Clarification on Fanfare

Where the article says "Upon a successful double headshot where the bullet has penetrated and killed multiple players, a sound will play throughout the server to signal the occurance." is this different to the fanfare which is played after a penetration kill? I think this needs to be made clearer -PlausibleSarge 06:22, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

There is a difference, upon a double penetration kill (no headshots or one headshot and a bodyshot) the fanfare will play, if its 2 headshots this sound will play that you can here at the end of this youtube vid over here dy1an 10:59, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
If you get a kill by shooting through an enemy and killing someone behind them, the fanfare plays and everyone hears it (at least both teams do, unsure about people dead/spectating). Killing multiple players with one shot is NOT required. That's basically it.Wernstrum 13:18, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
I attempted to clarify the 'fanfare' thing, but I'm having trouble describing what it actually sounds like. I think the sound file is located at '/team fortress 2 content.gcf/tf/sound/misc/sniper_railgun_double_kill.wav' but I can't get GCFScape to extract it (dunno why); it might be a good idea to link the sound on the page so people can hear what it's like. Wernstrum 14:24, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
I can do it, I just need help finding the page that describes how sounds and such are to be handled -PlausibleSarge 03:10, 20 August 2011 (PDT)
OK, I have uploaded the sound file. I don't know how to properly reference it within the article, so I have left it. Here is the link to the file

I added the damage chart to the page, but I have a few questions. -I calculated the random distance modifier into the base damage to get the spread for the 100% charged bodyshot, should I be doing this or testing ingame? -Since I did calculate it, what should I round the values to? Croc-O-Style Kit Bug?

From what I've heard, a head shot from the Machina will completely ignore the Croc-O-Style Kits' set bonus. Can someone test this? Leaderboard class scout.png Wallacethewalrus 19:46, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

A Croc-O-Style sniper can survive a basic headshot, though I've yet to test if they can survive a full charged Machina ignores their headshot resistance. Wernstrum 14:03, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
I'm not sure if it just has to be fully charged single headshot or a piercing one. Try testing both if possible.Leaderboard class scout.png Wallacethewalrus 09:41, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm sure it still protects from headshots - I was on a server today with several snipers using the Machina and they always dropped my health to 1 after a headshot. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 16:31, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

Change the quote?

Maybe it's me, but the current one just bugs me since the Machina can't penetrate through buildings, which means the engie basically does have a gadget that stops his bullets? Seems a little contradictory. Wernstrum 14:19, 19 August 2011 (PDT)

Sorry about that; it wasn't an ideal quote in my opinion as well, but unless someone can propose a better option it shall stay. Painted Vintage Merryweather 803020.pngFyahweather 16:48, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
I think the quotes good, but if someone has a better idea... ShadowGlove 18:08, 19 August 2011 (PDT)
Considering that the bullets penetrate, what about "Not so smart with yer brain outside yer head, are ya?"? -- Killicon train.png Hefaistus - talk 03:13, 20 August 2011 (PDT)
Yes, I think that the quote Hefaistus said is better. Changing it. Painted Vintage Merryweather 803020.pngFyahweather 09:15, 20 August 2011 (PDT)

Weapon Presentation I think that i did it well? If so, just say, i'll upload it on something like mediafire etc. Vaskov 05:13, 20 August 2011 (PDT)

I think your main menu language will have to be changed to English to keep the format the same as the other videos, but I'm not really involved with that kind of thing so don't take my word as law. The layout of the video and examples of the weapon look good, but you'll need to talk to the guys at the Weapon Demonstration Project to get their approval. There's alot of stuff on that page about screen resolutions and uploading instructions as well. » Cooper Kid (blether·contreebs) 07:00, 20 August 2011 (PDT)
I know, that there is a lot of tips, but i have used them. Screen was recorded at 1980x820, with medium settings (somewhere was high) and anti-aliasing x4. I don't know even why i can't see damage done even with 720p. I rendered it in 1280*720 and h264, as it was writed in tips. About language, I wondered about it, but though, that it doesn't matter at all. But well, if i have to change my lang and record it again, no problem! ; )
And ok, I'll post this link on WDP page.

Confirmation on killing Ubercharged enemies.

Simple. Can anyone confirm this trivia? Also, does it mean you can kill the Ubercharged people, or pierce through them(intended behavior)?-Rocket Ship BBQ 15:09, 20 August 2011 (PDT)

Looks like it just pierces, but can kill a non-Ubered enemy behind them -Ceedog48 14:12, 24 August 2011 (PDT) 20:42, 20 August 2011 (PDT)

Not-Necesary Trivia

"Some servers reject the Machina and will only allow the player to use secondary and melee weapons." ← If so... there should be a similar trivia in many weapon pages refering to Restricted Weapon in the servers. --Shattered Heart Lynx 14:14, 23 August 2011 (PDT)

This isn't a server mod that restricts retain weapons, it's a bug where some stock servers will refuse to allow the player to equip the weapon. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 14:16, 23 August 2011 (PDT)

Destroys projectiles?

I have noticed that if this weapon happens to shoot a projectile it will actually destroy the projectile.

Saw this happen when I tried to shoot a Pyro and actually hit the flare he/she/it shot. The flare just disappeared. The preceding unsigned comment was added by CoolJosj3k (talk) • (contribs) 9:37, 24 August 2011

Trace draw bug?

I need some more people to confirm this, but it seems that the trace is actually angled lower than the actual shot.

This means it looks like you shot the enemy player in the chest, when you get a headshot. The preceding unsigned comment was added by CoolJosj3k (talk) • (contribs) 9:40, 24 August 2011

I can confirm that on long distance shots the tracer ends up lower than the actual bullet, but only slightly. Odd ball123 09:11, 26 August 2011 (PDT)

Weapon Demonstration Video Incomplete

I think that the Weapon Demonstration Video should include a display of shooting through (but not killing) the first target, then shooting through (and killing) the second target. There should be two examples of this, one where the second target is killed via body shot, and another where the second target is killed via headshot. Superfield 08:44, 18 October 2011 (PDT)

Also it would be nice to include a target standing infront of an engineer buildung. To show, the bullet can't penetrate the building (this is in the movie already), but it can pass through a person and then hit+destroy the building. Trent Easton 17:27, 16 November 2011 (PST)

Weapon Effect sharing.

We should include the fact in trivia that the weapon shares it's tracer round effect with the Hitman's Heatmaker. Roaper 15:33, 2 July 2012 (PDT)

When I tried to add it to trivia it was undone with the summary, "dont relates to this guny"
Yes on the Hitman's Heatmaker article, there it is maybe relevant. On the Machina article it is not. Btw sign your talks please, and use the show preview button, thanks. TheDoctor 15:34, 2 July 2012 (PDT)

Technicly it's the other way around. Since the Machina came first, this bit of Trivia should be posted on the Hitman's Heatmaker page. Peahats 15:39, 2 July 2012 (PDT)

Ah okay then, understandable. I'll add it to the trivia now. Roaper 15:41, 2 July 2012 (PDT)

Different firing sound on full charge

I noticed that the firing sound is different on full charge. Can anyone confirm? Or is there a more technical way to confirm? Spupy 13:29, 8 May 2013 (PDT)

Yes, different a little. User Hinaomi Hinaomi-sig.png Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 20:42, 8 May 2013 (PDT)
  • facepalm* I didn't notice this was already mentioned in the weapon description... Spupy 04:25, 9 May 2013 (PDT)

Machina doesn't appear in the Mann Co. Catalog

Seriously. It doesn't. Go look for yourself. I put it in that it doesn't appear because that's a bug, since the same thing is listed on other weapons or items that don't show up in the catalog, so why was "The Machina does not appear in the Mann Co. Catalog" removed? SilentObserver01 (talk) 20:01, 10 April 2015 (PDT)

It's Mann Co. Catalog's bug, I'm going to remove all on the other because it's not item bug itself. User Hinaomi Hinaomi-sig.png Rikka Takanashi (talk) • (contributions) 20:53, 11 April 2015 (PDT)
