Hello, Regal!

Welcome to the Official Team Fortress Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User KingK to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:KingK/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress Wiki!

Trivia and links

Hello, all trivia requires a source from the item creator. So please do not add trivia about an item unless it is properly sourced. Also when linking to pages from the Wiki you don't need to have the full url. For example you could just have the link be [[Rocket Launcher]] instead of using [https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Rocket_Launcher Rocket Launcher]. Oh okay, thanks Mediarch^^ KingK (talk) 14:54, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Show preview

Pictogram info.png Please make use of the Show preview button. It gives you a preview of the edit you are making, allowing you to perfect your changes before you save the page. You can edit the whole article by clicking the edit button at the top of the page, which is preferable to editing multiple sections consecutively.

Devilcross image

Hi there,

When uploading files, please remember to add the appropriate licenses and categories. If you struggle with adding either of these, try looking for similar files and see what they have added. For map images, you can simply type {{subst:Mapimg|Devilcross}} (replacing 'Devilcross' with the map's name) into the 'Summary' text box on the upload page and it will automatically add the appropriate license and categories. Please also see Help:Taking screenshots, as screenshots should be using the .png variant and not the jpg.

I see, thank you for the advice Regal (talk) 11:08, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

Condensing multiple edits into one

Howdy, so far you are doing a good job on the wiki; I especially appreciate your meticulousness when it comes to map pickups and hazards, something that is often forgotten.

However, I think that you have a tendency to over-edit tasks that can otherwise be done in a single edit. Your last string of seven or so edits on the environmental hazards page is a good example of this. You easily could have added those maps (outburst, slime, soul-mill, toxic and dynamite) to their specific hazards by simply editing the entire page at once instead of the specific hazard sections. Soul-mill in particular does not need three separate edits in order to add it to Pitfall, Skeleton and Health drain sections. You can see how I recently added multiple payload maps to cart explosion and pitfall sections in a single large edit.

If you are having trouble sifting through all the cluttered wiki formatting while editing entire the entire page, then press ctrl+f, type in the desired hazard and you will be immediately brought to the relevant section in the editing window. Hope this helps for the future. Have a nice day and enjoy your stay. Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 14:26, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21

I really appreciate the support. I apologize honestly if I messed up on that part, it's always so painful to scroll and read small texts in one huge page. Additionally, the reason I do these small edits is because I normally played the map once in private servers and immidietely edit to be the first to do so. (I'm quite a competitive and paranoid person). No defense to that though.

However thank you and GrampaSwood for guiding me here and there. I'll be sure to not mess up again. Regal (talk) 14:44, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

It is all ok. As long as you edit in good faith you are on the right track, even if you make mistakes. When it comes to paranoia, there are really only 10 or so active editors on the wiki, so chances are someone will rarely step on your toes (In my 5 years on the wiki, I can count on a single hand the amount of times I had an edit I was planning to do "stolen" from under my nose). Finally, whenever you are replying to someone, please add the : in front of your replies in other to form an indent. I already did it to your previous reply. It is to stylistically differentiate different people in a message chain.
Once again, welcome to the wiki. I am certain you will prove to be a valuable contributor. Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 15:17, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21

Thanks m8, I'll do my best. I just hope I make friends here tbh. (or nobody hates me) Regal (talk) 15:59, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

Redirects and Gargoyle images

Hi there,

Some of the requests for Gargoyle image specified they should be hosted under a new file name, not replace the old one and be moved. This was because they are used on Haunted Halloween Gift, which should retain the original gift images instead. Please reupload these under their old names.

Additionally, when you move files it is your responsibility to make sure the old file name is completely unused. Many of the Gargoyle images you moved were still in use in other places, but you replaced the redirect with {{delete}} already, causing many articles to break.

I apologize for that mistake, I'll reverse these changes. Thanks for the heads up^^ Regal (talk) 15:13, 19 October 2025 (UTC)

Summer article

The Summer article should have the cases and keys be split up into their own categories, keys are also classified as tools and should in the appropriate section.
