Marked for deletion

Hi, I created image "File:Meetthemedicbuttonpl.png" and you marked this file for deletion. I have not seen reason why it should be deleted so I'm asking you why it should be deleted? This image is for article Meet the Team/pl (english article here) which I'm going to translate. If you think that this image is unnecessary ok, my mistake, but before I started to create Polish image I saw "File:Meetthemedicbutton.png" "File:Meetthepyrobutton.png" "File:Meetthemedicbuttonrus.png" and "File:Meetthepyrobuttonrus.png" images so I decided to create Polish image. Maybe these files should be marked for deletion too? Could you check them and decide what do to? Oh, I almost forgot. I also created few more images from "Category:Meet the team images/pl" and I hope that these images don't need to be marked for deletion. -- Szumin (talkcontrib) 17:46, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

My mistake

Sorry about the random friend request from someone you don't know. I'm just kinda new, and got confused between this site and the unofficial TF2 Wiki, and had a question. Didn't mean to come off as a creeper, I was just confused between the two sites. I know now. Xenak 21:56, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Brown Spy Taunt Image Reverts

Why did you revert all of the new spy images for the taunts? The images need to be replaced because the other image colors are incorrect. Benjamuffin painted over BLU spy to make him RED, so those images are not an accurate in-game representation of the taunts. Balladofwindfishes 16:10, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Birds

In regards to the Birds page. Let's not start an edit war. Saying the birds will explode if "interacted with in any fashion" is too vague. It should stay as "shot, hit with a melee weapon, or touched by a player". Grug 01:47, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

And yet, this is false. You can also trigger them by throwing jarate, milk, sandvich or steak at them. Thusly yours is false. – Smashman (talk) 01:49, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
"Shot, hit with a bat, shovel, fish, stick of candy, sword, hammer or wrench, soaked in milk or urine, trodden on, set on fire, thrown at with a sandvich or chocolate bar, stabbed, hit with a baseball, blown up by a rocket or pipe bomb, or impaled on an arrow" is a little too long to fit in one sentence, I concur. --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 01:53, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
With whom, Cooper? – Smashman (talk) 01:57, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
With you, of course :) --Cooper Kid (Blether · Contreebs) 11:16, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Is that what you counting on? - Grand-O-Rand Painted Détective Noir 694D3A.png · (Talk) 14:10, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

I saw, it's a bit defunct now, but thanks nonetheless! – Smashman (talk)

Why are you uploading unused paint textures?

Unless the policy for this has changed (or someone gave you an O.K. on this), unused paint textures have no place on the wiki unless the hat is made paintable through an update. FlotsamX 00:14, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Because when I looked to the right, it said Paintable. – Smashman (talk) 00:18, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
You might as well keep them, it'll probably be made paintable eventually. Balladofwindfishes 00:19, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Undoing edits

Please provide a reason for undoing edits other than just the default edit summary, it still confuses users when they don't get an explanation why their edit was undone. This courtesy is something we expect of every editor. -- Pilk (talk) 14:14, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Paint

... your images are lower resolution, have weird edges, weird angle and the lighting looks the same (mine aren't fullbright anyway.) seb26 08:54, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Going to redo mine since I can see the lighting problems, but really you could have just posted on my talk or something first... seb26 08:56, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Weird edges? Where? Why does the resolution matter that much? And the angle is fine, I'm showing the inside of the bandana too. – Smashman (talk) 08:58, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Resolution matters because it's best to provide the highest possible. The cutting of the edges on the entire hat is rough. Please don't upload paint pics if they aren't going to be high quality. seb26 09:01, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
That's moronic. The image gets scaled down. The angle you currently have is focusing directly on the error, and does not show the hat as a whole. If you want I can redo the images in a higher resolution. The cutting is not rough. I used the difference between 2 images with white and black backgrounds. It's precise. – Smashman (talk) 09:05, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

New menu icons

Painted Variants

Why'd you undo my ordering for the team colors? I did the same with the other colors a long time ago. Some of the colors look so similar on some hats that they need to be put right next to each other to tell which is which. Alphabetical isn't a useful ordering. --Archdeco 18:17, 29 June 2011 (PDT)

They're all shades of BLU and RED (obviously except the Orange), and alphabetical makes sense for these. It also messed up my uploading big time. I see nothing wrong with this order. – Smashman (talk) 18:18, 29 June 2011 (PDT)
Meh.--Archdeco 18:27, 29 June 2011 (PDT)

Why undo the Righteous Bison edit?

I just swapped the quotes on the Bison and the big one because they fit each other better. Now the two new weapons have the same quote. Please revert that edit. --SilverHammer 11:13, 24 July 2011 (PDT)

Look, I'm just gonna go ahead and add it back. If you're wondering where the quote is from, it's from the comic. Where's actually holding the Bison in his hand when he says it. http://www.teamfortress.com/grordborts/comic/?p=3 --SilverHammer 11:20, 24 July 2011 (PDT)

Complaint

Good day Smashman, Sire Im writing to ask you to change your judgment on the little files I sent up on wiki couple hours ago and these were single digits rendered in fonts of tf2 and tf2build that you have marked for deletion. I would like to convince you into reconsidering your decision by presenting arguments to defend my stand of letting these files be.

The purpose these images have been uploaded is an experimental Template:Ammo tool I've written earlier today, whose sole target is to improve the lookings of the way the number of ammo loaded and carried is presented in the weapon tables (please take a look at http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scout/pl#Podstawowa to see how it looks), so that it resembles the way those numbers are displayed on the HUD.

In the short file report note you've advised "using font". As far as I've learned there is a way to render a text in tf2build font using one of the templates, alas there yet is no possibility to format text in tf2 font, so the desired effect couldn't be achieved this way. I have tried the Template:TF2B and was disappoitned by the quality of the output font, mainly due to lack of antialiasing and difficulty in setting the size of font to fit the ratios I've found perfectly matching the ones present on the ingame HUD and I must say I've put quite a bit of pixelart effort into preparing these single digits to look flawlessly when output by my simple tool, being at proper height, with right intervals.

Therefore to my greatest surprise I've found my little, small in weight, and undisturbing images flagged to deletion in merely half an hour after they had been uploaded.

I'm incenced by the way I've been treated by a moderator of this wiki, a person who ought to be peculiarilly willing to help improve the database; instead I've been encountered with a bossy attitude, one I'd least expect and one that weakens urge to do anything new, be creative for the benefit of the community.

I believe you can now better understand my standpoint and are willing to cancel your decision of deleting files Loaded_(1 through 9 and 0).png and Carried_(again '1' through '9', plus '0' and 'inf').png. Markfrompoland 10:46, 1 August 2011 (PDT)

The new Shugo styled icons.

I started to make icons for the items where Shugo left off but I noticed that the work has already been done here at the wiki. I was told to contact you about them. Is there a pack to compliment Shugo's for my ingame backpack?--Jordan 19:49, 1 August 2011 (PDT)

Not as yet, we are working on it, however. – Smashman (talk) 22:01, 1 August 2011 (PDT)
OK, thank you. That will save me some trouble.--Jordan 17:59, 2 August 2011 (PDT)

Re: Reverting Images

Yo - wasn't so much that I didn't read it, for some reason the images got mixed up. The guy who originally changed it from open to closed mouth (old to new), somehow showed the image as open (old). I reverted it back to the first update since yesterday, and suddenly when the page refreshed, I was the one who reverted it back to old, while the guy who I reverted it from, had reverted it to new.

It's all very (un)clear, actually! Sorry though. :> --Mave 15:24, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

No, no, I do understand, and I did click the red link. THAT'S what confused me. The small icons were mixed up, old was new, new was old. Mave 16:00, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

Thank you!

Smashman has taught me alot of things, making my brain a tad smarter with every bit of knowlage. To keep my attention he insults me, great friend! -- Evaldas256 04:52, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

Painted Images rotations

Hey there. Are you able to add the HLMV positioning values for the Superfan, Lucky No. 42, Triboniophorus Tyrannus painted images to the rotations page as noted on this section of the Painted Images tutorial; and remove those items from Template:Painted items#To do once done. Thanks -RJ 06:33, 16 August 2011 (PDT)

An update on this? There seems to be proper values for the Triboniophorus Tyrannus. There are also normal rotationals for the Superfan, however it lacks the Trans and LightROT values. Lucky No. 42 is still missing entirely from the aforementioned rotations page, as well. --Xenaero 09:39, 29 August 2011 (PDT)
Lucky No. 42 is impossible. I used the Scout's model, which I have since moved. Superfan, I can take a look at. – Smashman (talk) 13:11, 29 August 2011 (PDT)

Item icon reverting

Hey there. I was wondering, why did you revert the Shugo-style item icons I made for the Enforcer, Big Earner, and Short Circuit? There's no reason listed on their image pages. RagnarHomsar 07:25, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

Because the Shugo team is working on them. When the entire pack is done, they will be uploaded. – Smashman (talk) 07:53, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

Item icons

Hey Smashman. I said to a couple of editors that it's OK for them to upload temporary new item icons just for the duration of the time it takes to for the new set to be released by Shugo. They'll be overwritten by the perfectly accurate and high quality Shugo ones once they are out of course. -- Pilk (talk) 22:23, 28 August 2011 (PDT)

Font

Hello, thanks for changing the font ! However we prefer the "JhengHei" font, so I went to the template and changed it. Thanks again~ ~www~ 09:52, 15 August 2012 (PDT)

Well you asked for it unbolded, so I did so. But you fixed it for yourselves, so it's all good. :) – Smashman (talk) 09:54, 15 August 2012 (PDT)
Yeah, unbolded them was better. Then I remembered that many people think that "PMingLiU" is kind of...ugly lol, so I decided to change it,too. Took me some time to find out the code of JhengHei :) ~www~ 03:02, 15 August 2012 (PDT)

RE: Regarding sound clip uploads

Please remember to utilise a license and place the relevant categories upon the page when uploading. Thank you. – Smashman (talk) 16:18, 22 May 2013 (PDT)

Categories

It's always great to give the ol' category architecture a refurbishing, but be sure that any categories you create are themselves in a category! Otherwise, how can we ever find them? Note: The root category is Category:Team Fortress Wiki. Darkid (talk|contribs) 10:18, 12 June 2013 (PDT)

Pictogram tick.png Done Thought I had! – Smashman (talk) 16:22, 12 June 2013 (PDT)
Unless Category:Promotional includes items outside of TF2, shouldn't it go in the TFW category rather than Main? As far as I can tell, Main is for higher level things (Multimedia, Different games, PS3, etc). I know it's not perfect right now, and I think I shall move a few of these categories down into TFW. Darkid (Talk|Contribs) 18:57, 21 June 2013 (PDT)

BASEPAGENAME vs BASEPAGENAMEE

I assumed this was a spelling mistake, as BASEPAGENAMEE malfunctions with names including periods, such as "Sniper vs. Spy Update". (I also tend to prefer spaces over underscores, which may have effected this). However, it is otherwise a completely valid solution. If you do find a way of fixing the period problem, please tell me as I'd love to know. Darkid (Talk|Contribs) 18:53, 21 June 2013 (PDT)

There is no problem with dots at all. Notice the perfectly fine Grodborts and MvM pages. Category:ERROR is simply slow to update. Notice how the category is not upon the page in question.Smashman (talk) 19:09, 21 June 2013 (PDT)
Hmm it appears that it is upon the page. I can guarantee that is not the dot, however. I will look into this tomorrow. Please leave it for now. Thank you. – Smashman (talk) 19:14, 21 June 2013 (PDT)

How do I show Unusual Effects when creating an image of an example

I am not denying that the line does sound like Nolan, but I am merely presenting the facts that I was given. If you receive official confirmation otherwise, there's no issue with the fact being replaced upon the page, but at the moment it's conjecture and best left off of the page. Thanks. – Smashman (talk) 14:50, 18 June 2014 (PDT)
