The Firefly trivia is completely speculation, not relevant, and should be removed. The trivia was originally added in 2010, then was removed for being speculation. It was then readded and removed multiple times over the years once again for being speculation. It was finally added back to the page in 2013 with 0 evidence to back it up and has just stuck around without anyone removing it. There's no proof that it's a direct reference and since it's an item made by Valve it's unlikely there would ever be any confirmation of it being a reference if that was the case. The hat worn in Firefly is a common style of hat and looks quite different from the Tough Guy's Toque. The design and color pattern is totally different (top part is one solid color instead of striped, has a distinct band section around the "brow" area instead of the hat being one solid piece, has strings on the earflaps while the Tough Guy's Toque doesn't). The trivia isn't relevant to the Tough Guy's Toque as it's just saying that another character happened to wear a toque one time which doesn't count as trivia. The trivia should be removed.

I don't see much reason to keep it, personally. | s | GrampaSwood

Agree with GrampaSwood. - BrazilianNut (talk) 19:26, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
I had thought that we were going to change trivia policy to where if an item was over 10 years old, or if the creator(s) of the item were MIA/inactive, then speculative trivia would be fair game so long as it makes enough sense. I could be wrong, I'm not going to argue that we should keep the trivia but I did want to point that out.
The Trivia policy is already in place, but if we all agree that an unconfirmed trivia doesn't seem like it's accurate then we can remove it through consensus too. | s | GrampaSwood
