This is a proposed style guideline for Community Websites. Please see the talk page for discussion.

Notability

There are many websites and resources available online that relate to Team Fortress 2. Obviously, not all of these sites can be mentioned on the Wiki. Sites that have articles about them should meet reasonable quality and notability standards set by the Wiki.

Judging Notability

Notability of a website is judged on a set criteria listed below. Note: these are just guidelines. Final approval is based on user consensus, with the final decision being made by the Wiki staff.

  • Must be a easy to use and well designed website.
  • Mention on the Team Fortress 2 Official Blog. (Not necessarily required for a website to be considered.)
  • Little to no advertisements on website. Absolutely no malware or content warnings.
  • No questionable (NSFW) content.
  • Moderate to high site traffic.

Conflict of Interest

Identifying a Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest occurs when a user edits an article for any other reason than to improve the quality of the Wiki's content. Typically users with conflicts of interest are directly affiliated with the topic of an article, or are in direct communication with someone who is.

Declaring an Interest

In order to avoid misunderstandings and improve communication with the Wiki, many users have declared an interest in websites that they are directly involved with. If you would like to declare your interest in a page, you can start by stating your involvement with the website on your user page. You may also wish to leave a note to the same effect on the talk page of the article.

Suggesting Content

It is recommended that users with a Conflict of Interest remain actively involved in their site's article. However, directly adding or removing content could disrupt the neutrality of an article. We suggest that users that find themselves in this situation use the Talk page to suggest content to be added or removed.

If you believe that your website meets the notability guidelines, but is not currently represented on this Wiki, please suggest creation of a new page on The IRC channel, or any Staff Member's talk page.

Edit Wars

Edit Wars occur when a user or group of users attempt to use brute force to return an article to a desired state. This creates many problems for Wiki users and staff members, and creates an antagonistic tone on the Wiki. Violators will be warned to stop, and if they do not comply, it will likely result in a ban from the Wiki.

Reminders

  • Content on this Wiki is permanent. Removing content from a page does not delete it. Conversely, adding content does not guarantee that it will remain in the article.
  • Owners or representatives of websites do not have rights to content entered by themselves or by other users on this Wiki.
  • Users will always be warned about their behavior before any action is taken by the staff to remove privileges from their account.
