:You are allowed to do that, but this isn't really necessary. It makes it harder for new editors to understand what's going on, and it makes the page slightly slower to refresh because it has to fetch what <nowiki>{{Item name|Original}}</nowiki> resolves to. I'd say only do it when you feel like the name is going to change, which may happen when there's some obviously bad translations coming out of STS or things like that. A related template is {{tl|Item link}}, which you may use for autotranslated links. YOu can use this one more generously, because it is convenient and because it is easier to read (even for new editors) than <nowiki>[[WeaponName/xx|TranslatedWeaponName]]. Hope this helps~ ~~~~

::Okay, so to clarify, this works best during the time between new content and localization update. Once the official translations have been published and are in-game, then this should be taken out and replaced with the actual item name. Item link will be useful in update histories, etc.. Right, thanks. <span style="font-family:TF2 Build;font-size:17px"> [[File:STS.png|link=Special:Contributions/Thebigone]] [[User:Thebigone|Thebigone]]</span> 14:02, 9 August 2011 (PDT)

Usage

Shouldn't we be using this on item pages, especially with new content? Example:
Das {{Item name|Original}} ist ein Werbegegenstand für den Soldier.

This way, when the item receives an official translation and Template:Dictionary/items is edited, the pages will be automatically correct. STS.png Thebigone 09:49, 7 August 2011 (PDT)
