Hello, Dethos!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Dethos to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Dethos/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Show preview

Pictogram info.png Please make use of the Show preview button. It gives you a preview of the edit you are making, allowing you to perfect your changes before you save the page. You can edit the whole article by clicking the edit button at the top of the page, which is preferable to editing multiple sections consecutively. You've edited the article Necro Smasher/fi six times; all those corrections could have been done in the initial edit. Thank you for contributing! { TidB | t | c } 17:17, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Yes I agree, I'm new to editing wikis so I have now made sure to avoid excessive edits in a short span on a single article.--Dethos (talk) 11:56, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Again, new to editing wikis but I have now made sure to avoid excessive editing on a single article.--Dethos (talk) 11:57, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

A few tips for translating pages

Hi there,

I wanted to let you know a few things:

  • You can auto-translate item names using {{item link|item name}} or {{item name|item name|}}. "item link" links the item AND translates it (Use it where you would normally use a link to an item) and "item name" just translates the name, this is useful if you don't know the name for the item and if the name gets updated you don't have to update the page.
  • Translating updates (including updates without "update" in the name, like Smissmass or Blue moon pack) is easily done through "{{update link|update name}}" or "{{update name|update name}}".
    • For example, {{update link|Jungle Inferno Update}} will turn into Jungle Inferno Update and {{item link|Scattergun}} will turn into Scattergun. This works the same for {{item name|Scattergun}} and {{update name|Jungle Inferno Update}} but they won't work on here since this isn't a translated page.
  • The update link/name is most commonly found in the infoboxes and in the update history. This is where you seem to forget to translate them.
  • If translating quotations with a voice line, you should put |en-sound=yes after the .wav file to make sure it says "(englanniksi)".
  • If you didn't know already, categories at the bottom are also supposed to be translated, just add /fi after it and you're done.
  • I might be wrong but I think "dempman" is supposed to be "demoman" on the Antarctic Eyewear translation. Other than that, the translations are appreciated.

I can correct this stuff on these pages:

If you would rather fix these pages yourself, you're free to do so (just tell me below this message) GrampaSwood (talk) 11:43, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, I'll get to fixing the articles ASAP, in order to learn making my future edits also consistent (I'm planning to translate more than just Scout cosmetics). I'll post here again if I need additional help with these articles.--Dethos (talk) 12:06, 13 February 2019 (UTC)

Edits are now done, I also went back to my earlier cosmetic pages to do the same required edits. Hopefully I got everything right this time; please let me know if I need to make further edits. I will also do the aforementioned edits on my weapon page translations a bit later today. --Dethos (talk) 15:14, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
