Canaveral is a community-created Control Point map added in the Summer 2024 Update. It takes place on a rocket launch site on Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA[1], with both teams fighting over control of the rocket.

Canaveral was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Locations

Control point 1 & 5

  • First Spawn: The initial spawn is located directly behind the point and consists of a room with an exit to the right/left, an exit in the middle, and a ramp leading to an exit on the left/right.
  • Final/First Point: The Final/First Point consists of a single large room with 3 levels. The bottom level has two exits, the one on the left/right leads to the Stairwell, while the other leads to the Warehouse and the Second/Fourth Point. The middle level contains the point, the Window Room, and the First Spawn. The top level consists of a walkway to the Control Room which leads to the Stairwell.
  • Stairwell: The Stairwell consists of three flights of stairs, with the Control Room at the top. The Stairwell leads to the bottom level of the Final/First Point, as well as to the Window Room, and to the Warehouse.
  • Control Room: The Control Room is a room at the very top just before the Final/First Points, it has a walkway leading to one of the First Spawn exits, and has two very large one-way windows (only transparent to those inside the room).
  • Window Room: The Window Room is located on the other side of the Stairwell, opposite the Control Room. It overlooks the Final/First Point and has a path leading to one of the First Spawn's exit. One of the windows is broken, allowing players to drop down onto the area of the point.

Control point 2 & 4

  • Warehouse: The Warehouse is the section of the base which separates the Final/First Point from the Second/Fourth Point. It has 2 entrances: one from the Stairwell and one from the lower level of the Final/First Point. The side facing the Second/Fourth Point has two openings: the first exit having direct line of sight into the window entrance to the Storage Shack. The other exit has leads to an open area with a single fence to give cover from a path from the Middle and Storage Shack. Found inside the Warehouse are several rocket exhausts.
  • Second/Fourth Point: The Second/Fourth Point is located on the outside, right in front of the Second Spawn. The Second/Fourth Points are separated from the middle by the Storage Shack.
  • Storage Shack: The Storage Shack is the building in between the middle and the previous/following point. It has three doorways and an open window which serve as passages through it. Found inside it is a medium health pack and a large ammo pack.

Control point 3

  • Middle Point: The central point is found in a semi-open area in between each team's Storage Shack. The area is dominated by a huge rocket, mounted atop an intricate service structure that spans the width of the map. The central control point is on a platform below the tower holding the rocket. Further below the control point is a pool of deep water and medium health pack on a sunken wooden boat at the bottom. Directly above the control point is the Third Spawn. It has no resupply cabinet and becomes the active spawn for whichever team has captured the enemy's second control point. On the opposite side from the rocket is medium health kit and medium ammo pack. It is hidden from the rest of the area by two large metal sheets, with a pathway to the control point.

Bugs

  • When looking at the rocket from the first spawn, jumping high enough shows the rest of the map has not rendered.[2]

Trivia

  • The world map on RED's final point has 6 circles, each belonging to a creator of the map and their approximate location.[3]
  • In BLU spawn, a whiteboard with the phrase "rhamkin wuz here" written in the bottom right corner can be found. This refers to another map creator, Rhamkin.
  • On BLU's last point, another whiteboard can be found that has "Breadspace(sic) was an inside job" and "hl3.exe", referencing Half-Life 3, written on it.
  • In each team's First Spawn is a projector that repeatedly displays a set of three slides, showcasing a plan for preparing the rocket launch. The final slide is dedicated to honoring the fallen astronaut, Poopy Joe.
