I think if this page is intended for Community Medals, even those obtainable through competitive play, such as Australian Hightower Highjinx, should be included. :: When I made the distinction between the two, I made the decision to put anything related to a tournament in the Tournament Medal page, since that's where people would logically expect it to be. The same way that Tark said "the average user doesn't care that a medal is painted, it's not a different medal," I believe the average user would see a medal awarded for a tournament, and believe it to be associated with tournaments. Additionally, tournaments with donor medals for an external charity drive often have the whole set labelled as a Community Medal set, despite their main medals being for a tournament, since there were some that could be obtained outside of it. These are still medals, for a tournament, and therefore they went under the Tournament Medal page. Originally, all charity donor medals were also listed in the promo items page, but as part of a move away from that article (and removal of these medals from the Promo Nav), I felt it best to put them in with the other tournament medals, as detailed in the promo item page subsection. Community Medals, as listed, are for non-tournament events, such as a charity drive without a competitive play background, a design contest, or a community Mann vs. Machine operation.

:: In a similar distinction, were I to make the decisions about this today, I also would move Arms Race and Journey to the East out of the Tournament Medal distinction, they are not tournaments, but merely design contests that had medals with a similar naming convention. At the time, I felt that was the easiest way to convey them, based on the formats we used -- but today, I would move them to event pages for Arms Race and Journey to the East. While we're on the subject, I'd like to propose that we do that. — 03:39, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

When I made the distinction between the two, I made the decision to put anything related to a tournament in the Tournament Medal page, since that's where people would logically expect it to be.
In a similar distinction, were I to make the decisions about this today, I also would move Arms Race and Journey to the East out of the Tournament Medal distinction, they are not tournaments, but merely design contests that had medals with a similar naming convention. At the time, I felt that was the easiest way to convey them, based on the formats we used -- but today, I would move them to event pages for Arms Race and Journey to the East. While we're on the subject, I'd like to propose that we do that. — User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png 03:39, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
