knockback or knock back?

This is pretty petty, but in the Force-A-Nature's notes it says 'knockback'. Shouldn't that be knock back, or even Knock back? Are knockback and knock back interchangeable? Atty 13:05, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Team Photo Trivia

The Scout's pose in the Team Photo is very similar to his Home Run taunt. Currently, the Scout is the only class to have a Taunt resembling his Team Photo pose. Danton 02:20, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Administrator comic

The BLU Scout did in fact die as revieled in the Adminstrator comic during the war update (second page) in the screen on the bottem left.Yoshisonic 10:12 10/14/10

Considering the number of characters who have died in the "Meet the Team" videos, the various comics and the game itself, this probably isn't the best indicator... Kane.malakos 07:23, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Even though this relates to the BLU soldier (right?). In meet the spy the Soldier (along with the Heavy) were backstabbed multiple times and the Soldier was still able to wage war and the heavy was able to listen to some Earbuds in the mac update. Gamecrazy009 01:16, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

Much like Kenny in South Park, all Meet the Team characters come back to life in time for the next video (or are replaced). Otherwise, the Soldier, Heavy, Medic, and many others would not be in any videos. Ryftt 00:54, 14 August 2011 (PDT)

It says in Poker Night that the Heavy is blissfully unaware of respawning - he thinks they are bad dreams. I know that's not canon, but still. Also remember that at the end of Meet the Medic there are about 30 BLU Soldiers. You shouldn't assume that there are only one of each class. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 09:11, 14 August 2011 (PDT)

New York

I personally asked some people who have been to New York and Boston, as well as a couple of Bostonians. Not a single one of them said he was from Boston based on his accent, and all of them said New York.

Someone pointed out that all the classes accents are faked based on stereotypes. Well, someone got their stereotypes mixed up, and now we have a Bostonian with a New York accent.

SalaComMander 02:52, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

I think the Bios are non-cannon to be honest. They were written before the game was out (and looked allot more like a comic book) Allot of them do not match up with the character's in game. Z Overlord 07:12, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

And this is not trivia-worthy? Need I define "trivia"? SalaComMander 08:02, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

I would agree that the Bios might not be Cannon, but there are several references to him being from Boston, most notable the achievement the year to remember which it the the year that the Boston Red Sox one the world series. Another being his you of the term "frickin" which is used by Bostonian and could be a way of chaining the truly Bostonian term "wicked" to be more understanding to people outside of New England. The finale reference that I can think of off the top of my head would be in his "meet the..." video his accent is nasally which I would say is more Bostonian then a New York accent.Schrodingerscat 03:52, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Irrelevent, irrelevent, and not entirely true. The references to him being from Boston are not the point. He is from Boston, Valve said so, and what they say goes. The problem here is the fact that his accent is that of a New Yorker, not a Bostonian. SalaComMander 06:40, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

New strategy?

Should I add a new strategy to the strategy section?

  • Using your melee weapon you can hit enemies quickly and avoid fire with your speed.

Or is it obsolete for the time being because melee isn't as useful?

--Boregano 23:44, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Using melee is about as useful as any other class, since his damage per hit and low health compensate for the speed. Ryftt 00:58, 14 August 2011 (PDT)

Sandman Ammo

Currently, an infinity sign is listed as the "ammo carried" (for the ball). Since the only number for the actual ammo sign is 1 or 0, should it be listed as one? Also, since its not technically ammo, should it just say N/A as well?

No, all the weapons are automatic, hold the trigger down and they will keep firing until all the ammo in the weapon is used up, then depending on the reload (if there is one), the user reloads and continues to fire. Smissmas Story, scouts name?

In the new smissmass story comic, the blu soldier refers to scout as "Judas", possibly his name? I thought it might just be a "joke" or an insult in refrence to Judas from the 12 apostles, who in similar manner to scout betrays his "friends", so I've yet to add it. EvilHolyGuy 20:37, 15 December 2011 (PST)

He (Scout) is just ejecting a spent shell. Unless he is carrying all 32 rounds in the container, how is this considered reloading? GeneStealer 19:40, 12 July 2012 (PDT)

In the same way that the Sticky Launcher's reload animation doesn't show any new ammunition being added to the weapon, it's considered reloading as it's when the ammo counter at the bottom-right is increased. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 01:55, 13 July 2012 (PDT)

The stickybomb launcher and the scattergun just confuse me. If you look at the ammo counter, you can see that, for the scattergun, you can fire 5.33 whole clips of ammo (i have to thank my computer calculator). How does that gun even hold that much ammo? Same with the stickybomb launcher. Also, in a DB shotgun, you have to remove the bullet shell before you can load in the next bullet. But the scout can load 6 bullets into his DB shotgun without having to remove the shells. He only removes the shells when reloading. ZombieNubMaster (talk) 17:21, 30 January 2014 (PST)

Scout's abilities in MvM

My infos about the innate abilities in MvM were removed because deemed as "strategies". The bit was:

In Mann vs. Machine matches he additionally has a larger money collect range, gains health from said pickups and, upon death, respawns instantly.

I think they fit the article since they refer to the class' abilities, not unlike the double capture rate. Not how one should use them.Kid Of The Century 01:25, 21 August 2012 (PDT)

I think that this all happens because he has a cup of caffeine everyday. seriously, how is scout the weakest and yet still the fastest at doing everything? Well, i think there was one more thing in MvM for scout, is that when you upgrade his speed, it goes up to like, 170%, and stacked with the baby faces blaster, it's almost like he has a charge'n'targe. From the Track Terrorizer description: "...He was kicked off the team after three days when everyone realized he was 23-years-old and also not enrolled in the school." We've had many speculations on this, however we're assuming its not as its not really valid proof as of now. It needs to be solid evidence, not speculation. any aspect of the game is "obvious" if you go into the game and test it yourself. the point of an encyclopedia is to be a source of knowledge /without/ having to test something yourself. the fact that it is based on his the weapon used is a good reason, but it should still be mentioned that a stock scout swings faster. also which weapons slow him down? i didnt know there were any. Illiterate?

Why does the trivia say Scout can't read? He is seen reading in the comics (In the jail cell) and he has proven that he can write in some capacity (Writing "blah blah blah" and "BANG" on his picture of the spy in the ED short is the first thing that comes to mind). The only time he can't is when he has just been hit on the head with a giant heavy box falling from plane height. Don't you think this could just be a joke rather than an actual problem the Scout has? Vibri (talk) 06:14, 10 March 2017 (PST)

Ok, but what about [1] [2] [3] these which all show him reading full books in the ED short which is made by Valve and not a third party. Also considering that teufort is a town populated entirely by people with brain damage its quite possible that Young Readers were the only thing available.Vibri (talk) 05:44, 12 March 2017 (PDT)

The first image was a book on pickup lines. Second was Dating [Something] Girls, and it also shows a tiny bit of the book's content, which looks like 3 bullet points followed by a diagram. Regardless of the content of the books he is still quite confidently reading them and he has a pencil which implies he is taking notes and understands what he is reading. I think basing a characters ability to read on an interaction where they have been hit on the head, are quite possibly trying to read upside down judging from the crate and is in a comic made by a third party is a mistake.Vibri (talk) 12:27, 12 March 2017 (PDT)
First of all, make sure to write colons before your response to indent it. Second of all, he must've been hit pretty hard to not know to at least read right-side-up. The comic wasn't third party, either, it was made by Valve too. Also, "quite confidently reading them" and "taking notes and understands" can not be completely assumed from the comic. We see him looking at the open book in deep thought, but we can't be sure if he's struggling to read or if he's even reading it right. ⇒Leaderboard class spy.png Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 13:12, 12 March 2017 (PDT)
Well yeah, he was hit with a box of machine guns falling from plane height. That's being hit pretty hard. Also the comic is made by a third party but is hosted by Valve.Vibri (talk) 15:40, 12 March 2017 (PDT)
The box did have a parachute on it, and he only showed mild initial pain/shock from the collision but otherwise didn't seem to be affected at all.
Also, there really isn't much difference between being hosted and being by Valve, otherwise we'd have to delete so much speculation on the Wiki that's based off of the comics. ⇒Leaderboard class spy.png Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 17:05, 12 March 2017 (PDT)
From what I have seen, the update comics/movies take place in a "different universe" because they don't follow the comic lore. Also, given the fact that he can't pronounce "machine", and since he is known to "read" books, we can say that he knows how to read at the least a little bit. That is why I put down "basic elementary knowledge of reading". User Twolfe Signature.png || twolfe's page || twolfe's talk page 04:26, 13 March 2017 (PDT)

Dog Tag

Dog Tag The Dog Tag saw in Scout's Neck. There is nothing but probably in there Scout's name, adress and number written (probably). If you want to buy it you can buy it from Valve Store for 12 dollars. ByHiOne (talk) 16:55, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

No text on it. MIKADO282 oOOOOo oo oo 23:42, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Nathan Vetterlein

Nathan Vetterlein regularly plays in Team Fortress 2 and stream on Twitch as Chili Of Destiny. Can anyone add this information to "Trivia"? PtokoPies (talk) 21:07, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Is it really needed to add his twitch platform? i think his Youtube is more sufficent. User MrJohnson Signature.png MrJohnson (talk) 21:12, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Shouldn't we add that Spy is (heavily implied to be) his dad?

I think the fact that Spy admits to being Scout's dad is significant enough to put on his wiki entry. Jay Pinkerton confirmed that was his intention, and even if you don't believe Spy, I think him saying that he is is worth being included. Gee (talk) 02:27, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

I honestly think it could be in trivia, but thats about it. User MrJohnson Signature.png MrJohnson (talk) 06:15, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Not so much. What Jay has said is one thing. What has been published is another thing. Whatever is eventually published may well be a third thing. A statement of Jay's intention is Trivia. The ambiguity that has been published is Storyline rather than Trivia ( notwithstanding that actual Storyline content has been put under Trivia occasionally). Any future unambiguous statement of parentage in the media could belong under Bio. What has been published is ambiguous -- a reasonable discussion could be found under Storyline#The Scout's parentage. Incorrect listings for Rate of Fire on Pistols

Stock Listed as 6 r/s, winger as 5 r/s despite no reference to lesser RoF, PBPP as 4.7 r/s which is incorrect as it should be higher than stock if the firing speed is indeed increased.

Jerma Trivia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSLf7uuMFuA At around 44min, Tyler confirms that the Scout was named after Jerma985. Should we add this somewhere? Bracker (talk) 20:56, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

Unless a Valve employee confirms it, no. — Tark lm(pt-br) 22:03, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

Tom Jones Tattoo Trivia

It's clearly not a hallucination since the spy can see it and comment on how it's mispeled The preceding unsigned comment was added by ElPato (talk) • (contribs) 10:16 CEST, 7 April 2021

The entire bit could have been a hallucination, Spy did disguise as Tom Jones but who knows if he actually said all that stuff and it wasn't just Scout adding stuff himself too.

Under Trivia, Scout's Name Origin

According to Tyler McVicker, Scout was named Jeremy after the popular TF2 Youtuber and now Twitch streamer, Jerma985. source: https://youtu.be/Sote3aIwKJ0 Jjj8 (talk) 13:26, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

Tyler McVicker, unless he directly shows/mentions his source, is not a Valve source therefore is not trustworthy enough.
