Hey Tark,
+
Hey Tark. So I noticed that when PhoneWave uploads map stamps it is giving them all the [[:Category:Cosmetic images|Cosmetic images category]] which seems to be a mistake. Also looks like the Taunt icons like the backpack icons are getting the Cosmetic images category instead of the Taunt images category. Figured I would let you know so you can look into it. [[User:Mediarch|{{font color|ec5c69|'''Mediarch'''}}]] [[File:User Mediarch PFP.png|25px]][[User:Mediarch|{{font color|ff66cc| ♥ }}]][[User talk:Mediarch|{{font color|ec5c69|'''Talk'''}}]][[User:Mediarch|{{font color|ff66cc| ♥ }}]][[Special:Contributions/Mediarch|{{font color|ec5c69|'''My Edits'''}}]] 02:27, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
Is there a particular reason you made this category (and not just used {{tl|lang cat}})? It's not very helpful for tracking purposes, since you can't get a correct count of PAGESINCATEGORY.

: I'm just testing if adding 3D images is feasible - it's not finished yet. If you want to make some 3D images to test it, feel free to, but do remember that this is ''only a test'', so it may or may not be ''scrapped entirely''.

I have reviewed the guidelines outlined in [[Help:Account deletion]] and would like to request the deletion of my account.

: The sandbox version only has one new parameter: {{code|image-3d}}, which is the file name of the image without the "_3D.jpg" extension (this is added automatically). So, if you're going to test it, you'll need to upload a file named {{code|User Slimyboi500 CoolRender 3D.jpg}} then set the {{code|image-3d}} parameter to {{code|User Slimyboi500 CoolRender}}. — [[User:Tark|<span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span>]] 19:18, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Briefly, Swood and I talked about cleaning up the Rewards of community Mann vs. Machine operation articles by removing the sections talking about which medals were reused, and whom they were contributed by, and moving that information to a box on the side (which would then leave the section itself free to focus on information about the current event's rewards. So I had the idea to create a new template that would showcase the medals which were being reused, separated by operation. (Or tournament, or what have you. It would be some degree of header input.)

== Wikichievement unlocked! ==
+
It would start with a larger header of '''Reused Medals:''' or something similar, and then list the events the original models were from as categories below that, with Steam Workshop links, where available. Optionally, we could also include contributors as a tooltip sort of thing, as hover text over the operation name. It would look something [https://i.imgur.com/5kknkkm.png like this,] though not exactly, you'll have to forgive my modified painted item template.

{{Award Wikichievement
+
I would prefer it to have space for up to ''five operation categories'', and ''six arguments'' within each one, which would be medal names to input, in order to display images of them underneath their respective categories. It seems unlikely medals from more than five events, and more than six reused medals per event, would occur - so those numbers are largely future-proofing. It should be fairly easy, I would imagine, to assign a file to display, if given specific arguments.

Hey. I have a request for how "num=1" in Update history is displayed. In English, for example "September 25, 2014 Patch" adds 1 at the end to look like "September 25, 2014 Patch 1", but other languages don't use this formula, and the text is changed to look like "Update from 25 September 2014 1". Is it possible to change it to look like "Update from 25 September 2014 Patch 1"? Hello, Tark! I'd like to request a whitelisting for editing of my page's css. I've done some research and digging through a couple other css pages on the wiki and can confidently say I at least understand it to an acceptable level. What I'd like to do with it is replace the wiki image with a new one I create myself from scratch that follows the look of my user page, a replacement of the pixel art near the link to someone's own userpage with something i've created, and some other ideas that are floating about in my head such as with the tables that already exist in my userpage. I won't make use of the permissions just yet, as I'm still trying to get my head around it, but it'd be cool to do something a little extra with my userpage. I understand if I'm not whitelisted due to the reasons I've given, but it would be wonderful if I could do something cool :) — [[User:Payn|payn.]] [[File:Beggar's Bazooka.png|30px|link=User:Payn]] [[User talk:Payn|Talk]] [[File:Speech voice.png|25px|link=User talk:Payn]]  [[Special:Contributions/Payn|Contribs]] [[File:Market Gardener.png|30px|link=Special:Contributions/Payn]] 02:50, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

== Medal Paint Table Question ==
+
I can't add strings for the Bolted Barbecue medals' descriptions, because we've reached the [https://i.imgur.com/tNlUcyC.png end of the limit] on that template. For now, I've elected to add the description strings to the article itself. What do you propose we do now, in terms of the template? — [[File:User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png|30px|link=User:ThatHatGuy]] 00:42, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

One of the new medals for Operation Magnetic Mayhem drops pre-painted with Cream Spirit, as a team colored medal. Does that mean I'll have to redirect a couple images to show the table properly? I realize that using <nowiki>{{Painted variants|override = Titanium Tank Participant Medal 2017}}</nowiki> will cover most of the table, and that I can also specify <nowiki>{{override-unpainted = Operation Magnetic Mayhem Megalomaniac Mastodon 2024}}</nowiki> to allow me to show the medal as unpainted Cream Spirit, but I'll have to redirect the old medal's Cream Spirit images to the new medal's unpainted section, I think? — [[File:User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png|30px|link=User:ThatHatGuy]] 05:54, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

: It's a known issue (c [[Template talk:Dictionary/descriptions]]). Possible short-term solutions are: remove medals and crates, merge duplicate entries or/and remove translations that are the same as the English text.

: I'm not Tark but couldn't you change 1 pixel by one hex value? That would mean the images wouldn't be duplicate but would also be essentially imperceptable to the human eye and wouldn't require any funky redirect shenanigans. I might not be fully understanding the predicament but I think a single slightly tweaked pixel would be a potential fix. :: So if medals are to be removed, what is to become of their description strings, both existing and in the future? Would we just have to put descriptions in the articles themselves? I can work with that, but we'd have to remember to apply whichever solution is chosen for medals retroactively, since there's a ton of them that currently rely on the description dictionary to display their strings. These are the perfect median values between the two Killstreaker colors displayed in [[:Template:Killstreak_color_table|the Killstreak color table]]. Killstreaker effects use these two colors alternating when spawning particles, causing them to perceptually blend together to around these same values.

You uploaded the item icon for the Osmium Ordinance Platinum Pitcher as its backpack icon, resized, but it's supposed to match the Canteen Crasher Platinum Crit Medal 2018's item icon, for consistency. I tried to make it a redirect, and couldn't manage to. Can you fix it? — [[File:User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png|30px|link=User:ThatHatGuy]] 03:57, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
+
Due to the inconsistent nature of how these colors are actually handled in-game and the fact that they may be perceptually different based on environment, weapon, effect, etc., you may also take some creative liberty with some of these to make sure they display nicely on the wiki itself.

This GrampaSwood individual is making that impossible for me, and has proven to be (at least recently) detrimental to the access of information.

::: 1. This wiki is [[Team_Fortress_Wiki:Policies#Leaked_content|not allowed]] to document "source code". We can, however, document the "events" related to the leaks. These events should ideally be included in the main [[Team Fortress 2]] article, just like [[w:Team_Fortress_2#Post-release|Wikipedia]] does.

::: 2. Community reactions to such events are always overblown, and as a wiki, we should document verifiable information, not conjecture. The "spaghetti code" is a good example of a joke that is taken as truth, much like the "coconut.jpg" one.

::: 3. Unused / Cut content can be documented in [[Unused content]] page (depending on the nature of the leak, see [[Team_Fortress_Wiki:Policies#Unused_and_cut_content|Policy]]).

:: I personally believe that a few paragraphs in the main TF2 article are enough. However, this wiki is indeed open, and if you truly wish to work on this article because you see its value, we can move it to your sandbox (User:Sitzkrieg/Sandbox). Once you're done, you can start a [[Team Fortress Wiki:Discussion|discussion here]], asking other editors to review it and decide if it's something we should be documenting. It ''*is*'' a lot of effort and there's still a chance it could be turned down, but I genuinely think this approach is fair. — [[User:Tark|<span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span>]] 22:16, 31 August 2024 (UTC)

If a medal defaults to the Gem Only style, and has the typical default style, "Normal," as a selectable style instead, this makes the file names of any overridden unpainted images act as though Gem Only is still an alternative style, and Normal is still the default style, despite them now being swapped around.
+
:: {{c|done}}. — [[User:Tark|<span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span>]] 13:51, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

[[User:ThatHatGuy/Sandbox2|Here's an example,]] that's easier to illustrate with. You'll notice that, despite being the second image set, because the table is coded for the Normal style to be read as the default (otherwise, the images for the base medal are overridden improperly, if set to {{code|<nowiki>style= Normal - medal</nowiki>}}), the unpainted images are therefore coded for Gem Only to have its style name appended to the end of its image, even though that image is the default unpainted image for the medal, and for the Normal style to be stored like a default image, despite being a style.

This will practically not be an issue at all, of course, once the images are properly uploaded. It will have no front-facing problems, and will only be an issue in how the file name is stored internally. : It's fine as it is. This is an issue we've noticed recently (thanks to {{tlx|model path}}). If an item has multiple styles, there's no such thing as "item name", it's ''always'' "item name style n" (whatever is set as the "default" style). So, technically speaking, all medals should have that "normal" in the filename. Not that we're ever going to start doing it now due to the sheer amount of image files.
+
:: That is disheartening to hear, as it was an amaizing website. I hope you find the means to host it once again in the future. [[User:Lolimsogreat21|Lolimsogreat21]] ([[User talk:Lolimsogreat21|talk]]) 21:39, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21
: That said, I don't think the order is such a big deal. MvM medals are all copy-pasted anyway, so one being the default ''this'' time around is not even noteworthy, I'd say. If this becomes a common occurrence in the future, I can try fixing the template, but it's not worth the trouble just for a one-off. Hey Tark. So I noticed that when PhoneWave uploads map stamps it is giving them all the Cosmetic images category which seems to be a mistake. Also looks like the Taunt icons like the backpack icons are getting the Cosmetic images category instead of the Taunt images category. Figured I would let you know so you can look into it. Hey tark. I finished up the Rainbow Wiki logo. Big Version and Small Version. Didn't make any of the other languages but yeah. Idk if you wanna do anything with it now for the last bit of June or save it for next year. But figured I'd let you know either way. Potential Original Medals Template for Event Rewards

It would start with a larger header of Reused Medals: or something similar, and then list the events the original models were from as categories below that, with Steam Workshop links, where available. Optionally, we could also include contributors as a tooltip sort of thing, as hover text over the operation name. It would look something like this, though not exactly, you'll have to forgive my modified painted item template.

I would prefer it to have space for up to five operation categories, and six arguments within each one, which would be medal names to input, in order to display images of them underneath their respective categories. It seems unlikely medals from more than five events, and more than six reused medals per event, would occur - so those numbers are largely future-proofing. It should be fairly easy, I would imagine, to assign a file to display, if given specific arguments.

If the idea was seen through, the reward section would end up looking something like this, compared to what it is now, on my sandbox. What are your thoughts on a template like that? If you are in favour of the idea, do you think you might help me design it? — User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png 19:01, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

The decision is yours, but I'd argue that listing each contributor is more important than linking to the obligatory, empty Workshop submission. I think the current format is fine, personally.
As for helping out, I'm currently busy with another project and can't commit much time right now. Apologies :/ — Tark 20:19, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

Technical request

User Denied signature.jpg Denied (Talk) 12:31, 13 July 2025 (UTC)

Try adjusting "patch-date-num-fmt" Template:Dictionary/common_strings#patch_namesTark 15:35, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
Some guidance? I don't want to edit it too much with trials and errors. User Denied signature.jpg Denied (Talk) 18:53, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
{{patch name|7|14|2025|num=1}} → patch-num-fmt → July 14, 2025 Patch 1
Params: 1 = month (7), 2 = day (14), 3 = year (2025), 4 = num (1)
Example (pt-br): {{{4}}}ª atualização de {{{2}}} de {{lang date|{{{1}}}}} de {{{3}}} → "1ª atualização de 14 de julho de 2025"
{{patch name|7|14|2025|num=1|date=true}} → patch-date-num-fmt → July 14, 2025 (#1)
Params: 1 = month (7), 2 = day (14), 3 = year (2025), 4 = num (1)
Example (pt-br): {{{2}}} de {{lang date|{{{1}}}}} de {{{3}}} (nº {{{4}}}ª) → "14 de julho de 2025 (nº 1)"

Another request

Hi. I have another request. Is it possible to force a bot to capitalize names of War Paints? Bot already does it for Unusual effects, as in Polish they are not capitalized due to how they are displayed in-game, but they look correct on the Wiki while capitalized. Dictionary Descriptions Template at Maximum Capacity

I can't add strings for the Bolted Barbecue medals' descriptions, because we've reached the end of the limit on that template. For now, I've elected to add the description strings to the article itself. What do you propose we do now, in terms of the template? — User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png 00:42, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

It's a known issue (c Template talk:Dictionary/descriptions). Possible short-term solutions are: remove medals and crates, merge duplicate entries or/and remove translations that are the same as the English text.
Medals are not a priority, so if any actual items have descriptions, please add them first instead of the medal descriptions. — Tark 01:16, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
So if medals are to be removed, what is to become of their description strings, both existing and in the future? Would we just have to put descriptions in the articles themselves? I can work with that, but we'd have to remember to apply whichever solution is chosen for medals retroactively, since there's a ton of them that currently rely on the description dictionary to display their strings. — User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png 09:07, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

Killstreak CSS colors

Hi, once again asking for the killstreak CSS colors to be changed to the following:

Killstreak CSS colors
Agonizing Emerald - #85FF9C
Deadly Daffodil - #FFE165
Hot Rod - #FF93EC
Manndarin - #FF7B11
Mean Green - #D3FF3C
Team Shine (RED) - #FF4C49
Team Shine (BLU) - #4293F9
Villainous Violet - #9052FF

These are the perfect median values between the two Killstreaker colors displayed in the Killstreak color table. Killstreaker effects use these two colors alternating when spawning particles, causing them to perceptually blend together to around these same values.

Due to the inconsistent nature of how these colors are actually handled in-game and the fact that they may be perceptually different based on environment, weapon, effect, etc., you may also take some creative liberty with some of these to make sure they display nicely on the wiki itself.

Please let me know your thoughts. ~ Boba 22:59, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

August 14th Patch 1 Diff

Will the diff for Patch 1 be reinstated? I saw you deleted the template for it, but the file changes are still hosted, it seems. — User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png 05:46, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Likely sometime next month. I don't have the time to fix it right now. — Tark 15:50, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Wiki Stats down

Hello, I would just like to inform you that the WikiStats website is unavailable, whenever I click on it it says that it cannot be reached. I don't know if you are responsible for the website or know someone who is, but I saw you advertising it on your user page so I thought you might have something to do with it. Been down for some time. My financial situation is a bit difficult at the moment, so I haven't been able to keep up with the costs. — Tark 19:06, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
That is disheartening to hear, as it was an amaizing website. I hope you find the means to host it once again in the future. Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 21:39, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21
