Hey there Nikno, I have recently translated the page for the Thermal Thruster (https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Thermal_Thruster/it), but for some reasons, the Mann Vs. Machine redirect doesn't work, even if the translated page do exist.

I also fixed all of the class pages in Italian (they were missing some sets[the engineer never actually got one]).
 +
And going trough the pages I noticed that the Demoman and other classes, needed some translations to the weapon notes.
 +
 +
On the Demoman page I found this:
 +
<nowiki>{{retrans|introduce 3 class weapons table templates as in /en, translating 1) 'notes' part of each template and 2) Dictionary/common_strings#class_weapon_tables keys. This will help keeping weapons tables synchronized with /en.}}</nowiki>
 +
 +
The question is, how do I translate them? When I edit the page I only see the '''{primary weapon}''' thingy etc...

:Sorry for the late response, the comment refers to changing the tables to templates. Templates are links to an external page that always keeps up to date the content, in this case {{tlx|Class speed table|demoman}}. See [https://wiki.tf/d/2432406 here]. The translations can then be altered on the corresponding template page. — shots fired by: [[User:Nikno|Nikno]] <small>'''{'''[[User talk:Nikno|Talk]]''' | '''[[Special:Contributions/Nikno|Contribs]]'''}'''</small> 14:03, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

::Ok thanks for the explanation (and for fixing the page). Another thing, me and the user [https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/User:Chilors Chilors] are both trying to translate the various pages but the templates using {item link|    } are not translated in italian. How can we translate them?
 +
::[[User:D-ray Ent.|D-ray Ent.]] ([[User talk:D-ray Ent.|talk]]) 18:01, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
 +
:::Always prefer {{tl|item link}}. If the item name is not displayed in Italian, this is due to the name not being translated in [[Template:Dictionary/items]]. On that page you can add the ''official'' translations to items. You should not edit the whole page but instead click on the section you want to edit because the dictionary is probably too big for your browser to load comfortably. As example, see [https://wiki.tf/d/2432523 here]. Please maintain alphabetical order and carefully watch for the amount of spaces before your string. — shots fired by: [[User:Nikno|Nikno]] <small>'''{'''[[User talk:Nikno|Talk]]''' | '''[[Special:Contributions/Nikno|Contribs]]'''}'''</small> 09:42, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for the tips

Hey there Nikno, thank you for the tips you gave me. I've corrected my mistakes and will try to work as error-free as I can from now on. Translating pages is my way to give back to the community together with a friend who will also be doing soon. Feel free to correct me again if I make mistakes, since I'm still pretty new to this. I'm atleast happy my works doesn't go unnoticed ^^ And thank you again! - Niels Nizuka (talk) 11:07, 22 February 2017 (PST)

I don't know if The Scout will be notified or not (since it is under my page and not theirs), just letting you know.
We like to keep discussions in one place. If he doesn't recognize it, I'll warn him on his talk page again. Trust me, I know on what page I'm commenting. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 07:51, 20 March 2017 (PDT)

Username Help!

Hey Nikno. It's me again. I was wondering, how do I change my username? Do I have to make a new account or is there a thing that allows me to change it? Also, on a side note, what is the percentage bar on your user page for? Just wondering. Sorry if I am a burden. Thanks in advance! Leaderboard class scout.png SCUNT MAIN 09:57, 21 March 2017 (PDT)

You need to contact an admin for that (preferrably not i-ghost or Moussekateer since they potentially take long to respond, see Help:Group Rights for a list of administrators). You're absolutely not a burden. :) — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 10:10, 21 March 2017 (PDT)

Hey, it's me, Goodjob!

Hey, I have a simple question, regarding contributions:

I'm a bit anxious about the thought that my contributions are basically meaningless, if the writting isn't perfect. The thing is, that while my translations might not be perfect, are they somehow worse? How would you look at that, if you were to judge? Oh and you've probably noticed, but I had a few month break, school became more important, and so i had to ditch the wiki for a little while, but the grades got better, and I got some free time to translate a few articles. Goodjob (talk) 07:48, 5 April 2017 (PDT)

I don't speak Polish and so can't judge the quality of your translations. Considering wiki text quality like linking and things, I checked your last article (see diff), it's near perfection. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 07:55, 5 April 2017 (PDT)

I live!

Per your previous comment, would you direct me to grievous cases of low English language quality, please? Mikado282 (talk) 05:37, 8 April 2017 (PDT) I don't maintain a list of pages with bad grammar or something similar, it was just a general statement that some edits don't look that great, sorry. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 05:48, 8 April 2017 (PDT)

Just drop me a note when you see one. Mikado282 (talk) 06:30, 8 April 2017 (PDT)

Dealing with "burning out"

Hey, it's me goodjob, third time, or second time i think.

I have this problem: I've been working on getting this one big translation, for a good month and half, but i have issue with ocassional burning out

I've done half of the translation in about a week, but then i was just on a long hiatus, unable to finish it.

I'd like to ask, how to deal with that kind of an issue, because i am very much willing to continue working on articles, but i just have this issue that just halts me in doing work for consistent time peroid, and if i'd be able to work and upload consistently, i'd be good, that one gold rush article took me just a day to make, so i'm very much capable of doing some medium articles in semi-short span of time, and if i haven't got my own problem, you could probably see me upload more often, with some consistent time gaps between.

I would really like to hear some advice from you, if you have any. :)

Goodjob (talk) 06:49, 27 August 2017 (PDT)

Well if you've got other more important things to do that prevent you from working on a big article over a continuous period you could, as you say yourself, just translate smaller to moderately extensive articles. Another possibility when translating big articles is to just save them in a Word document or similar and for example translate 1 paragraph or so per day. I'm looking forward to more of your work! :) — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 23:07, 27 August 2017 (PDT)

Quick question

Thanks for the advice. A quick question, on Pistol/zh-hans, the name for the button for the NORMAL 3D image in the item infobox is untranslated while the ones for the red/blu team versions are, do you know how to translate that button? Thanks! ⇒Leaderboard class spy.png Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 08:42, 29 August 2017 (PDT)

That did apply for all languages, corrected that, thanks for the tip! — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 11:04, 29 August 2017 (PDT)
Sorry to ask you so much, but uh, CAPPER/zh-hans also has two untranslated buttons, RED and BLU, fix pl0x?
danke ⇒Leaderboard class spy.png Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 06:47, 30 August 2017 (PDT)
In this case, you could use the parameters view1name for RED and view2name for BLU. — Tark lm(pt-br) 07:44, 30 August 2017 (PDT)
You can ask as much as you want. What Tark said was a temporary solution, I fixed it in the template now. Thanks again for the report. :) — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 13:53, 30 August 2017 (PDT)
You can ask as much as you want. ok :3
Bonk! Atomic Punch/zh-hans has untranslated names for the team colors.
I actually checked out the template this time and tried to fix it myself but I couldn't, I don't know how it works.
As far as I can see it's the |view3name={{{view3name|{{common string|Festive}} ({{common string|BLU}})}}} and some others, but the common string template is there, and it is translated in the dictionary.
thanks m8 ⇒Leaderboard class spy.png Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 06:55, 2 September 2017 (PDT)
It's better to let somebody else fix such complex high-use templates, since a lot could go wrong. This current case is pretty complex since it utilizes Module:3D viewer advanced. I'll provide a fix later, if I can. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 07:11, 2 September 2017 (PDT)

Hey I need some help

Remember that topic about "report regarding "gift" and "trade parameters on Lugermorph" ? Well there is one more in "Pyrovision Goggles" article. Can you please help with that too ? Please ? Dan 11:43, 18 October 2017 (PDT)

No sorry, I don't remember said topic. Please elaborate on your problem, I don't see anything wrong on Pyrovision Goggles/pl apart from it being a little outdated. — shots fired by: Nikno {Talk | Contribs} 00:03, 19 October 2017 (PDT)
Well after your edit in Pyrovision Goggles/pl bot already changed what I wanted to translate. I was talking about that edit https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Lugermorph&diff=2146998&oldid=2096269. That's the first problem I had.
Now there's second problem. Hey there Nikno, I have recently translated the page for the Thermal Thruster (https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Thermal_Thruster/it), but for some reasons, the Mann Vs. Machine redirect doesn't work, even if the translated page do exist. D-ray Ent. (talk) 13:43, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

D-ray Ent. (talk) 18:01, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
Always prefer {{item link}}. If the item name is not displayed in Italian, this is due to the name not being translated in Template:Dictionary/items. On that page you can add the official translations to items. You should not edit the whole page but instead click on the section you want to edit because the dictionary is probably too big for your browser to load comfortably. As example, see here.
