It sort-of makes sense.

If you assume that Emily the Maidservant is the announcer, Saxton Hale needs no such life support, and Blutarch and Redmond also have devices, then it would make sense that the Announcer is using life support.

Either that, or the Engi built a time machine, and is keeping Zephaniah alive.

It sort-of makes sense. If you assume that Emily the Maidservant is the announcer, Saxton Hale needs no such life support, and Blutarch and Redmond also have devices, then it would make sense that the Announcer is using life support.
