Duckstreak Clarification

Perhaps it would be a good idea to clarify that the Duckstreak appears to track duck-related events (generated? collected? both?), especially since it is compared to killstreaks so much in the article.

Discontinued date?

Should we add the fact that ducks do not drop anymore to this? M15513c0mm4nd (talk) 19:10, 8 January 2015 (PST)

Quacks marked for deletion

I noticed a couple days back that the File:Bumper_car_quack#.wav files had been marked for deletion. I had also recently realized that the Duck Journal still worked as a noise maker. So, I figured the noise maker function could be documented like the regular noise makers. I have done a little testing; I know that there are several quack sounds played by the Duck Journal and I know that some of the File:Bumper_car_quack#.wav files sound familiar, but what I can’t say for absolute certain is whether the present set of quack files is complete or if they really are the sounds played by the Duck Journal. I would appreciate help on that because I have no expectation of soon setting up to access game files. If the present list of quacks is either incomplete or incorrect, please consider the present list as a place holder for the complete correct list. Mikado282 (talk) 21:21, 23 April 2015 (PDT)

Obtaining the stats without owning the Duck Journal or those stats are carried over after trading?

Well, after I did an undo on my edit, I had this in mind. I've put this phrase on the article "Those categories stats are increased even if the player does not own the Duck Journal, however, the only way to view them is by owning at least one.", but then I thought, what if those stats are carried over the primary owner of the Duck Journal and the other ones that had before me? I did not buy my Duck Journal direct from the store, I traded it, and there were stats around on it. I suppose those are from the previous owners or those are my OWN stats that I obtained BEFORE getting the Duck Journal? If those are my own stats, that means the duck stats are stored without the Duck Journal? IMO, Duck Journal is one of those items that are interesting because Valve is combining functions developed for other types of items. Was the Level counter zeroed? If I understand correctly, strange leveling is zeroed when a strange item is traded. I could also understand that it might be showing your duck pickups during the event, which might have been recorded for everyone even if they had no D.J.. One could find out by making another careful trade of a leveled Duck Journal, observing the stats and strange leveling before and after. Or simply, owning two Duck Journals and check if the stats are EXACTLY the same. If they're, then the stats are stored before you own the Duck Journal. User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 22:29, 23 April 2015 (PDT)
I confirmed with "Rikka's Own Duck" (sorry), and both ducks (mine and her) had the exact same stats. Re-added to the page, if anyone thinks it needs to be re-written, go ahead. Still the top of my to do list. Was sick this week. Was trying to play with this some today. Will be in KCMO all (looong) day tomorrow, though. Mikado282 (talk) 19:56, 2 May 2015 (PDT)

Duck Season, Fire?

In reference to the above, I noticed that I dropped some "out-of-season" ducks today. This is not really the same drop as the event drops. I noticed today that when performing a taunt with the Duck Journal equipped, I would also quack and drop one duck. The drop seems to emanate from the item? I observed this with a few different Scout and Soldier taunts (including basic weapons taunts), on a few different maps. The one short attempt with Heavy did not drop a duck, but in this case it could very well be the map or server. I haven't really had the chance to do much testing. Hadn't really noticed this before, might be the Full Moon, might just have missed it. Needs more testing to characterize. Mikado282 (talk) 20:14, 2 May 2015 (PDT)

OK, this may just be a server or custom map thing, wasn't happenning on a Valve server, sorry for the distraction, got to be careful about that. Mikado282 (talk) 20:48, 2 May 2015 (PDT)
It's possible to enable EoTL event on console, which makes Ducks to spawn. The command line is "tf_holiday (number)", I don't know the number, though. User Gabrielwoj Signature 1.pngUser Gabrielwoj Signature 2.png - User Gabrielwoj Signature 3.png 22:28, 2 May 2015 (PDT)
Thanks for the tip, that might help on another matter. It might not be EotL, some without DJ were dropping ducks some were not.. only one would drop. and only mine I could see exploding for 40HP and Kickback. But that site also uses the bottle reskin for grenades. oh, well I have called facepalm on me. Mikado282 (talk) 11:30, 4 May 2015 (PDT)

Improve organization and add detail. Generally, existing content was reused, but move to support adding detail and clarification.

Move descriptions of Duck XP up so it may lead all references to it. The ordering of subjects now also follows the natural ordering of stats seen on the Duck Journal when viewed in the Backpack

I kept the Rank table at the end of Description to keep it from breaking up the flow of text.

Duckstreaks: I can’t remember, did the Duckstreak counter only count drops from kills or did it count the other duck points as well?

Duck Power: I can’t remember, does a greater Duck Power also increase the number of Ducks dropped when the owning play is killed?

And fixed a few typos. Mikado282 (talk) 18:59, 10 May 2015 (PDT)

Expired Functions

As far as I can tell a lot of the Duck Journal’s features don’t work anymore and the event is never going to happen again. Should this article be updated to reflect that (certain parts of sentences made past tense, “Duck Journal Events” being made singular, etc.)? Da703337 (talk) 06:55, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

The Duck Journal events are listed as a holiday, which means it can be turned on at any time. To avoid speculation the page is fine as-is.

Bugs Mentioned

Had to suggest adding bugs that currently exist with this item. As of now I only know one. Im surprised none of yall who own this item noticed when you die you can still play the quack noises (however only YOU can hear it) KingK (talk) 12:36, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

I didn't think it was a bug. My friends can also hear it and we always quack back. Most normal players don't notice it to make remarks on it. Jh34ghu43gu (talk) 12:44, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
Remember to include a video of the bug happening.
