Sandman Wall glitch

I dont know if this has been posted before but i found this glitch in game. While using the sandmans baseball, run back and forth toward a wall hitting the ball. Make sure to go strait and to keep the ball going in a strait line towards the wall. It might take awhile but it should eventually "disapear". To see what actual happens do it to a glass wall and do it. What you'll see is that it goes strait threw the wall and still hurt the enemy. --Delterz 04:08, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

It's a known exploit, and documented here. ~ lhavelund (talkcontrib) 05:55, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I've actually done it before myself. Maybe Valve will patch it, maybe they won't. ~PeacekeeperRen 00:06, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
It's not really a significant issue so don't expect it to be fixed anytime soon. Misterslin 15:21, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Unofficial Community Content

I've noticed that nearly all of the unofficial community content (Mods, maps, etc.) are stubs, marked for cleanup, ect. Do we really need these? There is FPSbanana. That would clean up a LOT of the wiki. --Kurathedog 21:53, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

I think the general consensus is that we add pages for custom content if it is notable. That is, for example, if a map has been adopted in comp play, is featured on a bunch of servers, etc. ~ lhavelund (talkcontrib) 21:54, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
Instead of asking to delete them, why not contribute to them instead? That would be most helpful.--Focusknock s 21:57, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
I agree with lhavelund. Only notable content should be added to, anything irrelevant or not noteworthy should be marked for deletion. Cidem 06:46, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I too agree with IHavelund, there are so many maps that are not played or will ever have anything noteworthy to write about Z Overlord 02:41, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
I also agree. I think we should only include Stock maps or maps that are so frequently played that they are worth noting. An example that comes to mind was cp_freight before they made it an official map. Something of that level.Misterslin 15:22, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Polycount Pin List?

Since we already have lists for community weapons and self-made items, I think we should make a Polycount Pin list, and possibly include the links to the Polycount threads for each submission. Wowza 23:57, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Good idea (for what it's worth, Wowza has been helping me with some tables of content). We can also do Golden Wrench listings. ~ lhavelund (talkcontrib) 23:58, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
I agree, I like this idea myself. I think it would be interesting to see who has those items.~PeacekeeperRen 00:08, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

New facts. Seriously.

I've been staring at the same facts for quite a while. Let's get some new facts, and a new featured article. ~ lhavelund (talkcontrib) 14:31, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

I'm sort of new here, so I don't know this. Does this wiki have a monthly or weekly update for the facts or featured articles, or does it stay until changed by someone of higher power?~PeacekeeperRen 00:12, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
I think he may be referring to the "Featured Article" and the "Did you know?" sections on the main page. I agree someone should go in and change them on a regular basis. Misterslin 15:29, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
I always thought that the admins were the ones who regularly rotated the facts in and out. Usually I just add a fact to the page (after checking that it hasn't been repeated) and let others take care of changing the front page ones out. --LordKelvin 17:28, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Pictogram tick.png Done Rotated the facts. I'm not sure if we have a proper rotation system in-place, i.e. every month or so. I'll start a discussion about it and I invite you guys to join in here. -RJ 17:51, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Dunno where else to put this

On the left hand side, under the search tool, there are some links for Team Fortress Classic. Wouldn't it make more sense to link to Main Page (Classic) instead of team fortress classic wikia? Psychopath 23:04, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. I was thinking this very same thing last night while reviewing some TFC material. We should try to keep links to "in-house" material when the information is available - K-Mac 16:26, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Good point. -- En Ex (talk) 16:27, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Do we need an Arabic section of the wiki?

"Languages supported officially by the game are supported here. There are a few exceptions, however: Czech and Portuguese (Brazil) are supported by the Steam Translation Server, however, do not yet have TF2 localization files. Arabic has neither, however, will remain supported."

If Arabic has neither Steam Translation Server support, or sound/text support in TF2, this means that:

  • The amount of Arabic TF2 players who solely speak Arabic is very low, as Team Fortress 2 is geared towards the officially-supported languages.
  • The amount of people who are able to translate the English wiki into Arabic are not easily found.

And as a result, the Arabic wiki is one of the wikis most desperately in need of content. It is missing basic essential articles, such as class pages and weapons.

In any other situation I would suggest finding more contributors, but in Arabic's case I wonder if it's worth it. Who would the Arabic wiki be made for, the one (yes, only one contributor) person who is actively translating it?

Your insight would be appreciated. FlotsamX 23:57, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
