Well, I hope this is the right place to put community questions, most wikis do this, and I don't see any other place that would be designed to ask questions. I'd like to know the rationale behind having inter-language edits all in the same namespace (such as Heavy/ru). Would it not make more sense to have the Russian articles in a separate namespace (i.e. ru:Heavy). This would allow the inter-language links to be better described, allow users to ignore namespaces that aren't in a language that they know in RC and make the system smoother. On the old wiki we didn't have this capability, but we may be doing just this in no time at all. I have been considering it, I'll speak to Robin. -- Smashman... (ts) 00:43, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Good idea, but is that going to need some coding? Darkman 4 00:43, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Possibly for a bot move, you'd have to move all of */ru to ru:* for example. AWB should do the trick. RandomTime 00:46, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Usefulness

This page is given too high of a prominence on the wiki for the purpose it serves. Even since becoming official we don't have enough information that people need to be regularly updated on to form a news feed. Mostly this just serves as fluff, and as promotion for the links in the weblinks section. We need a much cleaner place that people can get the information they need on contributing and finding the information they want. seb's index comes to mind for the latter part. I imagine it would be somewhat like an extension to the front page. (This also makes me question about the value of the hundreds of links on the front page). Not sure if anything I just said actually forms a coherent idea, but what do you think? -- Pilk (talk) 12:00, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

I don't see it as really useful, many of the community sites have their own pages on the wiki, and the others are links to random sites for sprays and stuff... however, I don't think this page should disappear, it just needs to be reworked. -- Nineaxis User Nineaxis sig duck.png 02:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Links

The following is transcluded from the talk page for convenience.

Changes

  • Remove TF2Lobby (outdated and in general bad quality)
  • Direct Hit is European Based Delete it. Outdated
  • Add Saxton Hale facts
  • Remove community (its pretty much advertisement)
  • Add TF2 Romania to Languages
  • Change psychostats with Hlstatsx

-- Nightbox (t s) 16:51, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

  • Tf2Lobby is a often used site and should stay. Especially because the ETF2L Highlander League uses it. (And I know its only because you don't like the site)
  • -
  • I don't think we should add a fun-site. This page should help new players to quickly find TF2 news sources.
  • I don't know. But Fpsbanana should stay.
  • Yes.
  • Yes.
+ we should have little flags for the "Alternative language" websites.

  • Remove the Gamefaqs TF2 link (Mostly outdated)
  • Remove TF2Lobby (outdated and in general bad quality)
No way. It's still widely used.
  • Direct Hit is European Based Delete it. Outdated
Maybe put "no longer updating" after that one too?
  • Add Saxton Hale facts
I don't know. Maybe it could be added the Others category where it's kind of out of the way?
  • Remove community (its pretty much advertisement)
In my opinion they are the good kind of ads. New user comes here, checks the communities out, and just might join one.
  • Add TF2 Romania to Languages
Sure, why not. Also other language sites, like this Hungarian one (It's updated with news quite often, and has an active community).
  • Change psychostats with Hlstatsx
Absolutely. I haven't even heard of psychostats before.
Perhaps we should put more important links on the top in a separate category, and the others left like this below them?
--Underyx 19:13, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
HLstats is now gameme stats and is so widely used should be linked. id just re-layout the page in ranked order, valve links, valve blogged links, notable tf2 competitive links, podcasts, then the rest--Markd 13:45, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
  • Remove community (its pretty much advertisement)i second the motion Ares5566 02:41, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
  • I likes the community page, I think that it's very useful to those who don't know much about the TF2 community, or where to find mods, maps and skins. I definately thinnk it should be kept :) JoBrittain 21:04, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Polish Team Fortress Community Portal

Hey guys, could you update link to our site, we had to change our old domain :S(TeamFortress.pl), now you can reach us at TF2.com.pl

"TF2.com.pl, "Polish Team Fortress Community Portal"

Add tf2crafting.info ?

This site does some great stuff with the Steam API info to help you know which items to craft next from your backpack. Jddcef 15:04, 18 November 2011 (PST)

I would also appreciate that ;-) --King2500 10:59, 4 December 2011 (PST)

TF2Manual is dead

I suggest it's removal on the basis that the link leads absolutely nowhere. Sven 23:23, 6 January 2012 (PST)

Game developers

I think it would be interesting to add articles for the game developers, voice actors, and other people who are connected to Team Fortress 2. The Half-Life wiki does this, and I think it's very interesting to read more about the people we hear so much about. Of course, these pages would need to be more strictly looked at because the sources need to be there. Thoughts? --Tinker 22:03, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

  • I also believe this is a very good idea, it would give developers some rest from making appointments with the voice actors, game developers, and make room for more organization. The page can provide some good utility for when someone has a good idea and wants to get it out quick to everyone that partakes in Team Fortress 2. --Faith 19:50, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
  • I think its a good idea too --Heroic Ginster 14:12, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
