceding unsigned comment was added by HippiePeaceLove (talk) • (contribs)

Tomb raider twmp of osiris promo

Yo, where the hell are the Tomb Raider Temple of Osiris promos in this list? I would do it myself, but im new here somI dont know how to add images. EDIT: Never mind, found it. The preceding unsigned comment was added by ScottishDrunkard (talk) • (contribs)

Faerie Solitaire

The section for Faerie Solitaire suggests the Genuine Faerie Solitaire Pin is awarded by purchasing Faerie Solitaire prior to December 13, 2012. However I purchased Faerie Solitaire today and received it. This may have something to do with the fact that the game is on sale this week, though that is purely speculation. Torvuseremita (talk) 16:08, 11 March 2015 (PDT)

Disgaea Promo

Someone should add the Disgaea PC prinny promo items that you get if you buy it during the sale. Ranocai (talk) 10:02, 30 June 2016 (PDT)

Mann Co. Store

I think, that Mann Co. Store won't be available. Title into site "The store is currently closed. Please try back in a few minutes." appeared more than year ago. Maybe, "Mann Co. Online Cap" and "Mann Co. Store Package" need to remove from active promo items? Герамтур (talk) 06:59, 26 November 2016 (PST)

I guess you're talking about this page. The Mann Co. Store Package is also obtainable through purchase in the in-game store, so no problem with this one. For the Mann Co. Online Cap, you're right that the store page seems to be dead for ages. Nonetheless you can buy via a direct API link like this, which still awards you the cap if I'm not mistaken. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 07:08, 26 November 2016 (PST)
Huh, yea, I understand. So, I think, for cap and package will be needed to change notes, where need to delete information about dead store. And also write method with API for cap and about ingame method for package. Because, when I first read about cap, I thought, that it available only in Mann Co. Store, which don't work. So it need to change, for avoid mislead. Герамтур (talk) 09:47, 26 November 2016 (PST)
Ok, I deleted broken link, but I can't to find guide or article from Valve or tf2wiki about buying through API. If someone will find it, please, add it to Online Cap's note. Герамтур (talk) 17:27, 26 November 2016 (PST)

Some Hero Academy item no longer available

All DLC for Hero Academy was removed form the Steam store after the launch of Hero Academy 2(even though it wasn't on Steam) therefore the Void Monk Hair, Tribal Bones, and Grenadier Helm are no longer obtainable outside of the Mann Co. store, however the DLC are awarded for the Mann Co. purchases, so it is still possible to obtain the DLC via purchasing the cosmetics on the Mann Co. store.

Shouldn't some stuff be moved to "Expired"

I feel that Archimedes, Spycrab and NECA Action Figures should be moved to expired because The Spycrab Plush is sold out and Archimedes Plush has been removed from the store and The NECA Action Figures were all removed from the Store exept the soldier action figure which was sold out. So yeah can we move Archimedes, Spycrab Plushie and The NECA Action Figures tab to the expired section?

GOBBYGOBBY (talk) 02:25, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Some would make sense, but I believe the spycrabs are going to be restocked soon. They might stay a while.

Idea for a new Promotional Item

So, there's this cool game on Steam, it's called Factorio, and it involves guns. I thought maybe we could make some cosmetics and weapons from that game? The preceding unsigned comment was added by AlphaWalker (talk) • (contribs)

Not how that works. It's up to the game dev to design the items iirc. And this topic isn't what the wiki is for either. 404UNF (talk) 00:19, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
