Backpack image

Already uploaded at File:Backpack Saxxy.png - Devozade 22:34, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Adding the image of the Spy from the blog until a more appropriate image can be produced. Mander 22:43, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Spy Weapon

Is it possible to backstab someone with this? Grug 22:45, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Doesn't look like it.just because the spy is holding it doesn't mean its for him. THE3STOOGES 22:46, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
It's an all class melee weapon. According to facepunch everyone but Soldier, Demoman and Scout got new melee animations. Balladofwindfishes 22:47, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
So wait you can beat your wife with a trophy now? On a more Serious note, how do we reference Meet the Sniper? Nutter 23:35, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
You want to beat your wife now Nutter lol um. don't put in references till we know for sure. THE3STOOGES 23:36, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Possible secondary attributes to the Saxxy Award Weapon

I think the Saxxy award needs to have some other attributes other than just being another Golden Wrench

Here are some Ideas:

1. Scout: Standard Bat Replacement

Secondary: Scout presents it as if it were the "Slap Chop" (Taunt)

2. Soldier: Shovel Replacement

Secondary: Soldier bites the head off as if it were a grenade, and it explodes (Kill Taunt)

3. Pyro: Axe Replacement

Secondary: Pyro plays with it as if it were an airplane or as if it were a Ken Doll.

4. Demoman: Bottle Replacement

Secondary: Demoman unscrews the head and drinks from it as if it was a flask.

5. Engineer: Wrench Replacement

Secondary: Engineer places it ontop of a Sentry or Dispenser (Essentially, A Building Hat)

6. Heavy: Sandwitch Replacement

Primary or Secondary: Heavy eats the award as if it was made of chocolate (Heal Taunt)

7. Medic: Saw Replacement

Secondary: Uses it to test his knee Reflexes (Kill Taunt)

8. Sniper: Kuri Replacement

Secondary: Holds it in one hand and flicks the head with his finger and says "Boom Headshot".

9. Spy: Knife Replacement (Works just like the knife, but with new backstab animation. Uses it just like those small flexable weighted clubs you use to knock someone out by hitting them in the back of the head)

Secondary: Spy tries to disguise himself as SAXTON HALE but only lasts a taunt duration.

The wiki isn't the place for ideas and suggestions. Take it to the SPUF. Mikau 00:15, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

View models

I need to see the view models for the heavy.--Waffleman 00:11, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

I can get screenshots of every viewmodel when I get home in about 6 hours if you want, since I own one. Any preference of viewmodel_fov, map, etc? Darthz01 20:10, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Composition

"While the First Annual Saxxy Awards promotional video reveals that the Saxxy is made of 75% Australium, the blog post promoting the announcement of the contest winners refers to it as a "handsome 100% Australium-plated Saxton Hale statuette", adding further vagueness to its actual composition."

Isn't that extra 25% likely to mean the stand, which is probably wood or metal? --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 01:41, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

No, the 25% is gold. You did watch the Replay Update trailer, right? maggosh 01:42, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
75% overall, total of the statue. A small percentage of that (probably 10-15%) was used to completely plate it. I theorize it is 100% Australium on the outside, then a layer of some heavy metal, followed by a nuggety Australium center. SilverHammer 01:46, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
The important thing is that the second statement says it's 100% Australium-plated, so they aren't really contradicting one another. --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 01:48, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

I put those facts up at the top where it seemed more fitting. I took out the implication that they were contradictory. Don't know how to in-article cite or if it's needed at all. Minwu 03:05, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Related achievements

I think the related achievements should go away. There are no achievements particular to the Saxxy and they are cluttering the page. Perhaps a bit in the Trivia section or whatever that says melee achievements can also be earned with the Saxxy. --Drunken F00l 03:31, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

  • Pictogram tick.png Yes Its just seems like we are using too much space. If there was an achievement directly attached to this weapon specifically, then that would be much different. But this is not the case. I think that either Drunken F00l's suggestion or having the achievements in a collapsible table would suffice. User M-NINJA Signature.png 03:37, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Pictogram tick.png Yes I agree, remove the related achievements. By the way, I was right when I predicted that the Saxxy was going to be a weapon. Boo-yah. 404 User Not Found 04:51, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Pictogram nope.png Nope.avi A collapsible table might be needed, but outright removal is out of the question for reasons of consistency within the wiki.--Focusknock 04:57, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Pictogram cross.png No It's really rare to find achievements particular to any unlock. Only a few milestone unlocks have any. A collapsible table would be good. In general I'd say the term "related achievements" is better fitting for class pages and the section title for weapon pages should be something that connotes "achievements this item can get you." Minwu 01:45, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
  • Pictogram cross.png No I agree with the above two. Don't remove it. I don't think the clutter is that bad (It's an all-class weapon, what do you expect?) but I agree with the notion of making it collapsible. - TommoPuppy 07:28, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Custom viewmodels not implemented?

I'm no expert on first person viewmodels and the like, but there are proper models for the classes holding the Saxxy in the game files as well as unique sounds, as this video shows [[1]]. Obviously the item is brand new so we don't have good quality images of it in 1st person view yet, but the trivia section mention severe animation and clipping issues with the Heavy and the weapon using default item sounds, so I think this should be put into the bug section, or at least given a mention in the trivia--1000 ninjas 09:43, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

items_game.txt

I tried editing it to give me the weapon offline by editing items_game.txt but it only gave the attributes and description to the weapon I tried to replace. Valve patched so you can't do it? --SandeProElite 12:10, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Use itemtest - TommoPuppy 07:20, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Buff Banner bug

I edited that part about the buff banner, I can happen even if you dont own a saxxy. If you touch the Supply Locker as a Soldier with any backpack out, it will appear on any class until the map changes. Guil13st 12:56, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Now I also edited the part about the random crits as spy, I did some testing and you CANT do random crits as spy. Guil13st 02:21, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Show the new animations for this weapon on this page?

As we all know; Medic, Spy, Heavy, Pyro and maybe Engineer got new animations just for this weapon. It's going to take a while until another weapon that uses these animations is added to the game, so I though: How about adding videos, or GIFs on this page to see the animations in action. No, I don't mean the usual weapon demonstration. More like an Animation Demonstration. --GameManXD 06:27, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

If it becomes a thing, I'd be happy to make the video for it.Darthz01 06:52, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
This is the reason we have the weapon demonstration project after all - TommoPuppy 07:29, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Is this really a bug?

"Deaths caused by the Fencing taunt and backstab use their default kill icon."

This seems more like a conscious choice by Valve for game balance, mainly for backstabs. Any opinions? FlotsamX 21:56, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

It really amazes me the insane reasons people come up with for why things aren't bugs. Game balance? Seriously? How?--Focusknock 22:21, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
People who follow the kill feed are usually aware of Spies via the backstab kill icon. If this icon was the Saxxy icon instead, then it would be more difficult to determine if a Spy is about. FlotsamX 22:24, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Note that the bug entry is not contesting that the kill icon should be a regular Saxxy and thus upset the supposed game balance. It is merely noting that the kill icon is not something more appropriate (such as a Saxxy backstabbing the figure). It seems illogical therefore to remove it under the pretense that 'valve intended it'.--Focusknock 22:33, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm not suggesting it should be immediately removed, I'm just bringing up that it might not be a bug. I suppose neither side is right or wrong until Valve chimes in, or changes something.
(PS, backstabbing someone with a trophy sounds like a hilarious idea for a kill icon, someone needs to get on this) FlotsamX 22:39, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

The fact that the Kunai and YER knives do not have unique Backstab icons leads me to believe this isn't a bug. Minwu 01:40, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

I would counter this by saying that the Kunai and YER are still fundamentally knifes. Indeed, the kill icon for the backstab features a steak knife. As such I would have to agree, had this been on the Kunai or YER page, it would not be a bug. The Saxxy however, is not a knife in any sense. It is therefore so different that it must be mentioned as a bug.--Focusknock 01:45, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
The thing with the fencing taunt versus the backstab is the backstab is a generic knife that could just be a symbol for backstabbing, while the fencing taunt uses the specific butterfly knife as its icon. Balladofwindfishes 01:57, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
You guys are so pathetic for thinking this is a bug. It's not... Those are the icons for the actions of backstab and fencing, regardless of weapon used. - TommoPuppy 07:28, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
