Weapon capitalisation

For the sake of correctness, I vote that I be allowed to capitalise the names of in-game items which are incorrectly lower case. For example, the Scotsman's Skullcutter, the Pain Train and the Direct Hit (though pretty much every name is hit by it) Doing this would make them better match the in-game names. NeoDement 20:34, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

No. We've done the capitailzation to keep the wiki style. It doesn't really matter. -- Smashman... (ts) 14:15, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Following a consultation with everyone, this policy has changed. The style guide has been updated to reflect this. -- Pilk (talk) 10:38, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Valve Wiki Network Images

The images should link to the sites themselves rather than simply to the image, makes it easier to get to them. Also the Team Fortress 2 Wiki image should not have any link at all. --Firestorm 23:09, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes, yes and yep. Easy to do. It's saved at Template:VWN make sure the Team Fortress Wiki text is bolded though. Smashman 23:13, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Shortened Name?

I think when referencing the Wiki's name we should call it OTF Wiki or TF Wiki, as the entire name can be quite cumbersome. I am also lead to believe there's a shortened name property in the MediaWiki settings, but I may be wrong. Any suggestions? Smashman 23:20, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm just a member who registered like 5 minutes ago, but I think the best shortened name would be TF Wiki or even TFW... Blue Kleiner 00:44, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
That's fine. New members are welcome and their opinions too. I think TF Wiki would be good. We're combining the Team Fortress Wiki about TFC as well, that's good. -- Smashman... (ts) 00:47, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

This wiki rising on Google.

If you google "TF2 Wiki", this wiki is now 6th on the list. We're doing well guys. Give it a month, I think we're going to manage it. -- Smashman... (ts) 14:02, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Interesting, if you google TF2Wiki (no space), we're 4th. - Firestorm 02:11, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

2 Misc Slots

I dont know if anyone noticed, but since the Engineer update came off, there as been another misc slot called "misc 2" to all classes. And yes, there is no item to use it with (at least that i own). I tried to equip medal+ earbuds but there wasn't any item. I wonder if this has something to do with the Polycount Pack contest.

New template to help new players

I made a new template I think would help quite a bit if it was placed at the top of some of the Class articles.

Template:ClassStrategy Tip

Basically it just gives a few helpful links straight away, it's not really meant to replace the navbox with all the class articles at the bottom. I'm thinking a few other links could be added as well? What does everyone think? Seb26 05:38, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

We are an encyclopaedia -- not a newbie guide. We do cater to newbies though, and as you said those links can be found at the bottom of the page. -- Pilk (talk) 06:18, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

German voice files

Is it possible to upload the German voice files? I dont know if EA or Valve has the copyright for them. Picard 10:29, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes I'll do them all tomorrow. Can you do without for now? I'll use my bot to upload them all. Perhaps you could ask Pilk? He'd likely be able to do it today. -- Smashman... (ts) 11:01, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

TFC Wiki Merge

I understand from a message in the TFC Wiki that it is going to merge with this website soon. As a TFC player, I would love to add in some information about the game, as well as help out in any integration concerns. When will we have the greenlight to start carrying over information or to begin editing/adding pages to account for TFC? - DysprosiumJudas 05:16, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Polycount weapons

Speaking of weapons, the winners of the polycount update have been announced, the new weapons are listed and visible on the official blog, however we don't know as of yet their statistics, I would strongly suggest we add their names and pictures into the weapon section (but without statistics for now.)--The preceding unsigned comment was added by Guy (talk) • contribs)

First things, first, click the little + symbol at the top of the screen to make a new topic at the BOTTOM of the talk page. Also, sign your comments with ~~~~.
As for making new pages, that would take a lot of time to cut and upload each weapon image, only to have them removed with the actual update. We could make the placeholders, but not put anything in it. I don't really see a point though. --Firestorm  User Firestorm Nuke Sig.jpg 21:24, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
this type of posting really confuses me, but thanks for the clarification, and please excuse me for messing up the post or whatever it's called. Guy 21:31, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
It's no problem. The newest stuff goes on the bottom because it can be easier to read once the posts get really long. One other note, tab over your comments on talk pages with colons as I am now, so that everything looks much nicer. Thanks! --Firestorm  User Firestorm Nuke Sig.jpg 21:32, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
We don't know the names of the new weapons, since Valve often changes the names of community weapons upon release(e.g. the Southern Hospitality was originally the Beat-All), and so if we started making articles for these weapons now we would be making pages in the wrong places. The current set-up we have is fine (the frontpage polycount banner and its linked page gives all the info we know without cluttering up the wiki). - DysprosiumJudas 22:31, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
