Team Fortress Wiki, formerly and founded as TF2 Wiki, was created by Nos in October 2007. Its goal is to provide Team Fortress 2 players with information that they will find useful to further their understanding of the game.

In June 2010, the Wiki and its content was moved to a new server hosted by Valve, and became the official Team Fortress Wiki, covering everything related to Team Fortress 2 and its older siblings, Team Fortress Classic and Quake Team Fortress.

What is a Wiki?

See Wikipedia's article on what a "Template:W" is.

A wiki is a collection of web pages designed to enable anyone who accesses it to contribute or modify content, using a simplified markup language. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites. For example, the collaborative encyclopedia Wikipedia is one of the best-known Wikis.

How to get started and where to find things

  • Those links on the left under "Navigation" are the way to find your way around.
  • First check out the Main Page, it tells you what's new and has useful links.
  • Try the search box! It is quite useful, though you can always search within the Wiki using Google.
  • If you are bored you can always check out a random page!

How to edit

This is a Wiki: a cooperative and informative website that anyone can edit to make it better.

To edit a page you have to first sign in, or if you haven't created an account yet, create one.

The Team Fortress Wiki, like Wikipedia, utilizes the wiki markup to format a page. For example: Entering any text between two equal signs creates a title. Wikipedia has a cheat sheet designed to help newcomers. You should also check out the tutorial for the very basics.

We also have a manual of style which you should follow, this gives guidelines on the way you should format pages.

Trivia

  • The Team Fortress Wiki became an official Valve wiki on June 30, 2010, as part of the unofficial Valve Wiki Network. Source: TF2 Official Blog- Listen!
  • Entering the Konami Code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, enter) on your keyboard anywhere on the Wiki will trigger an Easter egg where a BLU Spy saps the wiki logo at the top of the sidebar to the left.
  • From June 30th, 2011 - July 3rd, 2011, the site [1] created a fake update for the Team Fortress Wiki community. It involved a downloadable hat for all 9 classes as well as a downloadable drink for the Scout and a comic of Meet The Spy edited to be about Hackers. It also mentioned the infamous Wiki Cap.
