Hello, if you could translate this article to Dutch (updated) I think it would be really awesome because it's one that I worked on a lot and I am interested in your language. :)--[[File:Leaderboard class allclass.png|15px|link=]] [[User:Akolyth|<span style="font-size: 14px; font-family: Trebuchet MS">'''Akolyth'''</span>]] ([[User_talk:Akolyth|talk]]) 19:00, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi! Sorry for the first edition of Mercenary Park (cosmetic item) on the [[Baseball cap/fi]] page.<br>
:Yeah sure, I'll get to it tomorrow morning, I'm really tired right now because it's 22:14 but I'll get on it tomorrow. [[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 20:14, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

I come to the wiki to ask to staff about the 3D module you use in the wiki, as the user [[User:Shahar]] told me that the module was originally from this wiki; however, when I tried to contact, I saw that I had to follow a series of steps before, and as I hardly know the saga I went to edit broken images. Then, I discovered that there were more pages in different languages and, seeing that you reversed my change, I did it correctly afterwards.<br>
 +
Staff to staff, sorry for the first inconvenience, I know it's frustrating to revert the changes and edit them again. I wish the best for your wiki, and I see that you have it very well structured and with hardly any bugs, congratulations! Hello Grampa Swood!
Hey, although I'm glad to see people translating wiki pages into Dutch, you really should pay more attention to basic grammar - you're getting basic verbs wrong in some of your translations. [[User:Sleepybird|Sleepybird]] ([[User talk:Sleepybird|talk]]) 04:43, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

I recently registered on wiki, but already made a couple of changes (60+ articles edited)
 +
And i just want to know 2 things:
 +
1) How much edits user must do to be nominated for Wiki-cap
 +
2) And can any person ask somebody to nominate them?
 +
I hope i will do much more changes and maybe one day get nominated and just want to know more about it.
 +
P.S. i bad in english, if there any mistakes, sorry XD

:1. There is no edit requirement for it, but that also does not mean 10 edits will grant the Cap.
 +
:2. Users should only nominate others if they think they truly deserve it. That being said, asking a friend of yours to nominate you will result in the nomination being removed.
 +
:Translators are able to nominate themselves, but this is only if they [[Team Fortress Wiki:Wiki Cap#Note to translators|meet the requirements to do so]].<br>[[File:BLU Wiki Cap.png|20px|link=List of Wiki Cap owners]] | [[Help:Group rights|<span style="color:green;font-family:TF2 Build;">s</span>]] | [[User:GrampaSwood|<font color="DB9C1F">GrampaSwood</font>]] [[File:PraisetheSun.png|20px|alt=Praise the Sun!]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|<font color="DB9C1F">talk</font>]]) ([[Special:Contributions/GrampaSwood|<font color="DB9C1F">contribs</font>]]) 17:55, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

[[User:Sleepybird|Sleepybird]] ([[User talk:Sleepybird|talk]]) 17:28, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
+
== Slimycheivment unlocked ==
Hallo, und Willkommen this is my TF2 Wiki Page! I am an American guy living in the West. I am a sort of [[Medic]] Main, though I do play other classes a lot, I enjoy helping my teammates, so I like Medic. And I also like German and am learning it, so I like the German guy. I also enjoy playing [[Sniper]], though most of the time when I am playing Sniper, I use the SMG most of the time. I have a steam account as well. I also play games other than TF2, such as [[Team Fortress Classic]], [[Fortress Forever]], [[w:Stellaris]], [[w:Europa Universalis IV]], [[w:Crusader Kings II]], [[w:Deltarune]] (yes, I do play this mix of games) and many others.

It always comes up with User:Tenth class gaming/Template:Border (I did remove the {} in order for it to show.) Do you know how to fix this?

First of all, if you don't think it's trivia, fine, but that doesn't mean you should just remove my contribution, second, no it's not mentioned already on the page, Will Sagerman's name is nowhere to be found on the page, he is the creator of the viewmodel and should be credited for it <small>— ''The preceding unsigned comment was added by'' '''[[User:TheKopakah|TheKopakah]]''' ([[User talk:TheKopakah|talk]]) • ([[Special:Contributions/TheKopakah|contribs]]) 17:26 CEST</small>

== Meet the Robinsons speculation ==
+
These are couple reasons I made this:
 +
* The information on [[Payload]] about being able to/not to push/block the cart while ubercharged by different mediguns is wrong, so I needed to fix it.
 +
* It CAN be described all in texts, but I thought it would take up unnecessarily large amount of space, but this template could save time and space at the same time for me and others.

Hi, [[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]].
+
Since I don't use IRC channel, and because I don't know any other staffs/mods, I want to know what your/others opinions are about the template, if it's unnecessary, and if there can be anything else to improve it.

I added a note about speculations about the [[Shutterbug]] being a reference to Meet the Robinsons to the Trivia section because ''three different people'' have done it ''four times'' already. Considering the article is barely over one month old, I thought that was enough times to warrant a note, like how the [[Hound Dog]] has a Trivia note saying "Let readers make their own connection between the yellow painted Hound Dog and Johnny Bravo", and decided to add the Observer to the note as well because I saw that as a potential item for people to add multiple times too.

:Also, describing all the informations in texts would be harder to see it by glance (which means it would need a lot more effort to read all texts) and understand it than describing all of them with the template.
:I only saw it being added once, and I usually see all/most edits on the English part of the wiki (I check the RC every morning until the last edit I saw in IRC's RC then sort on English only to make sure). I did not see other edits, so I missed them. I undid it now, but put the note at the bottom so people who are tempted to add it read it first as opposed to at the top/next to <nowiki>== Trivia ==</nowiki><br>[[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 07:29, 11 September 2019 (UTC)

These are the templates used on the page, here you will just have to find the template's name (In this case, Soul Gargoyle Ranks and click on it using your mouse's scrollwheel (This opens it in another tab). I think your removal of my trivia was unjustified, since it had evidence to corroborate it. There was a a splash of speculation but look at [[:File:Scout_Holding_Nailgun_Trailer_2.png|this image]], then look at Illustrative Rendering in Team Fortress 2's silhouette section. It's some evidence that the Scout was using the SMG model as a Nailgun placeholder. Mind you both Trailers 1 and 2 were made in SFM (then called IFM by VALVe), but it's something. I hope I can convince you with this evidence.<br>

Please forgive my poor formatting, as I'm new to the TF2 Wiki. All I want to do is help, but sometimes, even I need help.

:This doesn't mean that the SMG was the world model for the Nail gun. We don't get to see Scout's first person perspective in the first trailer, so there is no way to know that it's a placeholder (world)model. The most likely thing is that it's most likely just a whole different weapon that was later given to the Sniper. Unless there's some source directly from valve specifically stating that the SMG was a placeholder model (I don't think you'd put it in a trailer if it was a placeholder), it's speculation. Spy lost his tranquilizer gun too, but it isn't necessarily a placeholder for his Revolver. (Nail gun might've been moved to Medic as well, but with a different model).

:If I use {{code|<nowiki>{{other uses|this=(text 1)|for=(text 2)|(text 3)}}</nowiki>}} on korean pages, it currently shows ''"이 문서는 다음에 관한 것입니다: (text 1), 혹시 이 문서를 찾고 계신다면: (text 2), 이 곳에서 볼 수 있습니다: (text 3)"'', which is not quite right (believe me).
:I fixed your formatting btw, if you want a file to be linked add a ":" in front of the link, like this <nowiki>[[:File:filename]]</nowiki><br>[[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 12:23, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

::First off, thanks for reformatting my poor writing.<br>
+
:The order should rather be "이 문서는 (text 1)에 대한 것입니다. 혹시 (text 2) 문서를 찾고 계신다면, (text 3)에서 볼 수 있습니다". You can see the parameter texts should be inside the non-parameter texts. Yes, I know you probably won't even understand why it is not quite right
::Now, I understand what you're saying about the Nailgun, and I get that, but you also forget Medic had the SMG, as in Concept art, the SMG was labelled as his. Not to ::mention, in early builds of TF2, the Syringe Gun's script used the localisation tag "TF_Weapon_SuperSMG". Another thing, the Tranq was never a Revolver replacement. The ::leaked coded corroborates this as it has seperate (albeit useless code) relating to it. Instead of a revolver, Spy was presumably meant to have a silenced pistol. Think ::about it, his ragdollspawn sequence has him almost perfectly hold the Pistol's model. Not only that, Spy also has sequences related to Primary weapons. The Revolver is a ::secondary. Take all this evidence as you will. [[User:Sandvich Thief|Sandvich Thief]] ([[User talk:Sandvich Thief|talk]]) 11:05, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

:::The concept art bit doesn't matter, it's unrelated to this. The tranq thing was just an example, just because it got replaced doesn't mean it was a placeholder. I still don't see enough evidence, all I see is that Scout once had an SMG and then it was switched to the Nail gun.<br>[[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 11:54, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

FWIW, the tfwiki literally says [[Idling|'weekly item cap']]. ([[Item drop system|Here too]], as tagged by the blog.)

Literally, [http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=11105 Valve said 'cap'] when talking about the max drop system items, although possibly in response to the Community usage.

[https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cap Websters]:

: 5: to prevent from growing or spreading : set an upper limit on : ''cap toilet paper prices''

Admittedly, the usage fell off after 2015; but, [https://steamcommunity.com/app/440/discussions/0/1744480967020522892/ maybe not.]

Try

: We've already had a talk about this in the IRC channel, my reasoning was that "cap" could mean any max (Maximum amount of medals you can distribute, maximum items you can have in your inventory) and I have personally never seen it used. Lagg was the one who argued for keeping it and because he has been in the community longer he has seen it used longer. So, if you want to undo it, it's fine by me. I just haven't seen it used personally so it didn't make sense to me.<br>[[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 09:28, 17 March 2020 (UTC)

:: Various players/editors are exposed to different subcultures of the game, so personal experience is not the only rubric to apply. Thus, glossaries and disambies can serve both novice and expert players (you proved the latter). "Cap" in this sense seemed to come from the Community and Valve picked it up. If cap was much used in this drop limit sense ''unadorned'' with the words "daily", "weekly", and "item", it is impractical to verify. It may not matter any more, but we haven't made a practice of removing obsolete terms from glossaries and disambies as they are found still to be found in searches of discussion archives. It is a (more or less) key game mechanic and is adequately covered in the Idling page. Certainly, much less relevant terms can be found living long, happy lives hidden in disambies. If added back it should be in the form I suggested above. However, what about articles of items that are variants of other items, like [[Platinum Pickelhaube|robotic]] and [[Lieutenant Bites the Dust|zombie]] versions, which both mention "it is a X version of Y" in the desctipion and have a link to the original item in See also?

I'm failing to understand your logic, why are historical facts not enough? the hat itself is literally introduced in 1988, as you can see in official soviet rulebook for military personnel to properly wear uniforms;

1969 version; http://www.vedomstva-uniforma.ru/forma1969/1969.html

1973 version; http://www.vedomstva-uniforma.ru/forma1973/1973.html

1988 version; http://www.vedomstva-uniforma.ru/forma1988/1988.html

M69 was never referred as 'Afghanka', and there was no field cap for that uniform, only a sidecap.

even if Svdl says it's based on obr69 or obr73, it's him who's misinformed. though i doubt it since he named his item set 'Air Defense', referencing it's indeed based on VDV paratroopers from Soviet-Afghan War period. <small>— ''The preceding unsigned comment was added by'' '''[[User:SovietTriumph|SovietTriumph]]''' ([[User talk:SovietTriumph|talk]]) • ([[Special:Contributions/SovietTriumph|contribs]]) 05:55 CEST, 2 April 2020</small>

:First of all, sign your comments using <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>. Second of all, it's still speculation because even if it looks like it's based off of something it might not be. This is simply how it works for everything. A source from the maker is enough to prove it.<br>[[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 08:21, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

:::Speculation means there's other possibilities. that hat ingame IS 100% identical to obr88 hat, every stiches and details match. i know some hats with irl counterparts went some major changes to fit into TF2's artstyle, but this isn't one of it. its design is unique, there is no copy of this hat made by another country. i can't see why you're needing item maker's confirmation when everything is so clear.

::::: "If an item can be cited, however, it should be" You will find me more generous on the subject. Yes, it is possible to draw a random hat and have it closely match a historic icon, but not reasonably possible. Also, yes, an email from the modeler would be appropriate ''if posible'', as the guide says. But what if the modeler is mistaken. Suppose, I am speculating here, the modeler is mistaken in good faith claiming that their model is '69 version and Valve accepted it on that basis, when in fact the model is '88 and therefore out of period for the game. (In that situation, there is both factuality and notability in the Trivia.)

::::: If there is something that can bring a modicum of virtue to a game wiki, it is raising attention to histroy represented by the items we play with. Here I have been prompted to know there is such a thing as the VDV, I would much rather have a link in either the Lead or the Trivia to the history of the specific model, because my search only finds today's uniform. It would seem strange that Valve would approve it if it was not a 1970s or earlier historic artifact. Part of the maker's business model of the model is that it is a historical reference. Knowledgable members of the community have recognized it as VDV as a purchase point. Unknowning members are edified by the OP's contribution.

::::: How do we know the fairy wings are in reference to ''that'' Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna!?!? There were ''at least'' two different Grand Duchesses of that name ''at that time''! How could this happen! Oh, this is bad. We must get a letter from Valve!

I recall a conversation, wherein I defended the Trivia, but I did not post the Trivia.

* Above, GrampaSwood provided a [https://i.imgur.com/Qt5vopb.png clip of a single chat message] from the Cursed Cove contributor [https://steamcommunity.com/id/EmNudge EmNudge,] ''to wit'', “there is a mistake on the cursed cove wiki, the first Trivia fact is incorrect … clever, but incorrect”

I have some recollection of more of a conversation, but I cannot find it. IIRC, my argument was that the positioning of the skeletons was curious at best, but definitely suggestive of something, if not the scene in Titanic (but yes, it could be something else). Attributed to EmNudge was that those skeletons were nothing more than an accidental residue of some mechanic intended for the map, but was completely removed for causing too many game running problems, except for those skeletons just lying there, meaning absolutely nothing.

As for documentation of references and/or bases of items, I have had many thoughts over the days.
+
== Thanks and stuff and junk ==

I acknowledge that Trivia stating that the creator had a specific model risks some decree of speculation. I get that it is [[Help:Style guide/Trivia#Guidelines for trivia|preferred]]/[[ User:GrampaSwood|acceptable]] to have a statement from the creator, say an email or Workshop statement. However,

* generally, what is said in the Workshop is ''erzat'' for the wiki, isn’t it?

* an email? that’s not an official Valve publication.

* and it is potentially possible, if rare, for the creator to be mistaken about the identification of the basis for their model.

I tend to favor placing identification of the basis in the lead, where it is acceptable to place ''obvious'' descriptions, like "a hat shaped like a large yellow banana" for the [[Potassium Bonnett]], but the only "proof" we have of that (that it is indeed supposed to be a large yellow banana, since our eyes can be fooled and our memories mistaken) is statements in the Workshop, which, ironically, are generally discounted in other cases. We say, '"Mannanas" is a portmanteau of "Mann" and "bananas"'. Is that not at least a small sliver of speculation? On the [[Mannanas Hat|brand emblem]], the name is in two words "Mann" and "Nanas"; and ''nanas'' is a [https://educalingo.com/en/dic-ms/nanas Malay word for pineapple]. Surely, Valve meant bananas, not pineapple, right? That can’t possibly be speculation? Then, why is there a pineapple in [[:File:Poopy_joe_banana_sticker.png|Poopy Joe’s bugle]]!?!?

As to the identity of the '''Fat Man’s Field Cap:

* It has some resemblance to [https://www.pinterest.com/pin/326370304223193067/ one type of WWII Soviet field cap]

* Maybe a [https://www.ebay.com/i/123884054038?chn USSR Soviet Army '''Afghan''' Hat?]

* Maybe this [https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/afganka-soviet-cap-russian-m69-motor-1860284984 Afganka, Soviet Cap, Russian M69?]

* The set was excitedly popular with many users that recognized the specific models (or maybe assumed they did)

Maybe ''real expert'' is needed to properly identify the cap.

All of that said, I really think that the Lead should ''at the very least'' say "Soviet-era military field cap".

Hello there!

So, about that Badlands stuff. I saw your message. In short, I will mention your page in a subdirectory, but I will not delete it. I've already created such subcategories in 2fort and Dustbowl, so there is no point in deleting these posts. Plus, I haven't seen your page at all, because it is not even mentioned anywhere. So, let it be as it is.

Thanks for picking up the slack after I edited the Announcer page and created the disambiguation page for Cow (thought it was funny). Hi,

Here's gameplay footage I captured of myself just now, unlocking the Worth a Thousand Words achievement by using Taunt: Square Dance with a Shotgun out. (Last time it happened it was with a Panic Attack, so I imagine it's the same with any Soldier weapon that has a 21-gun salute taunt.)

== Bot Support on Maps ==

I would respectfully disagree with your removal of the note about bot and Navmesh support from [[Hassle Castle]] and [[Moldergrove]]. While players can make their own navmesh, that requires <code>sv_cheats 1</code>, whereas maps which include support do not require cheats, and therefore support achievements and statistics gathering.  With Valve's refusal to deal with casual mode bots, myself and many other players have turned to private servers to play uninterrupted with friends, and need bots to fill out a team.  When only three of the four Scream Fortress maps support bots, I feel it is worth distinguishing which.  [[User:Sgtketchup|Sgtketchup]] ([[User talk:Sgtketchup|talk]]) 21:33, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

:In that case, users can visit [[Bots]], which I saw you edited, as it makes much more sense for users to visit a list of maps that have bot support rather than visit every map page to see if it supports bots or not. Apart from this, it's not super notable either (Especially if it will only benefit a select few people playing with bots).<br>[[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 21:56, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

:: The main [[Template:Map_infobox/doc|map infobox]] already has a field for bot support, so more than a "few people" found it notable.  I would like to repeat the edits using the infobox template.  Users seeking information on a particular map should not need to visit an unlinked page to find that information, and it is at least as notable as a list of Underworld Hazards.  [[User:Sgtketchup|Sgtketchup]] ([[User talk:Sgtketchup|talk]]) 01:17, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

== The Buffalo Steak Sandvich ==

Hello there. My recent edit pertaining to the removal of the stack-up of the GRU's speed increase and the Steak Sandvich's was erased, even though the information is correct. The removal of stacking the two items has been removed from the game since the [https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/December_22,_2010_Patch | December 22, 2010 patch] at the earliest, as noted by the patch notes. Although it is possible that the patch in question has since been reverted accidentally, it is not reflected in patch notes, or in-game as noted in this [https://youtu.be/IFODexcIjtU YouTube demonstration] I have created.

Is there any reason as to why it was deleted?

Regards, [[User:CaptainKodachrome|CaptainKodachrome]] ([[User talk:CaptainKodachrome|talk]]) 00:31, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

:The patch notes are incorrect, there are 2 videos at the bottom of the page which shows that the speed is 310.50 HU/s with Steak + GRU, while only GRU is 299 HU/s. This speed difference is incredibly small, but a speed difference nonetheless. Even in your [https://i.imgur.com/7che1iF.png own video] (Low quality pic, sorry) it shows that the GRU reaches the end before the Fists.<br>[[User:GrampaSwood|GrampaSwood]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|talk]]) 10:49, 14 November 2020 (UTC)

Stuff in the description. I do believe this is working as designed, only that TF2 devs frequently mistake what +X% faster means for action times, it's present in virtually all blue text on weapons like the force a nature's "+50%" firing speed meaning that it fires twice as fast. --[[User:Manta|Manta]] ([[User talk:Manta|talk]]) 14:26, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

::No need, just look at the Force-a-nature and the scattergun pages, these are verified numbers right? The attack interval on the FaN is exactly half of the scattergun. Meaning that +50% firing speed actually means in that instance that it really -50% attack interval (Or +100% true firing speed). Do the same maths for the pocket pistol, family business, scottish resistance you'll see that they consistently get this wrong. Now actually read the video's description for the rest of the maths. If you're going to make me do all the work, at least read what I'm writing. --[[User:Manta|Manta]] ([[User talk:Manta|talk]]) 14:36, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

== Semi-tame Trapper's Hat, Glow from Below, Mascot definition, and Elizabeth the Third ==

Hi,

This is the guy who was editing 'mascot'.

Thanks for stepping in, I'm new and generally have no clue what I'm doing.

One thing that seems confusing is that hats which give the player an assist in pyroland seem to not be included under the mascot page.

Glow from Below, for instance, should be excluded.

The thing that also is confusing is that Semi-tame Trapper's Hat is on there, I took it off. If that was the wrong call, I'll undo my edit.

And also Elizabeth the Third (which is a mascot) has no pyroland demonstration video. I don't know who to contact about it.

Thanks.

==It's me, your uncle.==

Hey, Uncle Buttmunch here. I've noticed you've been hounding me for quite a bit on the bugs I've been putting on some pages, and I just wanted to talk to you about it.

First of all: What sources am I expected to put up, and how? I've noticed that most other bugs listed have no sourcing at all, and every bug that I'VE been putting up are ones that I've seen and experienced firsthand. So, what (and how) do I have to really source?

Second of all: Sorry if I've been putting everything back up once it was taken down. I'm very new to wiki editing, and I never knew about the style guides.

But yea, since I listed all the things that need to be done to view the bugs, you can feel free to try them out on your own time. Just a quick note, though: The Taunt Lock bug on round end I discovered when I WON on 2fort as Scout, and I did the Mannrobics for the end taunt. I also got the same thing to happen with Sniper and Spy, same map and taunt.

Thanks, dude. If I need to make a video to source these bugs, so be it. Just let me know what's expected of me.

Until then, I'll be waiting. Thanks. [[User:Uncle Buttmunch|Uncle Buttmunch]] ([[User talk:Uncle Buttmunch|talk]]) 21:18, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

:Hello Uncle,

:For all new bugs added, a source is required to be added. It is too much work for wiki editors to have to test every new bug added, and is simply not the responsibility of them to verify. I get that you've seen them, but this is not sufficient proof. A good way to add a source is to add a video or an image in the summary. These bugs have largely been added before this whole check thing became regular. It's too big of an undertaking to review every single bug on every single page to look for outdated bugs.

:And don't worry, making mistakes is completely okay and please don't see this as hostile in any way, it's not meant to be.<br>[[User:GrampaSwood|<font color="DB9C1F">GrampaSwood</font>]] ([[User talk:GrampaSwood|<font color="DB9C1F">talk</font>]]) 22:05, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello, GrampaSwood!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User GrampaSwood to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:GrampaSwood/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Sorry about my first edition

Hi! Sorry for the first edition of Mercenary Park (cosmetic item) on the Baseball cap/fi page.
I come to the wiki to ask to staff about the 3D module you use in the wiki, as the user User:Shahar told me that the module was originally from this wiki; however, when I tried to contact, I saw that I had to follow a series of steps before, and as I hardly know the saga I went to edit broken images. Then, I discovered that there were more pages in different languages and, seeing that you reversed my change, I did it correctly afterwards.
Staff to staff, sorry for the first inconvenience, I know it's frustrating to revert the changes and edit them again. I wish the best for your wiki, and I see that you have it very well structured and with hardly any bugs, congratulations! A22PG (talk) 16:31, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, I've made similar mistakes a few times in the past mostly with Bonesaw (map) and Brimstone (map) linking to Bonesaw and Brimstone respectively. It's better that you made the edit and bring the mistake to someone's attention than to not have made the edit and have the mistake be there until someone else found it. I also really don't mind reverting changes and editing them again.

I have a question

Hello Grampa Swood!

I recently registered on wiki, but already made a couple of changes (60+ articles edited)

And i just want to know 2 things: 1) How much edits user must do to be nominated for Wiki-cap 2) And can any person ask somebody to nominate them? I hope i will do much more changes and maybe one day get nominated and just want to know more about it. P.S. i bad in english, if there any mistakes, sorry XD TSTH 17:46, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

1. There is no edit requirement for it, but that also does not mean 10 edits will grant the Cap.
2. Users should only nominate others if they think they truly deserve it. That being said, asking a friend of yours to nominate you will result in the nomination being removed.
Translators are able to nominate themselves, but this is only if they meet the requirements to do so.

With the Boxes

Hey, I am definitely going to need your help with the boxes part, whenever I attempt to add this in below: /Template:Border | image = Main menu soldier.png | image-size = 20px | title = General info | content = Hallo, und Willkommen this is my TF2 Wiki Page! I am an American guy living in the West. I am a sort of Medic Main, though I do play other classes a lot, I enjoy helping my teammates, so I like Medic. And I also like German and am learning it, so I like the German guy. I also enjoy playing Sniper, though most of the time when I am playing Sniper, I use the SMG most of the time. I have a steam account as well. I also play games other than TF2, such as Team Fortress Classic, Fortress Forever, w:Stellaris, w:Europa Universalis IV, w:Crusader Kings II, w:Deltarune (yes, I do play this mix of games) and many others. It always comes up with User:Tenth class gaming/Template:Border (I did remove the {} in order for it to show.) Do you know how to fix this? Issue i'm facing

Hello Gramps, I'm currently starting to make edits for AR pages(I'm aware that it's deprecated) but meh why not, ok so my issue is that I can't change some elements and names in edit page, it's visible in the original page but wherever i look in edit mode, I can't change it, looking forward to hear your reply.

Acceonit (talk) 23:34, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

It's likely a template that you're looking for? Anything in curly brackets {{ }} is a template. To find these, simply take the text in the brackets and put it after "wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Template:". For example, {{Painted variants}} would be on wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Template:Painted variants.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 23:43, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
Also note that for Arabian pages, only existing translations should be edited. No new ones or anything.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 00:34, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
I understand Acceonit (talk) 15:12, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
One last question, regard what you said: 'no new ones or anything', will that apply for crucial pages like unique, strange, critical etc.? Acceonit (talk) 15:30, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
Yes, no new ones at all.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 15:31, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
One one last question hehe, sorry, will changing red links with english ones will be okay? Acceonit (talk) 15:50, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── You can ask as many questions as you like. Links should be to Arabic pages, but it may be better to not have a link if the page doesn't exist.
BLU Wiki Cap.png | s | GrampaSwood Praise the Sun! (talk) (contribs) 15:52, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Will do, Thanks Acceonit (talk) 16:32, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
I guess I have to bother you more... sorry, so I noticed few things, most titles and statements are stored in a template, that's great, I can edit that but which one? and how can I know it's the original? for example, `السكاوت`, this how can I edit the original template of the Scout's AR Name?, another matter is translations.. for example Soldier in Arabic is الجندي but I have no clue.. why in someone's mindset to add it as صولجر, it makes no sense in arabic, i guess transliteration? ok but why? for foreign understanding? or just bad translation? can't really ask current ar translators, most of them appear to be 'dead'
Acceonit (talk) 22:01, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
Those translations are stored in the {{Dictionary}}. As for the Soldier translation, I don't speak Arabic so I can't tell you.

I wonder if this template I just made would be useful

Hello. I made {{UberCharge Cart}} template, and I want to know if it would be useful.

These are couple reasons I made this:

  • The information on Payload about being able to/not to push/block the cart while ubercharged by different mediguns is wrong, so I needed to fix it.
  • It CAN be described all in texts, but I thought it would take up unnecessarily large amount of space, but this template could save time and space at the same time for me and others.

Since I don't use IRC channel, and because I don't know any other staffs/mods, I want to know what your/others opinions are about the template, if it's unnecessary, and if there can be anything else to improve it.

User Nihil Sign Pfp.png Nihil ( Talk | Contributions ) 15:56, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Also, describing all the informations in texts would be harder to see it by glance (which means it would need a lot more effort to read all texts) and understand it than describing all of them with the template.
"Intuition" is a key-word, I guess. I really hope to see any feedback from you and others.
User Nihil Sign Pfp.png Nihil ( Talk | Contributions ) 16:03, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
Seems good, but I'll make some minor changes first. Preferably, these should be made on userspace before being moved to main unless it's a pre-existing table.

Projectile Shield Cleanup

Hey Grampa, I've been working on fixing up the Projectile Shield strategy page to bring it up to Wiki standards and was hoping if you could let me know if it's goin alright as of right now? It's at User:Payn/ProjectileShieldCleanup. Please be brutally honest with your feedback, I want to make it as good as it could possibly be, as it is still a W.I.P. Payn (talk) 06:56, 14 February 2024 (UTC)

I would remove the Medic section in the class-specific strategy, and merge it with the general strategy, or remove the general strategy and merge it with the class-specific section. I also wouldn't put the Medic section at the top of the class-specific list, but rather at the usual placement. As for content-specific stuff, I'll have to go over it 1-by-1 to see if they're useful or not. You'll have to give me permission either here or using {{AllowedEditors}} on the page.

Mannpower Powerups template

Hi. I'm working on making a template for mannpower's powerups. The link is User:Nihil/Template:Mannpower powerups.
Main purpose is to make it easier to translate/edit powerup table, and to make the list on Mannpower section on List of game modes shorter and easier to read.
I gave you permission to edit just in case if you see anything to fix/improve (I think language transition part might not be right). It would be glad to get any feedback from you.

Also, is it possible to make this table a bit smaller when used on other pages? I think this table itself is enough for Mannpower page, but would be too big for List of game modes page.
Should I make another template to shrink it, or should I make it collapsible? Or maybe there can be other ways to make it fit for the page. I don't know what would be the best, or at least a better way.

I'm greatly thankful for your helps and advices, as always.
User Nihil Sign Pfp.png Nihil ( Talk | Contributions ) 06:50, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

Looks good to me. I would recommend either putting all the available translations in there already, or just not replacing them on pages that don't have support on the template yet. Otherwise, I fixed the translation switching template and commented it out (it adds a category by default).

Questions about korean localizations for {{other uses}} template

Hello.

I've been using {{other uses}} template, and I have always wondered if there's any way to change the order of the parameter texts and the non-parameter texts.

It is really hard to explain to foreign people how Korean works even with examples, but here's an example:

If I use {{other uses|this=(text 1)|for=(text 2)|(text 3)}} on korean pages, it currently shows "이 문서는 다음에 관한 것입니다: (text 1), 혹시 이 문서를 찾고 계신다면: (text 2), 이 곳에서 볼 수 있습니다: (text 3)", which is not quite right (believe me).
The order should rather be "이 문서는 (text 1)에 대한 것입니다. 혹시 (text 2) 문서를 찾고 계신다면, (text 3)에서 볼 수 있습니다". You can see the parameter texts should be inside the non-parameter texts. Yes, I know you probably won't even understand why it is not quite right

tl;dr: I wonder if you, or people you know, know how to change the order of texts and parameters in the template specifically for korean, or if I should make another template for this.

I think making another template is easier than finding out how to change the order, but I wanted to ask you before doing anything.

User Nihil Sign Pfp.png Nihil ( Talk | Contributions ) 04:51, 19 February 2024 (UTC)

I believe some other languages had this problem too. Simply replace this template with {{Hatnote}} and write them out manually each time. It's unfortunate, but without changing up the whole template we can't do much about this. I'll see if I can do smth about it at some point.
