Beginnings is an annual jump community showcase event hosted by TF2RJWeekly. The event is focused around both trickjumping and speedrunning, with prizes being handed out each event. For Beginnings 5, tournament medals were given out to first, second, and third places - as well as medals being given to helpers and donators.[1]

Beginnings 2013

The first event, in 2013, was a six-week long speedrunning event which had a stage each week featuring a jump map for soldiers and demomen to speedrun, which gave a total of 12 new jump maps.[2]


Stage One: jump_orbital by Hajnal (Soldier), jump_amazon by Obsidiian (Demoman)[3]

Stage Two: jump_void by Rob123 (Soldier), jump_grimace by Stimpack (Demoman)[4]

Stage Three: jump_typh by PowerJohn (Soldier), jump_zero by Drexen (Demoman)[5]

Stage Four: jump_steel by Ancient Grandpa (Soldier), jump_remember by Afterglow (Demoman)[6]

Stage Five: jump_skylight by Stimpiack (Soldier), jump_lanc by Torii (Demoman)[7]

Stage Six: jump_ultra by Shunix (Soldier), jump_tesseract by X_DIAS (Demoman)[8]

Beginnings 2

The second event, which started on November 30th 2014, introduced trickjumping to the competition, as well as releasing 6 new jump_maps for each class, ranging from easy to hard.[9] Instead of being released weekly, they were all released at the same time.[10]

Easy Maps: jump_elephant by Oatmeal (Soldier)[11], jump_crypt by Sere and Electro (Demoman)[12]

Medium Maps: jump_above by sitood (Soldier)[13], jump_internal by sitood and Splash4Damage (Demoman)[14]

Hard Maps: jump_apex by obsidiian (Soldier)[15], jump_isak by Brock (Demoman)[16]

Beginnings 3

In the third event, Beginnings returned to the weekly map release tradition, but released a map for both classes every week starting on January 17th 2016.[17]

Stage One: jump_beyond by Sitood (Soldier), jump_prism by Kendrick (Demoman)[18]

Stage Two: jump_oretachi by Kendrick (Soldier), jump_illusion_rc2 by Superchuck and Oatmeal (Demoman)[19]

Stage Three: jump_negative_b5 by Kendrick and Tusic76 (Soldier), jump_arugula by Torii (Demoman)[20]

Beginnings 4

Beginnings 4 kept to the Beginnings 3 formula and hosted a three-week competition with 2 maps each week, starting on January 7th 2017.[21]

Stage One: jump_canyon by Superchuck and Pants (Soldier), jump_shelter by Sitood (Demoman)[22]

Stage Two: jump_yona by Toss (Soldier), jump_compound by Superchuck (Demoman)[23]

Stage Three: jump_noire by Kendrick and Spoc13 (Soldier), jump_neptune by Mohr (Demoman)[24]

Beginnings 5

The fifth event, Beginnings 5, started on June 9th, 2018 and released 7 new jump maps. For the first time, speedruns done on the Tempus Network speedrunning servers could be submitted. This was the first event to have in-game medals given out for the event.[25] As well as this, a live race on June 23rd on the map jump_elite (by False_) which had a course for soldier and demoman.[26]

Stage One: jump_serenity by 200 and sitood (Soldier)[27], jump_lithium by 879m (Demoman)[28]

Stage Two: jump_obelisk by Pants (Soldier)[29], jump_cavern by Superchuck (Demoman)[30]

Stage Three: jump_nebuchadnezzar by Scotch and toss (Soldier)[31], jump_psionic by RBT (Demoman)[32]

Beginnings 6

The sixth event, originally slated to start on Christmas Day, was postphoned until January 1st until complaints arised on the jump.tf forums that was the timing was bad as people wanted to spend the holidays with their families.[33]

Stage Two: jump_bromelia by Donuttt and Shunix (Soldier)[36], jump_luminous by Scotch (Demoman)[37]

Stage Three: jump_orestes by Shunix (Soldier)[38], jump_sylvan by False_ (Demoman)[39]
