Dead Ringer Critical Error

it seems that Hinaomi has a history of reverting people's bugs and errors without consent and with complete disregard for his fellow wikians (just look at his talk page). The dead ringer has a serious error that gives every player the ability to know when he feigns death. I made a critical bugs section that I believe should be distinguished from the "casual bugs" that do not impact major aspects of gameplay. If these edit wars continue I ask that an admin will get involved and arbitrate a solution. --Wennerj 11:11, 3 July 2012 (PDT)

It's against the style guide to have such a section, just add it to the normal bugs one. rZ 11:15, 3 July 2012 (PDT)

Video Demonstration

I'm working on it. SilverForce 21:28, 3 April 2011 (UTC)SilverForce

Do you want me to put the words "There is not a Weapon Demonstration for this weapon! Help us by adding one!" (adding one links you to Weapon Demo page) Boynedmaster 19:16, 11 October 2011 (PDT) I have a video of me (pyro) attacking a spy with the dead ringer. It shows the feign death and him running of invisible on fire. Link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBq_1fHtnVw&feature=youtube_gdata_player . Feel free to edit it and use it. This page is not Weapon demonstration page. If you need to talk about them go to here. Hinaomi 06:19, 3 November 2011 (PDT)

Test needs to be done

If you Disguise as a friendly player with katana will you be 1 hitted by enemy katanists? I bet you won't. Someone should test this. --SandeProElite 19:33, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

It is very obvious that this would not be a one-hit kill, and thus, a proven spy-checking tactic. Of course, the chances of a spy being disguised with the Zatoichi on his team are very slim.

Sound/volume levels?

I know that the DR uncloak sound is louder than the others, but I'd like to know by how much, and how much the Saharan Spy set mutes it. The file scripts/game_sounds_player.txt says that a normal uncloak is 100% volume with 85dB falloff (attenuation; how much quieter the sound gets with distance), and the feign death uncloak is 70% volume with a 75dB falloff. It also says that a "reduced" uncloak is 50% volume with a 40dB falloff, but that may not be for the DR.

Where should this info go on the page, if at all? Should it be added to the other "watch" pages too?

Hummingbird Engraving

Does anyone know why there is a hummingbird engraved on the Dead Ringer? The closest reason I could get was that decloaking sounds similar to to the "Highland Park Hummingbird", Chrysler's gear-reduction starter motor, introduced in the early 1960s. However some other research shows that hummingbirds are a symbol for eternity since they beat their wings in the pattern of an infinity symbol. But this is contradicted by the fact that hummingbirds are also a symbol for joy and happiness (Not exactly the Spy's forte).

Question on Trivia

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume this has been asked ad nauseam, but it isn't in any recent history that I can see. Wouldn't 'dead ringer' also (perhaps more loosely?) be a reference to how it was practiced in some areas to tie a rope (connected to a bell) around the wrist of those who were assumed deceased and buried so that if they were in fact alive, they could signal for help by ringing the bell? Id est, if they aren't alive, then they wouldn't be able to ring the bell, and thus no sound. However, if they were alive they'd ring the bell and signal that they are alive - similar to how the Dead Ringer makes a loud noise signaling that the Spy is still alive.

I apologize if this actually has already been asked, but I haven't the time to check.
