Re: Can you give some tips on how to make good edits?

Well, trivia edits are pretty difficult to make. They seem easy as first, but yeah. If you wanna learn about those specifically, the trivia style guide has your answer. Give it a good read before adding trivia in the future. Is there anything you wanna know specifically? --SilverHammer 19:20, 18 August 2011 (PDT)

Well, I just want to know how i could find a way to make good edits that can connect to the item in-game, and in real life. I've done that before, and with not much success. Also, have you ever had any edits get removed? BaconIsTasty 19:48, 18 August 2011 (PDT)

Not exactly sure, what you mean by "connect to the item in-game, and in real life." Elaborate a bit, if you don't mind? And of course I've had some edits remove, just about everyone has at some point. --SilverHammer 19:54, 18 August 2011 (PDT)
Oh, and you don't have to let me know that you responded here on my talk. Trust me, I'm checking. :3 --SilverHammer 19:54, 18 August 2011 (PDT)
LOL, you're "checking" :3. Anyways, what i meant by "connect to the item in-game, and in real life" was that i wanted to make trivia for the specific item that could connect to something in real life, or in the game (ex. "The snub-nosed revolver were used by mobsters and police as a easily conceable weapon.", refering to the enforcer). That's kinda what i was getting at for something i could use help with. Speaking of which, i could actually edit that into the enforcer trivia, since it does have a connection between the game(mobster monday items) and real life (mobsters using the weapon). INSPIRATION! *sits down and eats a bagel* BaconIsTasty 20:02, 18 August 2011 (PDT)
Ah. Well, not every item has trivia. It's not a bad thing by any means. Forcing whatever trivia you can think of on to an article can result in this. Mind the style guide when you're thinking of trivia. If you can't come up with anything, so be it. The reason that Enforcer trivia doesn't fly is because, well, it's "speculation". Sure, some mobsters might have used it. So have thousands of other individuals. Probably dozens of groups and organizations. There's no way to say for sure. --SilverHammer 20:06, 18 August 2011 (PDT)
HOLY CRAP TF2 WIKI IS FULL OF TRIVIA. Anyways, yes, you do have a point with the fact that not every item needs trivia and doesn't need to be forced. However, it is true trivia. I did my research before hand to confirm it, and i can say that it is true. But, if you must, you may delete the edit. That's a fact of life here on the TF wiki. I strongly advise you read the style guide in deeper detail. It'll probably do a better job of explaining why it doesn't work. I also think you should join us on the IRC. c: --SilverHammer 20:16, 18 August 2011 (PDT)
Thank you for the words of wisdom, Silverhammer. AND I SHALL. BaconIsTasty 20:40, 18 August 2011 (PDT)
