Talk:Meal Dealer
Current paint gallery images are missing the strap across the scouts chest, currently trying to fix those. --Lexzach (talk) 17:29, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Dogtags
"It also hides his dogtags.", yet the main infobox image shows them. I know, nitpicking. But it caught my eye. // Jan (talk) 09:11, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
Regarding the whole False trivia and Square being an unreliable source for trivia:
I saw square (item creator) was blacklisted as "unreliable" and dug around, as well as asked him about it, and I think there's just been a misunderstanding about which part was inspired/based on what.
From what I've understood, the NAME is based on the Tesco £3 Meal Deal, but the DESIGN was based on a guy working at Chipotle. So both things are true.
If that isn't the actual issue it might be a misunderstanding of what Square meant when he said "... I posted it in the comments to make it cannon" as meaning he made it up after the fact or something, when it seems to me that he just wanted to put the word out officially (thus making it cannon) in a place that's easy for the wiki to reference, specifically because it kept being removed due to lack of source despite being true.
I don't have any opinion on whether or not the actual trivia is interesting enough to keep, but I think the blacklist is uncalled for at the very least.

- The reason they were blacklisted is because 'to make it canon' implies it wasn't before, but they simply saw the connection being made and decided that it was the intended reference. I have nothing against Square personally, I don't even know them (unlike what they seem to think, based on comments in the Emporium Discord server), but from how they are currently speaking about this whole thing (immediately resorting to calling it a power trip and twisting it as us thinking we know more about the cosmetic item than the creator) I'm not sure the attempt at clearing it up is a genuine one.

- I think you're totally out of line in this case. Misinterpreting a single line from the comment doesn't invalidate the trivia. Completely ridiculous to blacklist Square for this. He didn't do anything wrong. Just because you misunderstood his comment about cannon doesn't mean he should get blacklisted. What do you want him to do? Send you a formally worded apology? I think it's wild to blacklist a creator over a minor misunderstanding. He has the right to be frustrated about it since he didn't say or do anything to warrant the punishment. Mediarch

- That's fine to think, but you're wrong and it's not something I'm willing to discuss with someone actively participating in the public ridiculing that followed.

- I don't know what kind of drama I stirred up here, I just saw what looked like a simple misunderstanding and tried to get it cleared up. To me it just seemed like the "make it cannon" comment was imprecise due to happening in the middle of what looked like causal conversation. Kind of a flimsy reason to blacklist someone I thought. Might as well toss out all trivia if we're that worried that every source might be invalidated at any time with an offhanded mention in a random chatroom. A solution that'd cause editors less of a headache would probably be to just list any trivia about references with less certain language even if confirmed. "X may be a reference to Y" and so on. That said, there seems to be something else going on between folks here and I'm not looking to get involved, so I'll leave it there.

- As the blacklist page says, providing a false citation results in being blacklisted from being considered a trustworthy source. If we allowed one and said 'don't do this again', it just means they do it again but won't tell anyone. You didn't stir up drama, it was all happening in the TF2 Emporium Discord server and as far as I know you weren't involved (nor did I mean anything to you personally, sorry if it came off like that). If it was a misunderstanding, then it can be settled through just letting us know, but that's not what the user chose to do. The way it was handled by them is more stirring up drama rather than genuinely making an attempt at resolving it. Trivia won't be removed from an off-hand comment, but if the comment states that it was intentionally false to troll or mess with people then it will be (rightfully) removed. In this case, those messages were more than enough to give off that impression.
