[hide]Simplifying the templates
The "Used by", "Type", "Released", and "Notes" columns in the templates all have information that can be found in the articles for the items. The "Notes" column is specially problematic, as community events that grant unique rewards still happen, making it so translations need to be constantly added - the result is a lot of text in English in this article's translations.
I suggest we apply the same format used in the List of [class] cosmetics pages - not only it would remove the need for constant updates, it would also shorten the page's length a lot. - BrazilianNut (talk) 04:32, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- I think this should only be done for medals, personally, maybe make a separate charity, tournament, and event participation section so they're all still grouped together.

NECA Action Figures
Currently, in the "Active" section of the promotional item list, it is stated in that the three NECA Action Figures "...has not been released by NECA or Valve.".
Moreover, I have not found any proof that these action figures were even announced or in production.
I vote for this section to be removed altogether; first because these figures were not even released, no need to have them in the "Active" section. Secondly, there is no proof that they are in production in the first place (Unless there is and I missed something).
As always, I'd love to hear your opinion in the matter.

- This is a somewhat unique situation. It's true that NECA hasn't announced production of the BLU Series 4 figures, as far as I am aware. But since they are documented in the item schema, and are definitely the intended promotional items for the remaining NECA figures, I don't think they should be removed from the page entirely; I would recommend moving them to an "unreleased items" section, below the expired ones, the same way I handled tournament medals that were defined in the schema, but went unused, as their events passed without a way to obtain them. —

I support moving them to an "Unreleased" section as well. - BrazilianNut (talk) 11:51, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

Some Total War items are still obtainable
Some of the promotional items from Total War Franchise like Genuine Freedom Staff, Genuine King of Scotland Cape, Genuine Stovepipe Sniper Shako, Genuine Foppish Physician, Genuine Distinguished Rogue, Genuine Menpo and Genuine K-9 Mane are still obtainable for activating Retail Total War keys, like Total War Master Collection. BioShock Infinite - Season Pass Promotional Items are still obtainable
After purchasing the Bioshock Infinite + Season Pass bundle recently on Steam I have received the promotional items associated with the Season Pass. Strangely I didn't receive any promotional items for Bioshock Infinite itself however, and I can't confirm whether buying the season pass alone would grant these items. Image. - Would you be able to provide us with the image of the products being bought on these dates?

Skullgirls items
https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=144616840
There was a set of items made for Skullgirls but it didn't ever get added. I need to do some more digging and iron out the details but from what I've read seems like valve and Skullgirls had an agreement to do the promo but valve ended up reneging on the deal. Would it be worth mentioning under unreleased at the bottom? Mediarch ♥ Talk ♥ My Edits 15:00, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. On the one hand, it is similar to the WETA Workshop items, but on the other the Workshop does say it needed votes so it likely just didn't show enough community interest. It seems like it's worth a mention, but it would have to specify (with an appropriate source) what exactly happened.

- It seems the only source is regarding the Leviathan cosmetic, meanwhile there's no confirmation on the other items, despite that every single one of the uploaded items on the Workshop have the same description. I'm not sure if the others would also be accepted to be in-game, and I'm also not sure in case these promos items were to be accepted, all of them would get in, it seems a lot of items.

- I can help you out there a little bit: the blog post that Lab Zero posted back then said that "any items selected" would be Genuine quality items for preorders. The blog post was written May 11th, 2013, and the game released on August 22nd of that year. It's likely improbable that we'll get to know exactly what happened to make the items a no-show, given that it seems unlikely we'll get to be privy to any exact numbers they might have needed to hit, or any real terms of that agreement -- but we know that an agreement was tentatively considered, after the visible debacle with the Leviathan Indiegogo hat offer, and its eventual removal. As personal speculation, I doubt the idea that none of the items received enough traction to be considered for use in-game, but that's neither here nor there.
- It is also briefly worth mentioning that in the intervening time between Lab Zero's blog post and Skullgirls' release, Valve introduced the Gold Star certification policy for items in the Steam Workshop, and none of the Skullgirls items were retroactively updated to include Gold Star certification. That too, may have been an issue with them; again, we cannot know for sure, I'm afraid. —
