− | + | == Potential Original Medals Template for Event Rewards == | |
− | + | Briefly, Swood and I talked about cleaning up the Rewards of community Mann vs. Machine operation articles by removing the sections talking about which medals were reused, and whom they were contributed by, and moving that information to a box on the side (which would then leave the section itself free to focus on information about the current event's rewards. So I had the idea to create a new template that would showcase the medals which were being reused, separated by operation. (Or tournament, or what have you. It would be some degree of header input.) | |
− | + | It would start with a larger header of Reused Medals: or something similar, and then list the events the original models were from as categories below that, with Steam Workshop links, where available. Optionally, we could also include contributors as a tooltip sort of thing, as hover text over the operation name. It would look something like this, though not exactly, you'll have to forgive my modified painted item template. | |
− | |||
− | |||
− | + | I would prefer it to have space for up to five operation categories, and six arguments within each one, which would be medal names to input, in order to display images of them underneath their respective categories. It seems unlikely medals from more than five events, and more than six reused medals per event, would occur - so those numbers are largely future-proofing. It should be fairly easy, I would imagine, to assign a file to display, if given specific arguments. | |
− | + | If the idea was seen through, the reward section would end up looking something like this, compared to what it is now, on my sandbox. What are your thoughts on a template like that? If you are in favour of the idea, do you think you might help me design it? — 19:01, 27 June 2025 (UTC) | |

− | |||
− | |||
− | |||
− | |||
− | + | : The decision is yours, but I'd argue that listing each contributor is more important than linking to the obligatory, empty Workshop submission. I think the current format is fine, personally. | |
+ | : As for helping out, I'm currently busy with another project and can't commit much time right now. Apologies :/ — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 20:19, 27 June 2025 (UTC) | ||

− | [https:// | + | I can't add strings for the Bolted Barbecue medals' descriptions, because we've reached the end of the limit on that template. − | |||
− | + | : It's a known issue (c Template talk:Dictionary/descriptions). Possible short-term solutions are: remove medals and crates, merge duplicate entries or/and remove translations that are the same as the English text. | |
+ | : Medals are not a priority, so if any actual items have descriptions, please add them first instead of the medal descriptions. — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 01:16, 25 July 2025 (UTC) | ||
− | + | :: So if medals are to be removed, what is to become of their description strings, both existing and in the future? Would we just have to put descriptions in the articles themselves? I can work with that, but we'd have to remember to apply whichever solution is chosen for medals retroactively, since there's a ton of them that currently rely on the description dictionary to display their strings. — 09:07, 25 July 2025 (UTC) | |

Hey Tark. So I noticed that when PhoneWave uploads map stamps it is giving them all the Cosmetic images category which seems to be a mistake. Also looks like the Taunt icons like the backpack icons are getting the Cosmetic images category instead of the Taunt images category. Figured I would let you know so you can look into it. Wiki Rainbow
Hey tark. I finished up the Rainbow Wiki logo. Big Version and Small Version. Didn't make any of the other languages but yeah. Idk if you wanna do anything with it now for the last bit of June or save it for next year. But figured I'd let you know either way. Mediarch ♥ Talk ♥ My Edits 21:27, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Potential Original Medals Template for Event Rewards
Briefly, Swood and I talked about cleaning up the Rewards of community Mann vs. It would be some degree of header input.)
It would start with a larger header of Reused Medals: or something similar, and then list the events the original models were from as categories below that, with Steam Workshop links, where available. Optionally, we could also include contributors as a tooltip sort of thing, as hover text over the operation name. It would look something like this, though not exactly, you'll have to forgive my modified painted item template.
I would prefer it to have space for up to five operation categories, and six arguments within each one, which would be medal names to input, in order to display images of them underneath their respective categories. It seems unlikely medals from more than five events, and more than six reused medals per event, would occur - so those numbers are largely future-proofing. It should be fairly easy, I would imagine, to assign a file to display, if given specific arguments.
If the idea was seen through, the reward section would end up looking something like this, compared to what it is now, on my sandbox. What are your thoughts on a template like that? If you are in favour of the idea, do you think you might help me design it? — 19:01, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- The decision is yours, but I'd argue that listing each contributor is more important than linking to the obligatory, empty Workshop submission. I think the current format is fine, personally.
- As for helping out, I'm currently busy with another project and can't commit much time right now. Apologies :/ — Tark 20:19, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
Technical request
Hey. I have a request for how "num=1" in Update history is displayed. In English, for example "September 25, 2014 Patch" adds 1 at the end to look like "September 25, 2014 Patch 1", but other languages don't use this formula, and the text is changed to look like "Update from 25 September 2014 1". Is it possible to change it to look like "Update from 25 September 2014 Patch 1"? Denied (Talk) 12:31, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Try adjusting "patch-date-num-fmt" Template:Dictionary/common_strings#patch_names — Tark 15:35, 13 July 2025 (UTC)

→ patch-num-fmt → July 14, 2025 Patch 1- Params: 1 = month (7), 2 = day (14), 3 = year (2025), 4 = num (1)
- Example (pt-br):
{}ª atualização de {} de
→ "1ª atualização de 14 de julho de 2025"{{lang date|{}}}
de {}

→ patch-date-num-fmt → July 14, 2025 (#1)- Params: 1 = month (7), 2 = day (14), 3 = year (2025), 4 = num (1)
- Example (pt-br):
{} de
→ "14 de julho de 2025 (nº 1)"{{lang date|{}}}
de {} (nº {}ª)
Another request
Hi. I have another request. Is it possible to force a bot to capitalize names of War Paints? Bot already does it for Unusual effects, as in Polish they are not capitalized due to how they are displayed in-game, but they look correct on the Wiki while capitalized. Dictionary Descriptions Template at Maximum Capacity
I can't add strings for the Bolted Barbecue medals' descriptions, because we've reached the end of the limit on that template. For now, I've elected to add the description strings to the article itself. What do you propose we do now, in terms of the template? — 00:42, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- It's a known issue (c Template talk:Dictionary/descriptions). Possible short-term solutions are: remove medals and crates, merge duplicate entries or/and remove translations that are the same as the English text.
- Medals are not a priority, so if any actual items have descriptions, please add them first instead of the medal descriptions. — Tark 01:16, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- So if medals are to be removed, what is to become of their description strings, both existing and in the future? Would we just have to put descriptions in the articles themselves? I can work with that, but we'd have to remember to apply whichever solution is chosen for medals retroactively, since there's a ton of them that currently rely on the description dictionary to display their strings. —

Killstreak CSS colors
Hi, once again asking for the killstreak CSS colors to be changed to the following:
Killstreak CSS colors |
---|
Agonizing Emerald - #85FF9C |
Deadly Daffodil - #FFE165 |
Hot Rod - #FF93EC |
Manndarin - #FF7B11 |
Mean Green - #D3FF3C |
Team Shine (RED) - #FF4C49 |
Team Shine (BLU) - #4293F9 |
Villainous Violet - #9052FF |
These are the perfect median values between the two Killstreaker colors displayed in the Killstreak color table. Killstreaker effects use these two colors alternating when spawning particles, causing them to perceptually blend together to around these same values.
Due to the inconsistent nature of how these colors are actually handled in-game and the fact that they may be perceptually different based on environment, weapon, effect, etc., you may also take some creative liberty with some of these to make sure they display nicely on the wiki itself.
Please let me know your thoughts. ~ Boba 22:59, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

August 14th Patch 1 Diff
Will the diff for Patch 1 be reinstated? I saw you deleted the template for it, but the file changes are still hosted, it seems. — 05:46, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

Wiki Stats down
Hello, I would just like to inform you that the WikiStats website is unavailable, whenever I click on it it says that it cannot be reached. I don't know if you are responsible for the website or know someone who is, but I saw you advertising it on your user page so I thought you might have something to do with it. - Been down for some time. My financial situation is a bit difficult at the moment, so I haven't been able to keep up with the costs. — Tark 19:06, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
- That is disheartening to hear, as it was an amaizing website. I hope you find the means to host it once again in the future. Lolimsogreat21 (talk) 21:39, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Lolimsogreat21
