"Have vintage" icon?

Just a suggestion. Stripedy 23:03, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

New Steam Web API's

With the new steam web API's, would it be possible to have these checklists automagically update themselves by a user just inputting their steam ID. For example, {{Template:User_weapon_checklist|userid=rjackson}} I'm reading into the new API's now and seeing what I can come up with. If anything worthy of your attention I'll comment here. --RJackson 02:16, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Not without a MediaWiki extension that can interpret XML, JSON or VDF. This has been something we've looked at in the past, it may just be possible to do so now. I will see if I can get make some progress. -- Pilk (talk) 02:31, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Out of boredum I'm attempting to create a PHP script (i believe mediawiki extensions can be done in PHP) that parses an XML from the Web API and turn it into the Wiki code for this template. By wiki code, I mean output like this: {{Template:User_weapon_checklist | pain train=yes | homewrecker=yes | dalokohs=no }}--RJackson 03:53, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

I have done it. The script I have is in 2 files. 1 file (allweapons.php) defines the items and their ID, the 2nd file (parsexml.php) parses the XML and turns it into Template:User_weapon_checklist code. I hope this helps toward my original suggestion of an automagically updating weapon checklist.
Linked to pastebin because using the code tags eliminates the line breaks.

This effort is probably not necessary. I'm looking at getting an extension installed (such as this) that can do this easily. The advantage of an extension is that it's maintained, and its features are quite robust and versatile. -- Pilk (talk) 05:10, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Time to throw in the new weapons!

I would've done it myself, but all this protection! Eet burns!--RJackson 23:47, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I was going to do that, too. Damn protection. AbeX300 04:25, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion for Icons

There are three icon suggestions (you know, with the Have, Not Have, Want, and Had):

-Don't Want: Red Subtraction Icon, for items that you hate so much that you wish you won't get it.

-Had, But Want It Back: Not sure about what it should look like, but it's when you crafted your item, but you want it back. Mainly from the Golden Wrench fest. :P

-Have Duplicates: Two Checkmarks, indicating that you have a duplicate of the item you already own.

Golden wrench

While I'd rather not see the golden wrench removed from this template, is there still a way to have it only show the picture and obtainment status icon if it has been specified? Basicaly, since it can safely be assumed that 99.99% of people using this box never owned one, we could have it hidden from the template by default, only appearing if it has been specificaly mention in the code. Thoughts?--Piemanmoo 06:28, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

There's no easy solution, given that there will be equal demand from users wanting to mark the Golden Wrench as 'Wanted' and a few cases of 'Previously Owned'. For now, how about we address the fact that the template is using the wrong image? Somebody with the necessary editing privileges needs to change its icon to File:Backpack Golden Wrench.png. Mainman (Talk) 18:17, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
That is not incorrect, as that is the image shown in the backpack, I'll change it though to the more obvious image. --Firestorm 18:20, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Polycount items

Make them no for now...  – Smashman (talk) 14:19, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Incorrect Link

Under the Sydney Sleeper, the image is linking to "Dydney Sleeper". I've redirected the Dydney Sleeper page in the meantime, but can some friendly mod fix the issue thanks? I noticed it because something like 63 pages had linked to "Dydney Sleeper". Cloventt 05:09, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Rocket Jumper

Maybe add this "weapon" to the Soldier line? DrAkcel 11:32, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Yeah. Shall do.  – Smashman (talk) 11:40, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Maybe this would be helpful?

HHHH & Sticky Jumper

Could we get the axe and the sticky jumper added to this template please? --Org 14:49, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Organization?

The weapons checklist used to be organized in the order of Primary, Secondary, Tertiary (Melee). But now it seems kinda jumbled around. Since I can't edit it so it's actually nice and neat, can we get some sweeping in here? Or is this something that no one cares about? :c --Vaught 23:15, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Poker Night

I'm surprised these are not added yet?

@ all of the above

I'll rewrite these checklist templates more or less from scratch. I'll make them item names make more sense (so dalokohs bar instead of just dalokohs, etc). If there's any feature requests please put them here, though I'll focus mainly on making the new version analogous to this one. -- Pilk (talk) 12:59, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I created a Custom Checklist on my user page that includes both Weapons and Hats / Misc Items in the same checklist. I prefer the combined checklist instead of using 2 template versions. Some might like the idea? Nooch 13:29, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
User:Pilk/New_checklist is what I have so far. Any suggestions before I continue with the other classes? Oh and I added the ability to add a count of how many items you have, it will work like | mad milk = 4 which produces Have 4 × 4. -- Pilk (talk) 13:49, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
I think some users wanted the ability to flag vintage? Or at the very least set the quality on the items. The count part is a nice feature though, and I like the new design Mr. Pilk. --Org 17:52, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Claidheamh Mòr

The Claidheamh Mòr is misspelled when attempting to add the weapon to a users' checklist. It is currently width="100px" valign="top" | {{P|{{{claidheamohmor|{{{all|yes}}}}}}}} <br> [[Claidheamh Mòr]] and should be changed to width="100px" valign="top" | {{P|{{{claidheamh mor|{{{all|yes}}}}}}}} <br> [[Claidheamh Mòr]] . Strange Weapons

Should we add Strange Weapons to this list (and create a template for them to change the name accordingly based on rank), or leave them out since they're variants of existing weapons without articles of their own? --ButteredToast 20:08, 27 June 2011 (PDT)

I think a separate table/template would be better if we're going to add rank, # of kills, et cetera Denmax 01:57, 28 June 2011 (PDT)
After giving it some thought, I don't see where it currently makes sense to add Strange weapons; "Vintage" and "Genuine" aren't specified on the checklist either at this point, so doing it for that particular subset of weapons doesn't seem logical at this point. -ButteredToast 04:50, 5 July 2011 (PDT)

Set default "Have" status to No?

With the influx of new TF2 players since the game has become free, I don't think it's safe to assume that everyone has all of the weapons (even from the first class updates). Why not change the default "Have" status on the User Weapon Checklist to "Don't Have" since the hat checklist already follows that standard anyway? It seems like it would be more effort for the new players to mark what they don't have rather than what they do have. -ButteredToast 18:53, 28 June 2011 (PDT)

Scout melee messed up

Scout's melee weapons have incorrect thumbnails/names at the end of the Scout wep list. Could someone fix this, im not very good at this code-related stuff... --Neg 05:16, 30 June 2012 (PDT)
