Gender neutralization

Thanks for correcting that gender neutralization issue on those 2 userboxes I made >.o Can't believe I forgot to make sure I used proper terminology! 404 User Not Found 23:03, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Wear it with pride!

Congratulations again, old chum. You have been around the Wiki for ages fixing and polishing things, and you certainly deserve it. Esquilax 23:13, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Note to Self

Just because you haven't had any particularly ugly incidents with "Show Preview" doesn't mean that you can slack off. --LordKelvin 07:33, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Yo, about the class match-up pages.

I ran through and looked at the style guide for strategy.

"Strategy pages contain advice instead of neutral statements about gameplay, so writing "you," giving commands, being accurate and being brief are preferred to encyclopedic language. Whenever applicable, the scope of a strategy should be specified. In some cases, this will require phrases that are normally weasel words, such as "probably" and "on occasion."

Anyway, you know I'm already going through and revising those pages. So with the aid of the style guide, I'm against not using "you" to address the reader. Thoughts? I should be able to remove the cleanup tag once I'm done, right? Also, nice mech on the front page. I notice these things! -- InShane 22:37, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

The thing is, "you" is fine if used occasionally, but it sounds unprofessional when it's applied a few hundred times in an article (which it is on the community strategy pages). I would much prefer that it be used as little as possible, and if it can be avoided then all the better. --LordKelvin 02:36, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
My main concern as of now is the basic strategy pages, which you marked for cleanup. It sounds really awkward to say "A Pyro should do this" instead of "You should do this (as a Pyro)." I have the feeling that you've probably talked to Zoolooman about this before, but he's the one that convinced me to the "you" side, especially because it flows better. -- InShane 02:44, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Due to their relative length, I wouldn't be against using "you"s on the basic strategy pages, it's just that it starts to grate in the match-ups and community strategy sections. Since you're the one who's keeping an eye on those sections though, I'd say feel free to edit them however you see fit. --LordKelvin 02:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Ah, cripes, I also meant class match-ups. Those pages, as of my edits, contain general tips for class-to-class fighting, sorta like "basic class match-ups." Actually, that reminds me of an idea - Basic Match-up pages, and Community Match-up pages, like the ones you're creating on the Community Strategy Pages. -- InShane 02:48, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Well then, feel free to remove the cleanup tags and edit them as you see fit. And as for the community match-ups pages, that's what I'm actually working on, I just want to try to actually create one of each section for each class before proposing it to a mod. --LordKelvin 02:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

  • Hello. It's me,~www~,again.I appreciated that you approved my request of deleting the copied zh-hans pages.
Actually, what I marked was just a small part of it.There are much more pages which have been copied by Chinese. They pissed me off, I'm in fury toward them right now.
Therefore, I think I will mark more pages in these days.Hope you don't think it's weird or something.Because the Chinese had done this kind of act for a long time, and they left many copied pages.I'm done with them.I want to make this horrible act end.
I hope you and and other admins can continue accepting my requests of deletion in the future, I will be very thankful for that.

Comm. Strategy Edit

Hey LK.

Apologies for the aggressive editing. During my time on Wikipedia, I was usually encouraged to "be bold" with edits and felt little need for the section considering the "match up" and "anti-class" strat pages do a similar job anyway - plus I felt that the section made the rest of the article feel quite bloated. Although, to be fair, I was reading the Spy Strat article beforehand and got a little annoyed that things like cloaked reload time animations were written down there.

Still, apologies for the "unadvised", should we say, edit. Still, I'd like to propose a proper "manual of style" for the community strategy articles. It seems, perhaps being their nature, that their content seems inconsistent with each other - perhaps it's something yourself and I could start working on? :D Regards. --Leftism 19:49, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Your recent Oktoberfest edit

There are multiple pages where there is additional information on obscure patch notes. These additions are in brackets and are used to clarify. I don't see why you are suddenly against this.--Focusknock 05:32, 17 August 2011 (PDT)

The user in question was adding all sorts of pointless and false information on various pages, so it may very well have been a false alarm. However, from my understanding the patch history information is meant to closely follow the actual patch notes as close as possible, and the information added on that page didn't seem relevant enough to keep. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 08:59, 17 August 2011 (PDT)

User hat checklist template rewrite.

Since we seem to be the ones that predominantly edit the user hat checklist template and we're both apparently trying to figure out what to do with the new Halloween hats, I think we should change the template a bit; there seems to be too many different sections (Classes, All, Promo, Event, Mask), and it could probably stand to be trimmed down to Classes and All. I polled a few other folks, and they all seem to agree; Tturboo thinks that we could probably change the background color on some of the items to denote quality as well. What do you think? ButteredToast 08:28, 29 October 2011 (PDT)

It sounds like a good idea, honestly, because that Promos section is getting way too big. I think Event should retain its own section though, since some of them are holiday-restricted. --User LordKelvin Signature.png LordKelvin 09:27, 11 November 2011 (PST)

Welcome back and all that.

I understand that you recently returned from a long vacation, so to welcome you back I'm Ghana think of some amusing puns for you. So Howe was the trip? Where did you Goa? Did you have a Wales of a time? Did you travel by sea or by Rhodes? If I can give you a Pisa advice, you should travel more often. Anyway, I'll see if I can Greece the wheels a bit and come up with more puns, but I Congo on for a while, so just tell me when you are sick of travel puns and I will think of Samoa topics. I would not wish to become a Budapest after all. --- Killicon pumpkin.png Esquilax 19:01, 24 May 2012 (PDT)

I am both awestruck and besaddened by the above statement. Truly the fine work of a master pun craftsman/craftswoman/craftsthing. I for one welcome our new Kelvin Lords, without the appropriate punniness, to my dismay. — Wind 19:05, 24 May 2012 (PDT)
